SUPERFIERCE is a term I use to describe the most authentic and awe-inspiring people in my life. This movement and exhibit began because I wanted to create something I couldn't find when I graduated from art school: a support system for female artists to grow as both creators and business owners, and to give back to other women in their professional communities.

What an exciting project this has been to launch in my hometown of Washington, D.C.! SUPERFIERCE will be a year- long traveling exhibit and fundraiser kicking off here in the nation's capital. SUPERFIERCE is made up of a group of fearless female creatives coming together to pay it forward by giving back to artists through a developing mentorship program and supporting our communities through charitable partnerships.

Thank you so much.I can’t wait to see you next month!

FEARLESS FEMALE ARTISTS PAYING IT FORWARD.

On October 19, 2016, artists from across the country will come together for SUPERFIERCE, a traveling art exhibit hosted by female artists paying it forward. The inaugural event, SUPERFIERCE DC, will take place at 6:30 pm in Washington, D.C. at the National Museum of Women in the Arts located at 1250 New York Ave., N.W.

SUPERFIERCE consists of three main platforms: 1. A traveling art exhibit highlighting the work of each host city’s most exciting and inspiring women artists, from nationally renowned to local, undiscovered talent. 2. A charity component to raise awareness and give back to important women focused non-profits in each of the host cities. 3. A mentorship program that will connect aspiring female artists to those who can provide professional advice on becoming a “working artist.”

SUPERFIERCE DC will benefit EBeauty, a local non- profit organization that supports women undergoing treatment for cancer through the EBeauty Community, Wig Exchange Program and other charitable initiatives.

The evening will feature: • 40+ pieces of artwork from acclaimed artists Lana Gomez, Ashley Longshore, Maggie O’Neill, Dominique Fierro, Lesley Devrouax, and Violetta Markelou. Additional D.C. artists to be announced this month. • Beats by DJ Neekola • MC - Michelle Schoenfeld and Chris Cooley • Open bar of speciality cocktails, champagne and wine • Food by Ridgewells • Silent Auction

Lana Gomez’s work has a sense of freedom and heart that reflects the boundless, yet kind rebel that she is. After studying art at the University of Tennessee, Gomez moved to Los Angeles, where she continued to experiment with acrylics and an evolving mixtures of materials.

From a 10-foot guitar sculpture for Gibson GuitarTown for the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood to mural sized pieces that transport you into another world-Gomez continues to push the boundaries in her work.

She displayed her work in her own showroom in West Hollywood from 2011-2012, and today her pieces are featured everywhere from the legendary Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills to outdoor venues, office buildings, and private residences as well as in trend-setting publications such as House Beautiful, InStyle, Lonny, Los Angeles Confidential and The New Yorker.

From lines of glitter cocaine to Jesus surrounded by Louis Vuitton to Kate Moss dressed as a nun, Ashley Longshore’s pop art is never shy of daring. Her art makes noise.

Both Town & Country Magazine and The New York Post have compared Ashley, a prolific artist at a pivotal moment in her career to Andy Warhol, noting the similarity in their obsession with pop culture icons and current brands.

Dubbed by Elle Magazine as “New Orleans’ Most Bad Ass Artist”, her over the top personality has earned her quite the reputation on social media. Touted by Fast Company Magazine as one of their “Most Creative People” and recognized by Forbes as one of the “Leading Business Women in the South”, Ashley’s non-traditional approach to marketing her work, represents a new wave in an industry that is undergoing its own digital revolution.

EBeauty’s mission is to enhance and strengthen the education, charitable and community support network for women undergoing cancer treatments.

The organization works to improve the quality of life of women undergoing chemothera-py treatments through the imple-mentation of its Wig Exchange Program and through awareness building events.

EBeauty’s primary goal is to provide all women, regardless of economic status, access to wigs in order to restore their self-image and confidence during cancer treatments.

EBeauty Community is proud to offer a national wig exchange program through which women can donate wigs they no longer need to others who are undergoing Chemotherapy treatments.

Hair is an integral part of a woman’s life and for women undergoing chemotherapy, the loss of their hair can add another layer of emotional strain and impact self-image during an already traumatic time. Wigs are expensive (generally costing from $700-$5,000) and many women, especially those struggling to cover health care bills, cannot afford the cost of a quality wig. At EBeauty, we believe every woman experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy should have access to a wig in which she can feel beauti-ful throughout the recovery process.

We also believe there is power in paying forward the gift of a wig once treatment is complete, health recovered and hair restored. Our wig exchange model is rooted in these ideals.

We aim to meet immediate needs while fostering a cycle of giving, receiving, hope and healing.

EBeauty’s primary goal is to provide all women, regardless of economic status, access to wigs in order to restore their self-image and confidence during cancer treatments.
