NGI.NO ON SAFE GROUND WAS-XL | Webinar series Wave loads And Soil support for eXtra Large monopiles The Wave loads And Soil support for eXtra Large monopiles multi-disciplinary research project (2017-2020) has developed new knowledge in the analysis of irregular, nonlinear wave loads on large-diameter monopiles supporting offshore wind turbines and the interaction between non-linear wave loads and non-linear soil response. NGI has been responsible for the geotechnical aspects, with an overall objective of establishing procedures to predict load-history-consistent soil stiffness and soil damping, by taking complex drainage condition into account. NGI has the pleasure of inviting you to the WAS-XL webinar series, which will take place every Wednesday afternoon, from October 14th to November 11th. The webinars will provide an arena for dissemination of the WAS-XL findings series - with focus on the geotechnical aspects, and a plat- form to present and discuss unresolved challenges from design of offshore wind turbine foundations. In addition, international experts with multidisciplinary backgrounds will contribute to the webinar series, bringing in their expertise related to offshore wind monopile performance and design and their views on the future research needs of the offshore wind industry. Participation at the webinars is free of charge. PLEASE VISIT WWW.NGI.NO/WAS-XL FOR MORE INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION PARTNERS The WAS-XL project has been sponsored by The Research Council of Norway, Equinor, EDF, RWE, Vattenfall and Multiconsult. Sintef Ocean coordinating the project with the support from NGI and NTNU.
