BRIEF OVERVIEW Ward 36 is based in region 1 which occupies 528 km² of the land area in Tshwane, total population in the ward is approximately 22 912 and the total number of households are 5 582. Below is a graphical representation of the spatial form of the ward.

Total population in ward 36 based on the STATSSA census 2011 is 22 912 i.e. 4 percent of the total population in Region 1. The figure above also indicates the total population in ward 36 disaggregated by racial groups. It can be noted from the figure that approximately 97,7 percent of the population in the ward are Black Africans, the White, Coloured, Asian and Indian population consume less than 2,3 percent of the total population in the ward.

The figure above indicates the total population in ward 36 disaggregated by age group, it can be noted from the figure that ward 36 has the largest population of individuals between the ages 15 -24 years, currently recorded at approximately 29,8 percent of the ward total, 26,4 percent of the population in the ward is between the ages 35 – 64 years, 20,7 percent of the population is younger than 15 years, 18 percent is between the ages 25 – 34 years, and 5,1 percent 65 years or older.

Population by level of schooling

Population in the ward 36 has relatively high schooling levels that meet and/or exceed the functional literacy levels (i.e. completed primary education) i.e. approximately 77,5, percent of the population in ward 36 are functionally literate. As indicated in the figure, only 3,3 percent of the population in the ward have no schooling, 18,9 percent have some primary, 3,7 percent have completed primary, 32,7 percent have some secondary, 31,1 percent have matric and 10 percent have post matric qualifications.
