Creating a retrospective keepsake of the year while recycling that old diary is simple and fun with the

Purple Cows 2 in 1 Combo Trimmer and Decorative Click Blades.



Step by Step:

1. Taking your years diary or date book, decide how many sectionsyou want, separate the sections out and then stick the pages togetherusing the glue glider pro creating thicker stronger pages to attach thewaterfall mechanisms to.

2. Paint each section with some gesso to push whatever diary en-tries there may be back into the pages, although not entirely blockingthem out. I like the fact this project uses my diary that I have lived withfor a year and that in itself is a memory that I still want to see peekingthrough. Leave it to one side to dry, try and leave it standing up so thepages dont stick together!

3. While the pages are drying trim the cardstock to create the waterfallmechanisms. You can adapt the sizes to t your own project obviouslyyour book maybe be smaller or larger than mine but I will give my mea-surements as a guide. On the guillotine side of the 2 in 1 combo trim-mer I trimmed 7 strips of card to ll my sections 11 3/4 x 1 3/4.

4. Fitting the score blade #2811 into the rotary side of the 2 in 1 trim-mer score the strips of card. I scored it at 6 1/2 so the long part of themechanism would overhang my pages by about and inch and would sit 1/2 down from the top edge of the page. I then scored at 3/4 inter -vals, creating 6 sections for 6 photos and was left with a slightly widersection at the end for adhering to the holding strip. Fold all these sec-tions, creasing the folds well.



5. Next change the blade in the rotary trimmer for #2810 colonialcut and trim some cardstock to create the holding strips. Mine are 3x 3/4. You need to make them wide enough to allow the long strip toslide through easily when it is attached.

6. While still at the trimmer change the decora-tive click blade to #2812 stamp edge. Trim somemats for all your little photos. I made mine 2 x 1

3/4. I love the fact that my little photos eventu -ally look like a series of postage stamps using thisblade for the mats. I used a selection of papersfrom the Cosmo Cricket wanted paper pad to mixup the colors and then inked all the edges withinks from the colourbox pumpkin patch stackerfor some added de nition. After printing out myphotos I then trimmed them with the guillotine,leaving a white edge for some cheating mattingand layering. My photos were all around 1 3/4 x1 1/2 and the accurate cutting with the guillotineensured they were all perfectly trimmed.

7. Before adding the photos to the strips I used a decorativepunch at the pull end of my long strips and then putting deco-rative click blade #2810 into the freestyle mouse I trimmedthe edges for even more decorative appeal and to tie them inwith the holding strips. The nishing touch was a thin piece of ribbon threaded through the punched shape.

8. Using the glue glider pro add a strip of permanent adhesive to each section of the strip just be-low the crease. After matting the photos to the stamp shaped rectangles add them to each sectionof the strip, layering them from the bottom up.

9. Going back to the now dry diary pages, add some ink from the pumpkin patch stacker and stampsome swirls around the pages using the colorbox khaki archival ink, build up the layers until yourehappy.



10 Using the glue arts extreme adhesive micro squares add the holding bars to the pages about 1/4 up from the bottom edge. I added a colored staple for extra security and added decor. Slidethe long side of the photo strip under the holding strip and again using the extreme adhesive micro

squares add some to the bottom edge of the long strip to adhere the bottom of the mechanism to thetop of the holding strip, stick in place. Now you can pull the tab and see the photos ip.

11. With a permanent pen add some journalling to each section.I have made mine quite notey as I would write in my diary, Iveadded key dates and words that evoke the memory.

12. Lastly punch a hole and set an eyelet front and back,

threading with ribbon to act as a fastener for the book and addsome Cosmo Cricket teeny alphas, some paper owers and alittle bling to decorate the cover.

An ordinary diary transformed into a very personal retrospective of my year, a kind of journal within a journal and something to treasure.I hope you enjoy looking back on your year and creating with your
