MissionO Warren Correctional Institution strives to
provide offenders with various work details,
education and vocational training, as well as
social skill development, thus enhancing
their ability to return to society and live a
more law-abiding life.
OverviewO Warren Correctional Institution is designated
as a male, medium custody facility. Our
population consists of 702 Regular
Population beds, 42 Restrictive Housing
beds, 9 Minimum Custody beds, and 10
Protective Custody cells.
StaffingO 327 permanent staff positions consisting of
Custody, Food Service, Programs, Medical,
Dental, Mental Health, Administration and
Maintenance personnel.
O Case Management, A.B.E.L. (At Both Ends of
the Lease) Dog Training Program,
Educational/Vocational Programs, Religious
Services, AA/NA Programs, & offender Work
assignments (Correctional Enterprise’s
Janitorial Products Plant and Unit jobs).
Programs
O At Both Ends of the Leash
O The ABEL program is focused on producing skilled assistance dogs that will improve the lives of Eyes Ears Nose and Paws (EENP) clients – and ABEL gives the offender-trainers the opportunity to improve their own lives as well.
O ABEL is a partnership between DPS and EENP which is a nonprofit organization located in the Chapel Hill area. They train and place Mobility Assistance and Medical Alert Dogs as well as provide ongoing support to working Assistance Dog Teams that have graduated through their programs.
A.B.E.L
Medical
O Warren provides 16/7 coverage by onsite nurses.
O Onsite Dental program provides dental care for the
offenders assigned here as well as Odom
Correctional Institution.
Food Service
O In addition to providing three hot meals daily
to our offender population, Warren also
prepares over 3500 meals a month for the
Warren County Jail offenders.
O Kosher diet program
Maintenance
O Warren has an onsite maintenance staff dedicated to the repair and preventive maintenance program for the facility.
O They also coordinate larger repair projects through Division Facility Services and Central Engineering when the project exceeds the scope of our resources.
Janitorial Products PlantO Correctional Enterprise’s Janitorial Products Plant is commonly
referred to as JPP.
O Production of cleaning products which include liquid and dry cleansers, disinfectants, floor maintenance products, commercial dishwasher and laundry detergents.
O JPP also offers a Prison Industry Enhancement Certification Program (PIE Program) which is a partnership between Correction Enterprises and private business to place offenders in realistic work environments, pay them prevailing wages, and give them a chance to develop marketable skills that will increase their potential for rehabilitation and meaningful employment upon release.

O Three 136 bed Units each consisting of four 34 bed open dormitories.
O One 168 cell Unit consisting of three 42 bed single cell dormitories and one 42 cell Restrictive Housing unit.
O One 168 bed single cell Unit divided into 10 dormtories.
