Washington, D.C., United State's capital. The city stands on the Potomac river and bordered by the state of Maryland to the

north and Virginia to the south. The city is named for George Washington, military leader of the American Revolution and the

first President of the United States.There are many places of interest in Washington.

The White House, the official residence of the president. The oldest public building in Washington, D.C., is also

the most famous residence in America. George Washington never lived in the White House. The White House has been the home of all American presidents.

At the east end of the mall is Capitol Hill. It is place, where laws are passed. The Capitol has housed

chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for almost two centuries

Across the street from the Capitol building is the Supreme Court. This is

place where the laws are interpreted by the judges in the United States.

Lincoln Memorial

• The Memorial looks like a Greek temple, and it has 36 columns, one for each state at the time of Lincoln death. It is a very important symbol, because Lincoln spent his life trying to keep the country united

Right next door to the White House is the United States Department of the Treasury. Today, the Treasury

Building, designed by Robert Mills, is one of Pennsylvania Avenue's historic structures. Considered by many people

it is the most spectacular Greek revival building in the United States

The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, named after the 40th president of the United

States, is the first federal building in Washington, D.C., designed for both governmental and private sector purposes. Each of the organizations which calls this

building home is dedicated to international trade and globalization.

The Library of Congress was established by an act of Congress in 1800. The Library of Congress is the largest

national library in the world.

Reading Room

The National Cathedral started in 1907 with a ceremonial address by President

Theodore Roosevelt. The Cathedral is the sixth largest in the world, second largest

in the United States.

the most general streets in Washington,the heart of the city.

Park are irresistible and entertaining.
