What is waste ?

Any material that is no longer useful to us is called waste.

Why is waste a problem?

It spreads diseases

When the garbage is collected into garbage dumps, animals & insects gather around & spreads germs.

Due to rain water, the chemicals in the garbage gets into underground water &

pollute the drinking water.

If we burn the garbage it also pollutes the air or stinks.

A big deep pit which is dug to dispose off all kitchen waste into,

it is called compost pit.

• Waste on the streets spreads diseases

• The chemicals in the garbage are washed into the soil by the rain

• They get into the underground water and water gets polluted.

Why does the underground water get polluted?

Because we can use

biodegradable waste

for recycling

to help the environment

Why should we recycle goods?

We can melt this things and make again new reusable items out of it.

Plastic

Aluminum cans

How can we reduce the garbage?

• Refuse

• Reduce

• Reuse

• Recycle

• We should refuse to buy unnecessary things which generate more waste.

• Reduce the amount of garbage

generated.

• Buy things with fewer packaging.

• Use cloth or jute bags for shopping

• Reuse things of tin, cans, bottles and do not waste paper.

• Give items to rag pickers which can be recycled
