Round Up Sunday will be October 1, this will kick off our annual Round Up time. 10 am We are gonna read the instruction Manuel and let it lead us in the directions of going out and bringing in all the strays, then we will gather around the worship corral for a time preparing. Don’t forget to wear those western duds and polish them thar boots. Get yourselves out early. Well folks Uncle Herman done killed the fatted calf so we can barbeque, it be now on, a month or more he dug a Hugh pit and buried that calf, plus he also killed a small hog and I’m’ sure they done about cooked it to lip lickin good. Little Bobby Ray who got a red rider BB gun for his birthday, done gone and thinned out Grandma Maude’s chicken flock in one afternoon. She tanned his hide. But now we can also have lots of chicken tenders as well. We invited all you kin folks for the chuck wagon barbeque that day, and weuns want you to bring the sides. So we will have lots of that good home cookin. Aunt Lulu Belle, came to the church two weeks earlier (she gets everything all mixed up). Brought her famous Mac and Cheese so we have enough to feed all the ranch hands. I told her she came way too early she just about died laughing. She said the longer it cured the better it would be. Then she got in her car floor boarded it and threw gravel everywhere and did a wheelie and you could hear her laughing all the out of the parking lot. Well I near did lose my religion. That old lady drives like a crazy person. They closed Uncle Dews still on Dover Rd. said he was breaking the law, he said he was making the church some wine for the Lord’s Supper, but they knew better. Well he had all that equipment so now he makes soda pop, Aunt Hilda May, will make her famous Church tea, that so sweet, you will have to take a nap. You just let the good Lord, lead you to fix that favorite recipe. Bean, tater salad and things like that or try your bakin skills, you know all those cow pokes have sweet tooths. Start now rounding up all those strays. Go up and down Dover Road and all over Shelby County, not only Sunday but all month, bring you family, friends ifin you have any. Bring your neighbors and anyone you meet on that dusty trail. Yea Doggies it a big time at Dover Baptist, ifn you stay home we will have to come get you, hog tie you and bring you to church, we aint messin around. See you Sunday October 1, 10 am and ifn you see Aunt Lulu Belle give her a ride, we don’t want anyone to get caught in her stampede. See all month for Round Up. Bring your prize winning Chili or favorite soup and fantastic desserts. Hot dogs will be furnished and we will plan to have a Bon fire and make S’mores. We need cakes for the cake walk. There will be Hay rides, Trunk or Treat (Please no scary costumes) Prize given for the best decorated trunk. Lots of games for all ages. Plenty of Hot Chocolate. Help us spread the word everywhere you go. This will be a night to remember as we celebrate Halloween and our bounteous blessings. In case of rain everything will be moved inside our Family Life Center. NOVEMBER 5 - TIME CHANGE SUNDAY - TURN BACK THOSE CLOCKS DOVER CHURCH FAMILIES THANKSGIVING DIER Meat and drink furnished. This is a fantastic time to reach out to our neighbors, friends and families. Bring many guest and extra food. Also beginning in October start bringing food and or money for our Thanksgiving baskets to bless families in need, it is an exciting opportunity. We also need items for our Christmas baskets as well. This is a wonderful opportunity, for families to do this together as a family project. PACK SHOE BOXES ---NOVEMBER 5 On Sunday night November 5, we will pack shoe boxes and make Christmas better for the less fortunate, join us at 5pm and bring lots of finger foods. CAROLS AND CANDLES --- DECEMBER 17 December 17, 7pm, we will have our Carols and Candles which is now a Christmas tradition at our church and will be a worship celebration that you and your family will never forget. Join with us as we celebrate the Reason for the Season. Take time from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season and put Christ in His rightful place. This will be a worship reflection of why Christ was born and to stop and kneel at the manger. This will be a wonderful time for all of us to come together and worship in the quietness of Candlelight.
