Imagine your loved one is in the Intensive Care Unit or the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or maybe is receiving daily chemo treatments and cannot go home…. Now imagine you want to stay with them, to support them and comfort them, but you do not have the means to pay for a hotel or there are none available…. Most of us don’t plan for the medical conditions and complications that arise in our life. They can come at a time when we least expect it and seeking medical care in a community outside your hometown can be difficult. It creates a financial burden and can separate families. Having a loved one near during a hospital stay is important in the care and recovery process, but financing out-of-pocket lodging can be costly. That’s where the Sunshine Hospitality Home can help. This home will be a place for patients and their families, affected by critical illnesses, diseases and injuries, who must travel to fulfill their healthcare needs. It will seek to provide low or no cost housing options to patient families, their caregivers or in cases of extended therapy or treatment, maybe even the patient themselves. A hospitality house provides individuals with a place to sleep, eat, keep their belongings, relax and find comfort. It will be open to all ages and situations and will welcome families from the Grand Forks area and surrounding region. It will be a place of compassion and peace. *2011-12 Altru Patient Discharge Statistics **Numbers are from 6 other counties in NE North Dakota. You can make a difference…in Grafton/Park River! Imagine your loved one is in the Intensive Care Unit or the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or

maybe is receiving daily chemo treatments and cannot go home….

Now imagine you want to stay with them, to support them and comfort them, but you

do not have the means to pay for a hotel or there are none available….

This home will be a place

for patients and their families, affected by critical illnesses, diseases and injuries, who must travel to fulfill their healthcare needs.

Sunshine Hospitality Home Project

CONNECT Team

The CONNECT Team is responsible for: connecting the task force with the local and regional

communities through events, group presentations, and working to identify prospects.

The Sunshine Hospitality Home will be serving people across the region who must travel to Grand Forks

for healthcare, or travel as caregivers. The success of this project depends on the education, knowledge

and support of people and communities which will be served by this project.

The CONNECT Team leaders are searching for individuals to join the team and advocate for the project.

Specifically needed are three areas:

Connector: This position will have knowledge of the local community and outlying area and is

willing to make contacts and open doors and set the stage for presentation, and have interest

and understand the project.

Presenter: This position will share the message with a PowerPoint presentation (already

created) to show the community why this project is important to their lives.

Helper: This position will help the presenter with setting up for presentations, having materials

available, scheduling, invitations, logistics, calling, etc.

A hospitality house provides individuals with a place to sleep, eat, keep their belongings, relax and find comfort. It will be open to all ages and situations and will welcome families from the Grand Forks area and surrounding region. It will be a place of compassion and peace. We’re looking to find CONNECTORS and find LOCAL ADVOCATES to help raise AWARENESS to benefit the proposed Sunshine Hospitality Home project. We need some fun and energetic people to become door openers, team leaders, presenters, helpers, etc. This is your chance to reconnect, meet new people, have some fun and help people in your community.

You can make a difference…today! Let us know if you’d like to come to an informational meeting to start building your community team today! Or if you have additional questions, please seek out information at www.SunshineMemorial.org
