Principal’s Pen !If you were ever in Scouts, “Be Prepared” is a familiar phrase that simply means “Have a Plan” or “Think About What You Would Do If…” We at WCS take this advice to heart, too, as we work every day to keep your children safe while they are in our care. Already this year we have had two evacuation drills, teaching everyone what to do if we needed to leave the building for any reason in order to stay safe. We have taught, practiced, discussed, and practiced again; students have handled this learning very well and we expect they will continue to “think about what you would do if…” as we hold such drills in the future. !This week we also practiced our first lockdown drill, as well. This drill had everyone “shelter in place” and follow our procedures for staying safe within the building if we have knowledge of a potentially dangerous situation outside or within our school. Again, we have taught, practiced, discussed, and will practice again. Being prepared enables our practice to help us stay safe in a variety of situations – that we work hard every day to never actually have to put into action. Your children, our students, demonstrated their ability to remain calm, follow directions, and look to the adults at WCS for guidance and support – a winning combination when the priority is staying safe!
National School Bus Safety Week!! !October 17-21st!
On October 19th all buses will do an evacuation at WCS.!
October 20th will be bus driver appreciation day!
