Hello to all members - - - I trust that November finds you healthy and doing well. November is always a busy month for all of us, I encourage all of you to visit the lodge this month. We have a lot of stuff going on and there is bound to be something you would enjoy doing.
Thank you to all the lodge members and volunteers that were at the different events in October, your continued generosity is what makes the lodge such a great place. The Youth Outreach Drive was a great event; the many cars that came to be shown were a joy to see. Supporting events such as this one show the entire community that Elks Care - Elks Share in Red Wing.
In reviewing the October Elks Magazine there were 5 different MN Lodges with Snippets about events. Red Wing has an item about the lodge’s support of the Bike Rodeo. Brainerd, Winona, and Worthington held Veterans support events, and Faribault has a picture and story about their outstanding student award program. It is very exciting to see how the Minnesota Elks support our local communities with programs and that they get nationwide recognition for the good work that is being done. I encourage each of you to read the magazine if you get it and review the work that is being done throughout our great country by the Elks Organization, it will make you proud to be a member of such a giving organization.
In October, I attended the Mid-Year Conference in Eveleth, Minnesota with over 100 other Elks from the various lodges throughout Minnesota. The conference was fun and informative, it is the place where we can interact with the other lodges from the state and see what they are doing to promote Elkdom. Many lodges face the same challenges that we face here in Red Wing and it is a good thing to hear how they are handling similar situations. I want to thank our 10 Lodge Members who attended!
Recruitment of new members is going well this year and I encourage all members to keep up the good work. Remember new members are out there they simply need to hear what we do and be asked down to the lodge, and then we can see if they are interested in joining us and supporting our community through lodge services. Scott Guse is the lead recruiter this year so far, so thank him when you see him at the lodge.
Please remember to sign in when you visit the lodge, it is an IRS requirement and helps us keep our nonprofit status.
Fraternally & Sincerely, Warren R Wertman Exalted Ruler

RW Elks # 845’s Annual
Christmas Food Basket Drive
Give Generously . . . Start a new Family Tradition
Sat. Dec 19th
at 8 AM
Our day starts with breakfast, then we pack & deliver the baskets. It’s chaotic but VERY rewarding when you drop off a basket and see the smiles on the faces of mom or dad.
Food for thought . . .
It is not (and will not be) the holiday season for awhile. But, when that time comes around, we will need a list of families that may have had a little more than their share of setbacks this year. Please remember that the core of the Christmas Basket Project is the names of families(STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL) submitted by our members to receive a basket. The heart of Elkdom needs eyes and ears in our community now so we can help those in need.
Please drop off the names, addresses, phone numbers & number of people in family of any de-serving families at the lodge, watch for the donation envelopes in next month’s newletter and watch for the sign up at the Lodge to join us for breakfast and then help pack & deliver these wonderful baskets to local families. It’s GREAT to be Elk - - Merry Christmas!!!!
