Weve grown a lot in our workshop offerings for the general public. These include a new 3D printing workshop where we have guests scan their heads, prepare the stl files and operate the 3D printers to make a 1/8 scale bust of their heads in 60 minutes; our classic keychain workshop where guests learn inkscape and design small laser cut keychains, also within 60 minutes; and a new 20 minute vinyl cutting workshop where younger guests can quickly design custom stickers and learn about the power of digital fabrication! As Dan said, we have grown significantly, not only in staff but in the number of guests served. Our first audience is local students who participate in a repeat visit workshop model, where they build upon skills and use multiple techniques while focusing on a single larger project or topic. In the first set of visits, the students go through a boot camp similar to the fab academy where they learn one new machine and process every visit. Later sessions focus on large topics such as hydroponics or computer simulation of metal casting (in partnership with MAGMA industries.) This year weve expanded our student programs to some new groups, including homeschool students and groups from the YMCA, were looking to continue expanding these offerings in the near future!6Youth programs: Career Connection

Weve also been taking our lab out on the road a lot. Weve been setting up miniature versions of all our machines, detailed by Dan, at locations like the professional conferences (such as the American Library Association conference) and various maker faires.
