We are so happy you have joined us for our Virtual VBS Month! We may not be able to gather on
campus for VBS this year, but Calvary Kids is brining Virtual VBS to your home for the month of June! Look up – way up. That's where we're headed. Where I-beams float effortlessly high overhead, carefully guided
into place by powerful machinery. Where steel and glass converge in a colossal design that appears to almost
touch the sky. These magnificent structures were elaborately designed and intricately built. Yet they all began
the same way – with concrete and cranes, rivets and rebar, bulldozers and backhoes; and most importantly, a
solid foundation. This month, Calvary Kids will don their hard hats and head out to the construction site to
discover that skyscrapers aren't the only things that need a rock solid foundation.
During VBS, kids will discover that Jesus' love provides a foundation that will last. When the storms of life
come, they'll need the One who will be with them to the end of the age. When anxiety sets in, they'll need the
assurance that true worth comes from being a child of God, not from what other people think about them. When
they feel unworthy, they can remember that Jesus loved them enough to die for them. They'll learn to be wise
builders who continue in what they've learned and firmly believe. And they will discover that He who began a
good work will be faithful to carry it on to completion. We're all a work in progress.
Life is a hard hat zone. But just wait until you see what God will do!

Jesus Made a Promise (Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20) After Jesus died, He was placed in a tomb and a stone was rolled in front to seal it.
Two of Jesus’ friends (both named Mary) came to see the tomb. There was an earthquake, and an angel came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. The angel said that Jesus was alive and was going to Galilee to see His disciples. The women were happy and hurried to tell the disciples. When the disciples heard the news, they went to Galilee. There, they saw Jesus and worshipped Him. Jesus told the men, “Go and tell everyone about me. Teach people to do everything I have told you.” Jesus told the men to remember, “I am with you always.”

Jesus Made a Promise

Jesus was arrested for crimes He did not commit, beaten, and nailed to a cross where He died for the sins of all people. His body was placed in a tomb. A large stone was placed over the opening of the tomb. Guards stood by the tomb so no one could get in. The followers of Jesus believed their hope was gone.
Early on Sunday morning Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James walked to the tomb. There had been a violent earthquake and an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven. The angel rolled back the stone that had been placed in front of the tomb and sat on it. The angel had the appearance of lightning and his clothes were as white as snow. The guards who had been placed in front of the tomb to guard Jesus’ body were so frightened that they fainted and fell to the ground.
When the women saw the angel they were frightened, but the angel reminded them that Jesus had risen just as He had told them He would. The angel invited the women to come see where Jesus had been and then told them to go and tell Jesus’ disciples what they had seen.
Jesus met the women on the way and said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my disciples to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”
The women ran to tell the disciples the great news—Jesus is alive! They told the disciples to go to Galilee, where Jesus would meet them. The eleven disciples traveled to the mountain in Galilee where Jesus had directed them to go.
When the disciples saw Jesus, they worshiped Him. Jesus said to the men, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is the GREAT COMMISSION. Then Jesus made an amazing promise – He promised to be with them always!
Boys and girls, the Resurrection and the Great Commission are a huge part of the Gospel, which is the good news about
Jesus! If you have never heard the Gospel before or put your faith in Jesus, listen closely, because I am about to share
the Gospel through the 3 Circles and the ABC’s of Salvation with you know. If you have already accepted Jesus as your
savior, this is still for you too because this will help you remember the Gospel and how to share it with others.
Let’s take a look!
Gospel of Jesus Christ – 3 Circles Tool
(Draw top right circle and put squiggly line in the middle): We live in a broken world. When you look around you see brokenness everywhere (death, disease, suffering, etc.) but you also see traces of beauty (colors of a sunset, nature, etc.) (Draw top left circle and put a heart in the middle): That is because God’s design was perfect when he made it. There was no death, disease, or suffering. But starting with the very first people, Adam and Eve, we chose to go our own way and leave God’s perfect design, and we separated ourselves from Him. That’s called sin. (Draw curved arrow from left circle to right circle, and above it, draw
a person with three “movement” lines behind them). Sin led to brokenness in us and in the world. We don’t like the feeling of brokenness, so we try to get out on our own. (Draw a squiggly arrow coming out of the top right circle to the right): Some try to get out by climbing the ladder of success at work or school. (Draw another squiggly arrow): Some try to get out by doing good things, being religious, going to church, or helping people, and while those are great things they don’t get us out of brokenness. (Draw another squiggly arrow): Some try to drown out the brokenness by self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. These attempts to get us out of brokenness just keep pulling us back into it. But God loved us so much, He didn’t want us to stay in brokenness, so He did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. (Draw curved arrow down towards the center and then draw a circle centered below the two circles above): He provided the only way out of brokenness, and that is through His son Jesus (write JESUS in the top half of the circle). Jesus came down from Heaven into our world and lived a perfect life (draw a down arrow on the bottom right half of the circle), died on a cross for OUR SINS (draw a cross on the left side of the down arrow), and rose from the dead and went back to heaven (draw an
upward arrow on the left side of the cross). Jesus said that if anyone would admit that they are a sinner and turn away from their own sinful ways (draw a kneeling
person on the outside of the curved down arrow between the circles), believe that he came from heaven, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, and would be willing to make him the Lord of their life and confess their faith in Him (draw a crown
on top of the bottom circle), they would be forgiven and made new. (Draw a curved arrow from the bottom circle up toward the
top left circle. On the outside of the arrow, draw a person with lines coming out from around them in a circle). Jesus changes our heart, begins to heal our brokenness, and helps us start to pursue God’s design for our life, where we receive His blessings. But it doesn’t end there! Jesus then sends us right back out into the broken world to confess our faith in Him and to share the Gospel with everyone so that they may come to know Jesus as their Savior! Boys and girls, you have now heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the 3 Circles tool, and you too can make the decision to follow Jesus when you are ready! One way to remember how to respond to the Gospel are the ABC’s of Salvation, which I mentioned a few minutes ago. Here they are:
A: ADMIT that you are a sinner and repent. Repent means to turn around or to change direction. We turn away from our sin and turn towards God.
B: BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God and receive His gift of forgiveness from sin. C: CONFESS your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
If you decide that today is the day you want to put your faith in Jesus and follow Him, please talk to an adult about your decision and how you can do that. Choosing to put your faith in Jesus is very important, personal decision between you and God. Parents, please reach out to us at Calvary if you have any questions, if we can help with anything, or just to share the great news with us – we can’t wait to hear about it and share in the excitement with you!
Week 3- Foundation of Promise Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20 Each week during our VBS Worship Rally we will play a game that your family can play along with us. Here are the instructions and supplies needed for this week’s game. You can also watch how to play the game at the beginning of each week’s game video.
Week 3 Worship Rally Game: BUILDERS & BULLDOZERS
For this game, gather 10-15 cones, water bottles, or any objects in your house that can easily be distinguished as being stood upright or knocked over
Place the objects in an area, scattered around both upright and knocked over
Designate players to be BUILDERS and BULLDOZERS. This game could be played in a group or simply 1 on 1 – 1 builder to 1 bulldozer
At the same time, BUILDERS will stand up as many of the objects to their upright position as possible while BULLDOZERS will knock down as many of the objects as possible
After 60 seconds, count and see how many objects are upright and how many are knocked over. The most objects standing or knocked over determines if the winners are the BUILDERS or the BULLDOZERS Each week includes family discussion questions, crafts, activities, music, missions challenge, and games for your family to do throughout the week. These items are available in your VBS Packet or at Calvary.us/VBS. Share all the fun you are having during VBS using #CalvaryVBS or at Calvary.us/VBS Week 3 Activities 4yr, 5yr, K Activities

