Welcome to the World
The first few years of babies life is full of growing, learning & changing.Parents enjoy watching, guiding & sharing as theyexperiencing the world through a newborns eyes once again.
Sleep
Baby needs a firm mattress so he/she can kick, rock & move safely. Let baby restbut not all the time. Changebabies position from time to time so they can develop strong muscles.
Feeling Safe
Move baby to the playpen so he/she can watch parents, siblings & household pets. Let baby smell & hear the sounds of your happy home. Being part of family should be comfortable. Remember to supervise baby to keep him/ her safe!
Bathing
Baby is as anxious as you are.Don’t leave baby alone! Let baby smile in the mirror, play with a tub toy & put warm water at minimum level. Baby is small & does not need lots of water to wash.
Stimulation
Let baby squeeze your finger in his/ her palm. Provide colorful safe toys that ring, squeak & rattle. Have soft lighting, play soft music, add happy laughter & singing. Give “good” touches & safe play so both of you can experiencefun & happiness together!
Exploration
Baby explores using the five senses: sight, touch, smell, taste, & hearing. Baby will flail his/her arms, legs, pull things, & put things in their mouth while learning about themselves & gaining control of their body. Parents move danger out of babies way as he/ she explores.
Language
Language starts with making sounds. Repeat sounds baby makes, laugh & smile when they repeat sounds back to you.Read to baby, chat with baby, make & use flash cards to start word recognition. Play peek-a-boo & watch baby smile & coo. Learning should be fun!
Teeth
Baby is not happy with gums enlarged, red & swollen. Once the tooth is visible, baby goes back to their normal happy self. Baby will trying his / hernew teeth out biting everything including you! Give baby safethings to chew on. Remember, good dental care should start young!
Adventure
Baby is an active explorer, busy moving, experimenting &learning about his / her environment. Get him / heroutside to interact with people & events outside the home. Tell baby the name ofeverything in sight & follow up with pictures to reinforce theincidental learning at home.
Play Time
Baby rolls, laughs, plays withhis / her fingers, toes & is ticklish. Let baby use toysthat he/ she bang, toss & drop. Make funny faces, cover & uncover toys asking, “Where did it go?” Babylikes to hear happy sounds!
WalkingTry to establish a dailyroutine with exercise & rest times. Babies usually roll, crawl, fall, then walk. Provide enjoyable outings to the park, the zoo, day care, relative or friends’ homes. Praise baby for trying new things. Fill babies life with active fun!
Growing
Baby continue to needencouragement & protection to grow strong. Survival in our world has never been easy& baby needs lots of “good” hugs to make their way in theworld! Parents are not only babies safety net when they fail, but their rudder to guide him or her to success!
