The WCLA has launched a refreshed professional development offering for Semester 2 to bring you a range of workshops tailored to the most relevant and immediate challenges facing our academics in the Faculty. These workshops are targeted to academics wishing to refresh their skills and knowledge to better engage with students in the classroom and assess students more expediently. Parcipants will consider how their current teaching might be adopted for BSL delivery. Strategies for Teaching in a Blended Synchronous Format BLENDED: OCTOBER 12, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM FACILITATED BY ANGELA PALADINO & MIRIAM EDWARDS Subject guides outline subject expectations for both students and staff. Participants in this workshop will be introduced to a new subject guide tool and consider this from the perspective of their own teaching. This is targeted to those who will pilot the tool. Subject Guide Online Plaorm Training Module BLENDED: JULY 22, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM FACILITATED BY VALERIE COTRONEI-BAIRD The aim of this workshop is to explore experienal and construcve teaching strategies that can improve student engagement in almost any type of classroom, from tradional lectures to online and blended synchronous classes in FBE. Increasing Student Engagement Through Your Teaching BLENDED: AUGUST 5, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM FACILITATED BY VALERIE COTRONEI-BAIRD This workshop provides an opportunity to work through the steps for designing assessment that give students the opportunity to demonstrate what they know and can do in your subject in almost any type of classroom. Assessment and Rubric Design BLENDED: SEPTEMBER 9, 14:00 PM - 3:30 PM FACILITATED BY ANGELA PALADINO This workshop will allow parcipants to be aware of how to prepare for effecve case-based teaching. Parcipants will review strategies that lead to classroom debate and be able to smulate and track engagement in the classroom. Business Case Teaching BLENDED: JULY 26, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM FACILITATED BY ANGELITO CALMA This workshop offers ideas to reconsider and refresh lecture design when teaching online. Participants will be introduced to strategies to encourage deeper interactions with content, promote active learning, produce rich and high-value content and reducing cognitive load.
