Pittsburgh Chapter’s Thanksgiving Food Drive - November 2014

The Pittsburgh Chapter partnered with the Community Food Bank to provide 360

Thanksgiving dinner boxes this Fall. Each box was hand decorated and filled with all the fix-ings for a wonderful dinner including potatoes, sweet potatoes, vegetables, gravy, cranberrysauce, stuffing, dessert and a gift card to purchase turkey. With the help of Business Part-ners, all of the boxes were picked up and transported on November 3rd. Jan Isler donned aturkey costume, generating interest from passers-by, many of whom were inspired to makea monetary donation, including $5990 in gift cards and $859 in cash. Rochester Chapter Community Challenge – November 2014

The Rochester Chapter gave very generously during their Community Challenge. Members of the board

put together 75 personal care bags that contained shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes,shaving cream and razors for Richard’s House, an organization that assists homeless veterans. Additionally,we were able to donate a few months’ supply of many of these products to the center. Lacy Katzen orga-nized the collection of professional clothing and winter coats, which were also donated. They were able tomake one veteran, who works in the kitchen, very happy by providing him with a coat that fit him in a stylehe was looking for! Long Island Chapter - November 2014 Speed Networking Event

The Long Island Chapter Speed Networking event was held at the beautiful Rare650 in

Syosset, and was a rousing success. With over 60 members and Business Partners in at-tendance, everyone involved had a great time and made important connections. This yearthe raffle raised $850.00 to benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. TheChapter thanks its Business Partners for contributing a fantastic selection of gifts and allof its members who attended to help make the chapter and our association successful.Submitted by Barbara Tomitz, Long Island Chapter President

Independence Chapter Holiday Dinner – December 2014

Boston Chapter 40th Anniversary Dinner – December 2014

Founded in 1974, only three years after ALA itself, the Boston Chapter

marked its 40th Anniversary in 2014! To celebrate this milestone theChapter hosted a special Member/Business Partner cocktail & dinner partyon the terrace of the New England Aquarium. As guests connected withold friends and met new, they were entertained by a jazz trio, strollsthrough the aquarium, and a fun game of matching 1974 photos with cur-rent Chapter Members and Business Partners. Downeast Chapter Annual Retreat – September 2014

On September 19, 2014, the Downeast Chapter held its annual education-

al retreat at the Portland Yacht Club in Falmouth, Maine. It was a day filledwith learning, sharing, and fun, complete with sunny skies and a stunningview of coastal Maine. The Board held a session on benefits and the impactof the Affordable Care Act, followed by an ALA regional update and “CashCab” session led by Kevin Costello, Region 1 Representative, and ChrisO’Sullivan from the Boston Chapter. Quebec Chapter Community Challenge – November 2014

The Quebec Chapter’s Community Challenge event raised $27,103 for the

Fondation Autisme Quebec. Montreal law firms hold different activitiesthroughout the year to raise money for this event. ALA Members and Que-bec business partners were invited for a dinner and a silent auction where aninitial amount of $25,000 was presented to the Fondation Autisme Que-bec. Philadelphia Chapter Holiday Luncheon December - 2014

On December 5, 2014 we enjoyed a wonderful lunch with our Business Partners

and at Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse. In the spirit of giving and community well-being, all contributed a donation such as toys, clothing, and gift cards for The SupportCenter of Child Advocates.
