Miracle of Life Cycle of Baby BirdsPosted: 13 Jan 2015 05:38 PM PSTThis past summer in early July, I was outside my house trimming the shrub that is really close to thewindow of our home office and right where my desk is situated. Sitting at my desk, I can stare out thewindow and see my yard and this shrub. As I started to trim off the branches to get this shrub moremanageable, I saw a bird's nest high up in the shrub. I reached up to take a closer look and realized tomy complete surprise that newborn baby birds were in the bird nest.

Just born, baby birds, there are two of them in the nest.

Just born baby bird waiting for Momma bird to come with food.

From the two photos, above, these baby birds are on day 1 of life. I never got to see the eggs, butwatching these baby birds closely through my window, was beyond fascinating. The pruning of theshrub gave me a wide open view of the baby birds as they grew. Of course, I felt very guilty and worriedthat the baby birds were exposed to predators since I cut away branches of the shrub that was coveringthem. Momma bird was extremely busy all the time with bringing food to the babies. She was eithersitting on them in the nest or out foraging for food for them. Whenever I tried to take a picture ofMomma bird, she flew off. So, I have no pictures of Momma bird, unfortunately.

I think Day 3 of Baby Birds life.

Lots and lots of chirping going on between Momma bird, baby birds and I think Daddy bird too. I sawanother bird that looked like Momma bird, but was always flying away before I could get the picture.

Baby birds are growing feathers and are hungry all the time.

Not sure what day it was in there growth, but feathers were developing and they were much more alert. The baby birds either had their mouths open looking for food or sleeping.

Baby birds, last photo taken before they left the nest.

One day I looked out at the nest and there was no baby birds in the nest. They flew off and went outinto the world. I was so thrilled to watch this process. It was the summer of the baby birds, afascinating few of nature right in my backyard. I didn't even have to leave my house to watch it.

I took all the photos from inside my house through my open window standing on my office desk lookingdown at the birds. I did my best to not disturb the babies. I don't know what kind of bird these are. If you do, please comment below. I would love to know.
