I. Notes on Safety

Please read the instructions thoroughly before installing or operating the unit.

Please do not mount the machine on an unstable surface or bracket.

Please prevent all liquids or other material from entering the dome housing.

When connecting the power source, please follow all electric safety standards and

only use the power supply designated for this device. The speed dome’s RS-485

and video signal uses TVS technology to protect it from strong electrical surges.

This technology prevents damage to the device resulting from impulse signals

such as lightning strikes or surges of power. Allow for enough distance between

the RS-485 and video signals and high-voltage equipment or cables during the

transmission process. Please do not power the unit until all connections are

secure and installation is complete.

Avoid shooting very bright objects directly into the camera’s CCD (such as the sun

or light fittings).

When the machine is not operating properly, please refer to the instructions for

information about how to service or repair your speed dome.

Please protect the unit against extremes of vibration, pressure or dampness while

transporting unit. Damage can occur from improperly packaging the unit while

shipping.

The outdoor dome camera system is designed to be installed in outdoor

environments only.

2. Speed Dome Camera Address Setting The address code (Cam ID) for the speed dome must to be properly set before use to

ensure accurate addressing of the domes for control at center. The address code is made up

of SW201 (8-bits) dip switch on PCB board. The 8-bit switch uses the 8421 binary coded

decimal system; the largest value is 256. “1” means ON status and “0” means OFF status.

Each dome address code (Cam ID) that display at keyboard or control devices is response

to the settings shoeing in the chart below: (see the following figure and the address/digits in

following chart)

Note

1. When all switches at “OFF” the address code of speed dome is 1.

2. When you input 1 + Cam at control keyboard (MCU-PTZ091), the keyboard

(MCU-PTZ091) should communicate with the speed dome to control.

3. Other addresses , please refer to the table above for settling reference.

4. Please note the Cam ID address for PELCO-D and PELCO-P protocol modes are

different. Please check the system protocol type before making the Camera ID setting.

7. RS-485 Bus Matching Resistance

For better centralized control, a matching resistance should be set in parallel via RS-485

interface at the speed dome that is farthest from the center controller. By doing this, those

signal reflection and interference from the RS-485 signal and the like can be cleared up.

There is a switcher for controlling of the matching resistance at the end of SW202 on the

PCB board. And the matching resistance is connected to the RS-485 cable when the “No. 8”

switcher is set to “ON” status.

Note

When dome is out of control or doesn’t work under RS-485 BUS control status,

please set switch of matching resistance as ON status; so that it can clear up bad

phenomenon.

If dome address, baud rate and communication protocol is required to be reset after

finish installation, please ensure dome is at power off status.

VI. User’s Operation

The Speed Domes have been implemented and compatible to PELCO (D/P type) protocol that works with all devices such as DVR, Video Servers, PC, and keyboards that compatible to the same protocol for system integration and operation handy.

1. Locate a Speed Dome in a system

Set ID address of a speed dome:

The ID address of each Speed Dome has to be unique and only one in a system; it can be set by the on-board dip-switch that fore-mentioned on page 6. When the ID address set properly, by external controller and keyboard, the Speed dome will be operated and controlled. The speed domes can be programmed up to 128 of ID address. However, subjected to different control device and keyboard, the maximum number of speed dome in a system will be various. For example, if controlled by MCU-PTZ091, there are maximum 99 units of speed domes in a system at direct connection mode.

To call a speed dome:

If the protocol and ID address of a speed dome has been properly setup, the keyboard will be able to call and operate the speed dome. For say, if a speed dome set ID as #1 and controlled by MCU-PTZ091 keyboard, you can press “1” and “CAM” on the controller’s keypad, you will then configure to the speed dome by the keyboard and control/operate the speed dome (at ID #1). The users can do the same for other configured speed domes in the system by calling their proper ID number.

2. PTZ Operation & Control

PAN (360˚) movement The speed dome can move continuous 360 with controls. The speed dome features

64-step speed to correspond with the operation at the joystick—when user move the

joystick fast, the speed dome will move fast; and, vise versa. TILT (90˚) movement

With keyboard, the Speed dome can perform vertical movement (from 90 to 0 ) at

various speed, including Auto-flip function. Auto Flipping

When tilt down at 90 position, the speed dome will automatically flip over to track or

follow a moving object beneath and passing by.

Focusing With auto-focus feature, it will focus on the center of the view window automatically to ensure the image stays clear and sharp. Focus can also be adjusted manually to

suit users’ preferences.

Page 32: WD Speed Dome - Vitronic · dome to rotate smoothly, respond sensitively and aim precisely. The speed dome camera has a memory function; when the power is back after blackout, it

Installation / User’s Guide 31

Note: When the followings occur, the speed dome may not be able to focus properly: When the object is not at the camera's viewing center;

With complicated front and background, the good focusing can not be ensured for all. The taken object is too bright—if it is lit by the laminator such as spotlight, neon-lamb, etc. Fast-moving object Objects stay behind glasses with water-drops or covered by a layer of dust A big plain object and dull in color or background—such as a plain wall
