Principal Objective
To rehabilitate the water sector, quite close to emergency, in the governatorate of Basrah
before the situation get worse especially for the new presence of returned refugees.
- N° of rehabilitations on 123 Compact Units and 12 Water Treatment plants,
- Water borne diseases decrease among refugees
- Unicef Reports- Governatorate Reports
- Good coordination among NGOs, National and International Organizations
- Security in Bashra Area remains the same of the last months in 2003 or better
SpecificObjective
Returnees and the other beneficiaries in Al Medaina have access to water for domestic use and primary courses on safe water use.

Expected Results

-Total residual chlorine value at the output of the plants in according with the request of the Department of Water of Basra
-Water quantity for each persons above the 20 litres/day

-Test at the output of the plants on chlorine dosage and turbidity level with digital instruments
-Sample test with portable kit in the villages for E-Choli presence in the water
-The plants rehabilitated is maintained by operators of the Department of Water
-The Department of Water of Basra supply the chemicals and the fuel for the correct running of the plant
