The President's Message

I would like to take this opportunity to

welcome you all to the 2012 baseball

season here at Continental Little

League!

A lot of time and energy has been

put into creating this state-of-the-art

complex. I would like to thank all

those companies and volunteers

who donated their time, materials,

and expertise. Your generosity is great-

ly appreciated, and always

remembered. With that said, there

is still a lot more to be done. In order

for W.C.L.L. to succeed and grow,

we need solid support from all

parents, coaches and Board Members.

We are a volunteer organization; the more hands the better.

So please…GET INVOLVED!

Running a league of 250+ ballplayers is not an inexpensive en-

deavor. In order to provide a safe and exciting environment, money

needs to be spent. We will be running fundraisers throughout the

season. Every little bit helps, and believe me, it is going towards a

great cause.

Any organization is only as strong as its members. The Board of

Directors of the league is a hard-working group whose dedication

and energy is amazing I would like to take this opportunity to thank

each and every one of them for their help and support.

As always, I wish the managers, coaches, and especially the ball-

players, good luck, and great success.

Each team will play a 20-game schedule, A playoff tournament will be held involving all teams. The winner of the playoff tournament will rep-resent Continental Little League in the 2012 Warwick City Series in late summer. Three Tournament teams will be selected by the Major League play-ers and managers near the end of the regular season. 10-year-old and 11-year old teams will represent Continental in the R.I. State Tournament. The 12-year-old team will represent Continental in the Little League World Series tournament.

This division will consist of 4 and 5 year olds and some 6 year old players. Both players and coaches will begin learning training skills and drills for im-proved play. At least one adult per player is required to be present for all practices to monitor and support their children. A fun-filled 2012 season will culminate with the “Claim to Fame” games.

This year's Instructional League will be comprised of a Tee Ball division. This division will offer young athletes an introduction to the fundamentals of base-ball and sportsmanship. Volunteer coaches, providing the groundwork for successful Little League careers, will teach basic concepts. The coaches ask for parental involvement, both on and off the field, to assist them. Snack bar coverage, field maintenance and on-field coaching assistance are only a few of the areas where parents can help.

Please support Continental Little League and its activities. Parental involve-ment is essential for a successful Little League experience. Best wishes to all Instructional League players and their coaches for a safe, fun-filled 2012 season.
