WATER SUPPLY
In the next elections new council was elected.
One of the item in their manifesto was to remove the meters and charge at flat rates
With the pressure of 11% of people (Rich & Commercial Consumers) who were paying above Rs.100/- the meters were removed and charged @ Rs.60/- flat rate per month.
WATER SUPPLY
Results of this decision Intermediate supply 2 hrs /day was introduced Leakages increased due to water Hammers & irregular
maintenance System used to get contaminated from the point of leakages Use of domestic pumps increased System pressure reduced and people started digging pits for
collection of water Higher level people were not getting water
WATER SUPPLY
Results of this decision The Government the flat rate from Rs.60/- to Rs.100/- More than 50% people who were getting 24hrs water supply at
Rs.40/- were forced to pay Rs.100 for Intermittent supply. The system continued to get detoriated due to improper
maintenance and resulted in supply of water from alternate day to once in week with regular timings
More man power is being used to isolate zone wise/street wise to give water .
WATER SUPPLY
Resulted in big public dissatisfaction
“If you do not follow good practices you will end with bad results”
