I. Notes on Safety
Please read the instructions thoroughly before installing or operating the unit.
Please do not mount the machine on an unstable surface or bracket.
Please prevent all liquids or other material from entering the dome housing.
When connecting the power source, please follow all electric safety standards and
only use the power supply designated for this device. The speed dome’s RS-485
and video signal uses TVS technology to protect it from strong electrical surges.
This technology prevents damage to the device resulting from impulse signals
such as lightning strikes or surges of power. Allow for enough distance between
the RS-485 and video signals and high-voltage equipment or cables during the
transmission process. Please do not power the unit until all connections are
secure and installation is complete.
Avoid shooting very bright objects directly into the camera’s CCD (such as the sun
or light fittings).
When the machine is not operating properly, please refer to the instructions for
information about how to service or repair your speed dome.
Please protect the unit against extremes of vibration, pressure or dampness while
transporting unit. Damage can occur from improperly packaging the unit while
shipping.

VI. User’s Operation
The Speed Domes have been implemented and compatible to PELCO (D/P type) protocol that works with all devices such as DVR, Video Servers, PC, and keyboards that compatible to the same protocol for system integration and operation handy.
1. Locate a Speed Dome in a system
Set ID address of a speed dome:
The ID address of each Speed Dome has to be unique and only one in a system; it can be set by the on-board dip-switch that fore-mentioned on page 6. When the ID address set properly, by external controller and keyboard, the Speed dome will be operated and controlled. The speed domes can be programmed up to 128 of ID address. However, subjected to different control device and keyboard, the maximum number of speed dome in a system will be various. For example, if controlled by MCU-PTZ091, there are maximum 99 units of speed domes in a system at direct connection mode.
To call a speed dome:
If the protocol and ID address of a speed dome has been properly setup, the keyboard will be able to call and operate the speed dome. For say, if a speed dome set ID as #1 and controlled by MCU-PTZ091 keyboard, you can press “1” and “CAM” on the controller’s keypad, you will then configure to the speed dome by the keyboard and control/operate the speed dome (at ID #1). The users can do the same for other configured speed domes in the system by calling their proper ID number.
2. PTZ Operation & Control
PAN (360˚) movement The speed dome can move continuous 360 with controls. The speed dome features
64-step speed to correspond with the operation at the joystick—when user move the
joystick fast, the speed dome will move fast; and, vise versa. TILT (90˚) movement
With keyboard, the Speed dome can perform vertical movement (from 90 to 0 ) at
various speed, including Auto-flip function. Auto Flipping
When tilt down at 90 position, the speed dome will automatically flip over to track or
follow a moving object beneath and passing by.
Focusing With auto-focus feature, it will focus on the center of the view window automatically to ensure the image stays clear and sharp. Focus can also be adjusted manually to
suit users’ preferences.
Installation / User’s Guide 31
Note: When the followings occur, the speed dome may not be able to focus properly: When the object is not at the camera's viewing center;
With complicated front and background, the good focusing can not be ensured for all. The taken object is too bright—if it is lit by the laminator such as spotlight, neon-lamb, etc. Fast-moving object Objects stay behind glasses with water-drops or covered by a layer of dust A big plain object and dull in color or background—such as a plain wall
Objects stay in the dark or dim environments that can't be seen clearly.
Zoom In/Out
The motorized lens to Zoom-in and Zoom-out can be controlled by controller. There are normally two different zoom functions available in the built-in Zoom camera module-- Optical Zoom, and Digital Zoom. But the performance and the zooming rate are various and subjected to the core zoom module.
Micro movement at Zoom In When Speed Dome performs Zoom-In, the PAN/TILT movements will automatically tune in micro-step to make sure the close-up track on the object, and to avoid the not out of range or loss track problem.
IRIS control The factory default is set to be auto-IRIS. IRIS will be adjusted subject to the light change for optimum brightness on video. Users can adjust the IRIS to open or to close or other adjustments for suitable brightness.
3. PRESET Function
With the PRESET feature, it memorizes a position, including its PAN/TILT angle, Zoom & Focus. PRESET positions can be called by controller so that the object can be located quickly and handy. With MCU-PTZ091 control keyboard, each Speed Dome can set to maximum 128 PRESET positions.
‧ Note: some of the 128 PRESETs are defined as special functions, please refer to the “Special Function Table” (at the end of the manual) Call a PRESET position
Press the numeric key and the PRESET function key on the controller, And then this preset will be called and performing the memorized position.
EX: 1 + preset The preset #1 will be called to perform.
Save a PRESET position
Use the controller to operate the Speed Dome at the wanted position (including viewing angle and size of image). And, enter a number with the numeric keypad, then press the ADD function key to confirm and save. Thereafter, you can use the call-preset procedure as mentioned above to test the added preset point.
