Suitability concerns include the public wharves and a fuel dock within the reach.

Most portions of the reach are exposed to southeast and northwest storm waves penetrating or generated within the sound, although semi-protection has been encountered by commercial operations located along the Denman Island shore. Near-shore depths range between 10 and 50 metres.
