The new Tiger·tec® Gold coating technology wins an award in the

"Tools" category at the AMB 2016

With its new Tiger·tec® Gold coating technology, Walter AG has secured its place on the

podium at the MM Award ceremony in the "Tools" category. As the successor to Tiger·tec®

Silver, the new Tiger·tec® Gold coating, with its titanium aluminium nitride (TiAlN) layer,

provides significant improvements in the coating properties – and thereby ensures even

better tool life, productivity and process reliability. A special coating process, known as the

"ultra-low pressure method" (ULP-CVD), ensures perfect wear detection, exceptional

resistance to flank face wear and hairline cracks and improved resistance to plastic

deformation. Numerous practical tests have demonstrated increases in tool life of up to

200% in specific applications.

Jörg Drobniewski, head of cutting tool material development, and Dr Dirk Stiens, head of

CVD coating development, accepted the coveted award for Walter AG. "We are very pleased

with this award. We presented the new coating for the first time at the AMB this year.

technologies to provide answers for the growing requirements of the market," explains

Drobniewski.

For the third time, the industry magazine MM MaschinenMarkt presented the MM Award in

several categories at the AMB – the international exhibition for metalworking. Awards were

given to the most innovative exhibits in the field of metalworking.
