A calorie is a unit of energy that provides the body with fuel. This fuel becomes the energy we use to per-form the essential functions of daily life. There are four sources of calories: carbohy-drates, fats, proteins and alcohol. Regardless of where they come from, the calories we consume
are either used for physical energy or stored as fat. When you eat more calories than you burn off, that remaining energy is stored as fat, and you gain weight.
