WE ARE EXPECTING
YOU50th ANNIVERSARY REUNIONSEPT. 29—OCT. 1. 197S
TO: Members of the 1928 Hickman High graduating class.
This is to advise you of the reunion plans and developmentssince our May 15 letter.
1. 23 of us attended the June 1 awards assembly as the guestsof the 1978 graduating class. We were royally treated.
2. Miss Nelle Kitchens received sufficient money and a 50 yearanniversary seal was placed on each 1978 diploma. Our classhas been graciously thanked for our efforts.
3. Plans are proceeding rapidly for the reunion scheduled, asyou know, for September 29 thru October 1.
Here are a few things related to the reunion we believe you'lllike: - Slater Christian, Kitty McCasky Balsamo, John King, PeggyProctor Mulligan and others on the reception committee are eager togreet you in the hospitality room. Imogene Hill Woods and Bush Waldenare heading up the "other activities" committee including such thingsas attending the homecomming football game at Hickman on September 29.Banquet committee leader Laura Woods Martin has more than a half dozenpersons in the planning stages such as: Etta May Graves Benedict,Imogene Woods and Evelyn Estes on decorations, Edgar and MargaretNoarvell Drane on seating arrangements, Loren Reynolds, Adalene Hokeand Fowler Young on menu, Kitty McCasky Balsamo, Alex Estes, Etta GraceStewart Singleton and Fowler Young planning the program, working up theagenda, etc and of course money bags Alex (treas.) will pay the bills.
All details connected with the banquet are not complete but youwill like Wallace Walter as the M.C.. Bet he can still sing, debateand play a leading role in most worthwhile activities. You v/ill likethe guest speaker too. Remember the 1927 class president Jack Taylor? He is now Mayor of "Whoopup". He recalls much history that relatesto members of the 1928 class and you can count on much of it beingrevealed. This of course will be in addition to the concerns of thepeople* in the village the mayor runs.
More than fifty have already sent their registration fee forreservations. Many others have written nice letters expressing theirdesires to be here. Some have not written at all and that makes usfeel kinda sad. We have much more to do before reunion time AND WEARE DEPENDING ON YOU FOR HELP. Everyone receiving this letter canhelp. To make it easy for you we are enclosing QUESTIONNAIRE NO. 2.Won't you please fill it in and return it TODAY.
Respectfully submitted by persons whose names appear above.
