Dear Parents / Carers, Book Parade What another great event we held last week as part of our Book Fair. The Book Parade was so well represented and what amazing efforts all the students put in to look so wonderful on Thursday. The amount of parents and community members was also impressive with us really filling our whole concrete areas. Thanks for coming and supporting the morning, as well as our year 6 cake stall and enjoying our first whole school picnic. Staffing Mrs O’Brien and Mrs White are at present enjoying some Long Service Leave. Mrs Brown is teaching 1O and Ms Ingle is teaching KW. Role Modelling We have a wonderful, inclusive school here at Warnervale and enjoy the strong partnerships with our families and community. We also enjoy sharing our successes and those of our students. Each week we hold an assembly and every term we have special community events, such as our book parade last Thursday. It is important that at each of these events, adults behave respectfully and with courtesy. We need to continually strive to be positive role models for our students and ask that you always ensure positive behaviour when joining us in our many events. Swim School Term 4 Additional places have now been offered to Year 5 and 6 students to fill the last remaining places. If your child is unable to competently swim 50 metres or who are not confident in the water we strongly encourage them to attend this scheme. Additional Swim School Permission Notes will be available on the website and from the school office. Congratulations Yasmin B represented our school at the Sydney North athletics carnival last week and not only did it with pride, but won the 100m for 13yr girls. Wow, what a great achievement. She will now represent Sydney North at the state carnival on October 18. End of Term What an action packed Term 3 we have enjoyed at Warnervale: Naidoc Celebrations, Coding workshops, Education Week: open classrooms, multiple Meal Deals, Touch football, Oz Tag, Public Speaking competitions, Premiers Spelling Bee, Book Fair, Book parade and picnic, Parent Teacher Interviews, Netball, Fathers Day Stall, and Father’s Day breakfast, Zone and Sydney North Athletics, Year 6 Fundraisers, GATS Camp, Resilience Day, Choral festival rehearsals to name a few. It’s time for us all to enjoy a well earned holiday! We look forward to seeing you all on Monday October 9 for the start of Term 4. I wish you all a happy and safe holiday. Dear Parents / Carers,

Book Parade

What another great event we held last week as part of our Book Fair.

Staffing

Mrs O’Brien and Mrs White are at present enjoying some Long Service Leave. Mrs Brown is teaching 1O and Ms Ingle is teaching KW.

Role Modelling

We have a wonderful, inclusive school here at Warnervale and enjoy the strong partnerships with our families and community.

Swim School Term 4

Additional places have now been offered to Year 5 and 6 students to fill the last remaining places. If your child is unable to competently swim 50 metres or who are not confident in the water we strongly encourage them to attend this scheme. Additional Swim School Permission Notes will be available on

the website and from the school office.

Congratulations

Yasmin B represented our school at the Sydney North athletics carnival last week and not only did it with pride, but won the 100m for 13yr girls. Wow, what a great achievement. She will now represent Sydney North at the state carnival on October 18.

End of Term

Class Awards 2017 Term 3 Week 9 and 10

This term our focus is RESILIENCE Negative Habits of the Mind can lead to poor emotional resilience in children and adults, these are: Self-downing- thinking that I am useless or a total failure when I have been rejected or have not achieved a goal Needing to be Perfect- thinking that I need to be successful or perfect in everything important I do Needing Approval- thinking that I need people to approve of me and that, when they don’t, it’s the worst thing in the world I Can’t Do it- thinking that, when I have not been successful at something important, I am not good at anything and never will be I Can’t Be Bothered- thinking that life should always be fun and exciting and that I can’t stand it when things frustrating or boring. Being Intolerant of Other- thinking that people should always treat me fairly, considerately and the way I want and that, when they are not, they are rotten people and I have a right to get back at them. Reslience skills to help stop you feeling extremely angry, down or worried: -finding something fun to do -finding someone to talk to -relaxation -exercise -being assertive -changing negative to positive self-talk -not blowing things out of proportion -figuring out how to solve the problem
