We wish you the very best of luck for your future – keep smiling Year 6 and give life your very best. A very big thank you to the Walton Staff team. Above and beyond comes very naturally to everyone at Walton doing their best day in day out for the children, families and each other. THANK YOU! End of Year 2020

WOW, what a year we have all had!

We could not be prouder of our School Community – children, staff and our parents we are proud of you!

Your commitment to online learning and supporting your children to be the best they can be has been fabulous.

We are very much looking forward to the return of all our children in September, and although this may not be quite the “normal” it will certainly be happier times with all of our School Community returning. If you have not already seen the Covid September letter, please refer to this for further information. The staggered start times are included in he newsletter.

We also say a fond farewell to our amazing Year 6 children. It has not been a typical end to the year, but we know that you enjoyed your send off on Tuesday – a cook up in the woods, leavers video, hoodies and the silly race. We wish you the very best of luck for your future – keep smiling Year 6 and give life your very best.

A very big thank you to the Walton Staff team. Above and beyond comes very naturally to everyone at Walton doing their best day in day out for the children, families and each other.

THANK YOU!

Finally, we would like to wish you all a very happy holiday, no home learning although we would like you to keep up with the reading and basics please.

Whatever you are doing over the summer, stay safe, take care and be happy and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday 3rd September.

Music Lessons September 2020

It is anticipated that music lessons will potentially start on September 14th.

At this time of year, the Music Teacher Clare Mott would normally arrange a demo for KS2 pupils who would be interested in starting lessons in September, unfortunately that is not possible this year. • Will you be in Year 4,5 or 6 in September? • Would you be interested in playing a musical instrument?

• As it is not possible to visit school and do a demonstration please have a look at the video which will give you an idea of some musical opportunities offered by Derby and Derbyshire Music partnership and the Hub partners and see what you could achieve if you learn an instrument or have singing lessons.

• www.derbyshiremusichub.org.uk/lessons • Please give your name, year group and instrument to your school or go

to https://derbyshiremusichub.org.uk

Amazon Wish List

As this is such a strange end to the school year, the teachers at Walton have decided

that it will be good to start looking towards September! We have been

working hard to choose class books that we will be using in KS2 classes for each

topic and we would like to buy enough for each child to share one book between

two.

Mrs Stewart has kindly created a “Wish List” on Amazon of all the books we will

be using. If you would like to support us, please purchase one of these books for

the school with a little note to say who it is from. This would be greatly

appreciated.

We would like to take this time to thank you for all of your hard work and

dedication over the last few months. We have loved seeing all of the lovely things that the children have been up to and we can’t wait to have their energy and smiles

back in school in September (fingers crossed)

September bubbles Staffing arrangements for each bubble are as follows. You will note that we have some lovely new staff to introduce to you in September too! Bubble 1 Rabbits – Mrs Bollington Hedghogs – Mrs Toft, Miss Bottrill, Mrs Redford and Mrs Branton Squirrels – Miss Lakin, Mr Willetts and Mr Carlin Bubble 2 Owls – Miss Grigg, Mrs Claxton Foxes – Miss Lane, Mrs Lee and Miss Dennis (SCITT student teacher) Mrs Freeman to cover PPA. Bubble 3 Badgers – Mrs Stewart and Mr Parkinson Staff will remain within each bubble to ensure that contact is kept to a minimum across the school community. Children are not expected to social distance within each bubble, however staff are required to social distance from each other and the children. Face masks remain not recommended in schools so these will only be worn by staff when administering first aid. Please do not sent your child with a face mask as this will need to be removed and sent home immediately. Hand washing and high standards of cleanliness will continue to be paramount within school and we ask that you ensure your child washes their hands on leaving your house and entering the house at the end of the school day. The school office will only be able to be accessed using from the post box until further notice. This includes the toilets as these are for staff only during this time. Track and trace will also be evident in school so visitors will be kept to an absolute minimum. We also ask that during the holidays you remain vigilant and keep to the social distancing measures of 2 meters where possible to ensure that our return to school in September is as smooth and safe as possible. For those of you who are going on holiday, please be mindful of any 2 week quarantine rules that may be in place and adhere to these on your return. We are so excited to return our school community to a new sense of normal but most importantly one that enables all the children and staff to return safely and happily! Thank you for supporting us so well this term! We realise there may be a few “wobbles” the first week back with the arrangements that we are putting in place so please bear with us and we will do everything we can by responding and adapting to any changes that may need to be made.

Vision and Values of our Church School

Over the Summer we will be renewing our mission statement, vision and values.

The mission statement for the school needs a little freshening up and we would like to add another three Christian values to our existing ones of Honesty, Respect and Kindness. In

order to do this, we would like as many parents as possible to send us one word that describes out school. For example, some of the words we have received so far are family, exuberant, nurture, care and love. Please either tweet your words to us or email them in

to [email protected]

The more words that we receive the better as we are going to create some “wordle” posters for around school of all the words that have been sent in from our different

stakeholder groups in school.

Visitors and friends of the school plus all staff and governors will be involved in this activity too. We will launch our renewed vision and values in September, which we think is a

perfect time to do it when we will all be back together again.

Soccerstars in September

We will be offering an afterschool Soccerstars club on a Monday. This will be

for any child in Years 3 to 5 only.

• Starting Monday 14th September • Price £3.00 • Time 3.15 – 4.15

• Booking via www.soccerstarsuk.co.uk

This will run every Monday until half term.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club will run from Thursday 3rd September, opening at 8am. We will be running the breakfast club over the 3 bubbles across the school, with Mrs

Bollington and Mrs Claxton running the bubbles. Additional staff will be on hand if

required.

Please sign in the usual way with your child and Parent Pay will be updated with your

child’s attendance.

Home to school transport

The county council is looking at what can be realistically done to get students to and from school. To help plan for the September return the council need every parent and career to complete a short survey. The survey asks about how your children got from home to school before the coronavirus pandemic, and how you think they will get to school in September. It also ask how your children could be

encouraged to walk, cycle or scoot to school.

Please visit the council’s website and fill in the survey. They survey closes on 31st July.
