Page 1: War on Women - Cunningham Statement

The War On Women Cunningham Style

"Excuses never solutions" is the mantra from the Tucson City Council. 'It is the State Legislature fault,' 'the Governor did it,' and now Paul Cunningham adds 'I was drunk.' Just another excuse. Revitalize Tucson believes the people voting in the upcoming Tucson City election have the right to the facts and the truth. In a scathing report by City Attorney Mike Rankin it is clear: Paul Cunningham is the War on Women in the Old Pueblo.

Once again, in true City Council form, the attempt is to create false outrage. The true outrage is that in any other corporate environment Cunningham, a verified serial harasser, would have been held accountable and fired. Instead a pitiful attempt at redirection, to hide the real facts and distort the truth, is launched.

Here are the FACTS:

A scathing report was issued by City Attorney Mike Rankin that found:

- Three young women were harassed by a Tucson City Councilman: Paul Cunningham

- the trip was funded by the taxpayers

- two of the women reported similar comments on prior occasions

- Cunningham described the harassment as "banter"

- Tucson Councilman Karen Uhlich suggested Cunningham think about resigning

- Tucson Councilman Regina Romero voiced concerns of Cunningham's ability to be effective

- State-wide headlines read: "Report: Tucson councilman harassed 3 city workers"

"Report: Cunningham sexually harassed city workers"

"Paul Cunningham's sexual remarks on junket reviewed"

And the Tucson Sentinel reported:

- 15 people witnessed or had personal knowledge of Cunningham's sexually-charged remarks
