GOING FOR THE GREEN

One of KFL&A’s favourite charity golf tournaments is getting set to tee off for the 35th time. The Ambassador Hotel Memorial Golf Classic is Thursday, August 13th at the Loyalist Golf & Country Club. The tournament is in support of United Way KFLA and University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

Whether you’re looking to reward your staff, entertain a client or just make a few new friends, you’ll have a great time and support a couple of great causes, all at the same time.

Registration is $185 per person and includes green fees, cart rental, lunch, dinner and a gift bag! The registration deadline is July 30th.

For more information, please email [email protected].

SEEING IS BELIEVING

What if there was a way for you to give your campaign team an extra dose of Spirit of Community, just in time for kick-off?

The Seeing Is Believing bus is ready to roll again for this year’s version of the Seeing Is Believing Tours. The first bus pulls out of the Memorial Centre parking lot on Friday, September 25th at 9:30 a.m. to take you on a four-hour behind-the-scenes tour of some of the United Way funded agencies and give you an up-close-and-personal look at the good work they do in your

community every day. There’s nothing like seeing your donor dollars in action to light a fire under your team as they get ready for kick-off.

To book your seat on the bus on September 25th, please register here. For questions, please call 613-542-2674 or email [email protected].

Can’t make the tour in September? The Seeing Is Believing Bus hits the road again on Thursday, October 15th. Book your tour here.

Can’t make it that day either? No problem. Just call your United Way relationship manager and ask about arranging a custom tour.

RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

John & Diana Weatherall will

generously provide a Leadership

Challenge Grant again this year as

an incentive to encourage others to

become new Leaders of the Way.

You can become a Leader of the Way

by donating $1,200 or more during

Campaign 2015. If you’re already a

Leader, they’ll match all increases of

10% or more.

LOANED REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAMThe Loaned Representative (LR)

Program is a professional and

personal development opportunity

for employees with potential in your

organization.

Employees from public and private

sector organizations are “loaned”

by their employers to help with United

Way’s annual campaign. They bring with

them great energy and enthusiasm to the

campaign. They benefit personally and

professionally through this unique

opportunity.

Loaned Representatives work as part of a

campaign team that supports workplace

campaigns in approximately 400

worksites in KFL&A. They facilitate and

attend campaign meetings and events,

mobilize support, promote the campaign,

train, motivate and support volunteers,

and create awareness about how United

Way is working to build a stronger com-

munity for all.

CAMPAIGN NEWSSome people beat the heat by jumping in the lake or taking a dip in the pool. But there other folks out there who have learned that the best way to beat the heat is to pretend it’s the fall and hold a United Way fundraising event. Here’s a look at what you’ve been up to:

• The Ministry of Children & Youth Services has kicked off their campaign with some fundraising events this month. Bake sales, Ice Cream Bars, and Silent Auctions are all taking place this July in support of United Way KFLA. Way to go Caitlin, Alanna, and Jacob!

• All the employees from Correctional Service Canada (CSC) are still continuing their United Way ‘Shop at Lunch Series’ during lunch time. ‘Let’s Shop at Lunch Series #2’ was held on June 17th at RHQ and raised $220 in support of United Way KFLA. ‘Let’s Shop at Lunch Series #3’ with the Epicure Tasting Extravaganza is scheduled on July 15, 2015. An Epicure rep will be in the RHQ lobby beginning at 11:30am with samples to try and get your taste buds going. 20% of all purchases from the event will be given back to United Way!

• Our local LCBO stores have been busy! Both the Midland Avenue store and the Barrack Street store have chosen United Way KFLA as their charity of choice for this month’s coin boxes!

The Midland Store also sold pulled pork on a bun in support of United Way KFLA.

Don’t forget, if you like to read, be sure to check out the book sale table at the Midland Avenue store. They’re also accepting book donations if you have any books you’d like to pass on to a new reader. Way to go ECC Teresa Graham and ECC Pety Smith!

The next time you’re at your favourite LCBO store, make sure you come with a bit of extra cash. The LCBO’s annual Give Back Where You Live campaign is beginning on July 23rd, with proceeds from all KFL&A stores going to Campaign 2015.

Last year, 75,000 people in our community were helped by United Way funded agencies.

Thank you for your donation.
