Warp Films is a creative British independent company which is based in London and

now has a further office in Melbourne, Australia. Warp Films have created financial

support from NESTA. The film ‘My Wrongs’ won Best Short Film at 2003 BAFTA’s and it

became the first short film DVD dingle in the UK market. The film was on a tight budget

and was filmed in 22 days it was nominated for a record eight British Independent Film

Awards.

Wraps Films had a big success with ‘ This is England’ it has gathered many awards. It

has gained awards from Best Film at the British Independent Films Awards, the Special

Jury Prize at the Rome Film Festival and Best British Film at the BAFTA’s. The film has

had box office successes such as ‘Hush’, ‘ This is England’ , ‘Four Lions’ and

‘Submarine’.

Submarine had a £1.2 million budget and got a box office profit of £2.03 million. On

the opening weekend the film had made £244,476 and been shown on 60 screens. And

in the USA the film on the opening produced $41,832 and that was shown on 4 screens.

2. Warp films is part of Warp and there is Warp records.

 

In April 2008, Australian film distributor

Madman Entertainment announced "a collaboration" with Warp

Films.

 

Madman Entertainment is an Australian company that

distributes international films as well as Japanese anime and

manga in Australia and New Zealand.

The majority of these films are about British life. They target British Audiences by

making realistic films set in the UK. The actors in the films are mainly British.

Submarine.

Submarine was a 2010 coming of age comedy that was adapted from a 2008

novel of the same name. It was written and directed by Richard Ayoade, it

was his directorial debut.

 

Warp Films and Film Four produced the film. Filming started on the 26th of

October 2009 and finished in December 2009. Andrew Hewitt composed the

music and the musician Alex Turner from The Arctic Monkeys contributed 5

songs.

 

Around 100 actors submitted video auditions for the roles of Oliver, Jordana

and Chips. Michael Sheen and X Factor contestant Lucie Jones were

originally cast in the film but dropped out due to other commitments.

 

The film premiered at the 35th Toronto International Film Festival in

September 2010. The Weinstein Company released the film in North

America. The film also played at the 54th London Film Festival in October

2010. It was released in the UK on the 18th of March 2011.
