White Cloth Gallery showcases challenging, stimulating and energetic work from established and emerging artists from across the globe, whilst also being the basis of a busy and exciting arts centre.

Within 3 months of launching, White Cloth Gallery achieved the status of being one of the top 5 art galleries within the UK according to Elle UK, with extensive exposure within well respected national and regional publications.

So far we have had over 179 pieces of coverage published to over 70, 000, 000 circulation.

The primary focus of White Cloth Gallery is to display work from iconic or highly respected photographers alongside new and emerging artists.

Events, seminars and corporate hospitality are regularly held at the premises and the gallery is also supporter and host to many charity events.

White Cloth Gallery actively collaborates with arts organisations and high end corporate businesses on an on going basis.

A unique café/style bar is also located within the premises with its own catering that also facilitates events.

The gallery is host to professional networking organisations such as Welcome to Yorkshire, Chamber of Commerce and The Law Society, bringing together the business community.

White Cloth is centrally located on Aire Street and within 30 seconds walk of the train station. Since opening our doors in April 2012, we have entertained thousands of people with our varied exhibitions and events, creating an exciting buzz and international interest in the gallery.

The second quarterly ‘What's on at WCG?’ programme will have a circulation of 20,000 and a readership of approx. 50,000 and will be widely distributed to:-

Rokas Darulis' first uk solo exhibition 'intimacy' to premiere at the white cloth gallery

Unique exhibition by acclaimed editorial photographer lays bare the subject of intimacy

Lithuanian photographer Rokas Darulis, whose powerful editorial photography has made him a go-to for leading fashion titles since the age of 23, is for the first time set to unveil a series of photographs simply entitled 'Intimacy' at Leeds' White Cloth Gallery this Winter.

Captured up close and laid bare, Darulis sensitively captures the raw natural beauty and vunerability of his subjects in a moment where those behind and in front of the camera enjoy a mutual trust. The resulting snapshots appear to capture deeply private moments and succeed in presenting a profound closeness, moving beyond the commercial world that Rokas is normally privy to as an editorial photographer.

As well as the premiere of an exciting new multi-media piece by the artist, the exhibition will also include the acclaimed photograph entitled, 'Ernest and Ernest' - an image that was exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery in London, as part of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Prize in 2010.

Donald Weber

Webers’ work has appeared in numerous international publications including Amica, Der Speigel, The Guardian, Newsweek, New York Times, New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, Stern, Time and The Walrus.

He has worked with the NGO's Medecins sans Frontieres, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and War Child.

Weber's photography projects have been exhibited at festivals and galleries worldwide including the United Nations, Museum of the Army at Les Invalides in Paris, the Portland Museum of Art and the Alice Austen House Museum in New York.

Other major awards include the Duke and Duchess of York Photography Prize, two World Press Photo awards, PDN's 30 and was named an Emerging Photo Pioneer by American Photo.

White Cloth Gallery are exciting in welcoming such a prestigious photographer to the gallery in February 2013.

Maciej's photos have been widely published and exhibited around the world, shown at photo festivals (including Visa Pour l'Image international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France) and he is a recipient of numerous awards.

He was profiled among other leading street photographers in the "Street Photography Now" book published by the British publisher Thames & Hudson, who has also published Maciej's first monograph “Cardiff After Dark” in October 2012.

Maciej Dakowicz

Maciej is a Polish photographer, traveller and gallerist living in London, UK. He holds a PhD in computer science, but abandoned science to focus on photography. He is one of the founders of Third Floor Gallery in Cardiff, a member of the Wideangle photo agency and the un-posed Polish street photography collective.

He has worked on various photographic projects in the UK and abroad, organised and run numerous photography workshops and his interests are in documentary, travel and street photography.

Wish You Were Here

The exhibition features pictures taken by Leeds United supporters who were part of the 1980's casual youth moment; taken of a time when social networking sites were a thing of the future; there's football, there's fashion and it's a little bit edgy.

The pictures brilliantly capture a slice of British culture that will be familiar to some, and introduce a new generation of viewers to this particular twin obsession of fashion and football that they won't have encountered before.

Bowie by Duffy

Duffy Archive presents a unique exhibition of the late Brian Duffy's photography of David Bowie, to coincide with the Victoria & Albert's 2013 exhibition called 'Bowie is'.

The Duffy collection which comprises images from four photographic sessions with David Bowieincluding three album covers documents Duffy's special relationship with the artist during this period. The work spans from Ziggy Stardust in 1972 through to The Lodger in 1979, but there are also additional photographs from the set of Nick Roeg's film 'The Man Who Fell To Earth', and portraits of David's first wife, Angie Bowie and Pierre LaRoche (Aladdin Sane Make-Up Artist) plus some never before seen, behind the scenes photographs.

Tom Stoddarts’ ‘Perspectives’

In the eighties he worked extensively for the Sunday Times newspaper. Stoddart has witnessed many international events including the Romanian Revolution and the massing of alliance troops in the Middle East for the Desert Storm conflict with Iraq. He has subsequently spent time with British Royal Marines on more recent operations in Iraq.

In 1997 Tony Blair gave Tom Stoddart exclusive access for three months to document his

election campaign as Labour swept to victory after 18 years of Conservative government. He was later give access to Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and David Cameron.

Now established as one of the world's most respected photojournalists, Tom Stoddart is represented by, and works closely with Getty Images, to produce campaigning photographic projects on the serious world issues of our time.
