WALTHILL’S ORIENTAL HOMECOMING 2017 This year’s Homecoming was a huge success, with over 130 students attending. Besides the dance, the Student Council assisted with the

parade and after party, both of which went off without a hitch. The Student Council can’t thank everyone who assisted in this individually, but

would like to thank the following groups/organizations that helped:

• Omaha Tribe of Nebraska

• Charter West Bank

• Chesterman Company

• Circle T Feedlot

• Walthill Staff, Administration, and Families

Thanks again, for making this such a memorable Homecoming for the students, school, and community.

Happenings in Fifth Grade: The fifth grade had a chance to participate in the Missouri River Expo at Ponca State Park on September 15th. Here are some of the comments students had about their field trip: “ The field trip was very fun! First, we learned how to make a thermometer. We used vinegar, salt, food coloring, dish soap, clay and a straw. Next after weather, we went to a geology station where we learned about the Continental Drifts. There they demonstrated how trenches were made and how every continent moved 10 cm. every year.” -Kailey Richards “ I liked our field trip. I liked the story of Theodore Roosevelt. It was good because he told us lots of things about him trying to hunt bison, and his daughter” -Tylen Miller Another big change to our schedule is the implementation of centers for class time. Students seem to really be enjoying them. Here are some comments about center time: “Center time starts at 1:20pm. Our first center is computers and we get on MobyMax or IXL. We then go to Mrs. Rogers and do some grammar. When we are done with that center we go to Mrs. Ross and work on reading stories and writing about setting. Then we go to Mrs. Anderson and work on math” -Ava Levering “What I like about 5th grade is center time.” -Haylie Lovejoy
