Dear Parents and Carers,Welcome back to the new school year at Wamberal Public School and a special warm welcome to

any new students and families.  We look forward to a rich and rewarding year with many well

established and new and exciting opportunities and initiatives.

Wambi's WavebreakerTerm 1 Week 1 - 29th January 2020

K BlockIt was with great excitement that students commenced learning in our new K Block today. There

were many positive comments and amazed looks when they �rst entered the building. Regardless

of whether students worked in K Block today, all students had the opportunity to view these great

facilities throughout the day. 

Parent mini-toursSpecial short ‘preview’ tours are available for parents each afternoon this week (29-31st Jan)

from 3:00-3:20pm to see K Block and learn about some of the features. Preview tours will depart

promptly at 3:00pm from our o�ce (please arrive in time to sign in before the tour). The tour will

conclude at the basketball court meeting area. If you are meeting your child, you are encouraged

to arrange to meet them there.

School SecurityDuring the school day (9:30am- 3:30pm) access to the school is from our Lea Avenue entrance

only. All visitors are asked to proceed directly to the school o�ce upon arrival where our friendly

o�ce sta� will be able to assist.

Meeting AreasWe are establishing meeting areas at both our entrances for parents to wait at the end of the

school day for students.  The meeting areas are near the school entrances and parents are

encouraged to use these areas to minimise disruption to teaching and learning, increase safety

for students & reduce pedestrian tra�c in congested areas.

Parent Information SessionsThese are a great way to meet your child’s 2019 teacher and receive an overview of our school as

well as the learning programs. The dates and times are as follows:

Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) 5:30pm-6:15pm Tuesday, 18th February

Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) 6:30pm-7:15pm Tuesday, 18th February

Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) 5:30pm-6:15pm Wednesday, 19th February

Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) 6:30pm-7:15pm Wednesday, 19th February

All sessions commence in our school hall.

Year 5 CampNext Tuesday, our Year 5 students depart to enjoy their major excursion to Great Aussie Bush

Camp. This will be a fantastic experience and we look forward to hearing about their adventures

upon their return.

Classes 2019Today our students returned and were greeted by the familiar faces and learning environments

they enjoyed in 2019. Students quickly settled into regular learning and will continue in these

groupings until 2020 classes are formalised. Classes are carefully planned and balanced to

achieve the best outcomes for all, consistent with our class formation policy. It is anticipated

students will transition to their 2020 class within the next week. Throughout the year, if you

would like to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher, this can be arranged via phoning

or emailing the school o�ce to arrange an appointment or phone call at a mutually convenient

time.