VBS Week 3 Discussion Questions
Hey families! After you watch the week one VBS video from the Calvary Kids website, use these
discussion questions to drill deeper into the foundation and cement all that you are learning!
There are two different sets of questions: some for our preschool and kindergarten construction
workers, and others for our older construction workers. More experienced construction workers
(middle school students, parents, grandparents, whoever!) are also welcomed to share their
answers to these questions. Everyone has something important to contribute on this
construction site!
Week 3 Discussion Questions, Preschool-Kindergarten:
1. In Jackhammer Music, we learned the big word “confess.” Can you remember what this
word means? What does it mean to confess that Jesus is Savior and Lord? Is this
something that you have done before?
2. Do you have a best friend, or a brother, or a sister? If you and your friend are sometimes
not able to be together, does that make you feel sad or lonely? Talk about reasons why
having a friend with you is a great thing!
3. What does it mean to make a promise? Have you ever made a promise to someone?
Have you ever broken a promise? Jesus has promised to always be with us, and we can
trust that He will never break His promise! Pray and thank Jesus that we can trust Him!
Week 3 Discussion Questions, 1st-5th Grade:
1. It is time to review Philippians 1:6! Before looking the verse up in your Bible, try to write it
out from memory. Then, look the verse up and see how close you were! If you missed
some of the words, copy the verse correctly to solidify your learning.
2. In Blueprint Bible Study, we learned the 3-circles tool! Can you remember what the three
circles were? Practice drawing the circles and explaining to your family members what
they mean and be sure to help each other remember all the important pieces!
3. What do you think it means that the promises of God can be our foundation? How do we
know that God is trustworthy, and His promises are true?
Missions Challenge:
This week we learned that missionaries TEACH THE BIBLE! Use the Sword Method to teach a
passage of the Bible with your kids. Have your kids teach you a passage using this method. ..
