Mandy Bujold began her career as an amateur boxer in 2006 whenshe claimed the Canadian National Championship and Athlete ofthe Year titles in the 51kg (flyweight) division. Since that time, shehas made her way as a Flyweight Champion and amassed animpressive collection of titles and historical events for her sport.

In 2011, Mandy competed at the Pan-American Games, wherewomen’s boxing was introduced for the first time. Winning the firstmedal, she won gold and claimed her title as the Pan-AmericanChampion. In 2015 Mandy successfully defended her title, makinghistory as the only 2-time Pan-American Games Champion inWomen’s boxing history. The 2015 Pan-American Games broughther world ranking to #2 and were a major steppingstone for her“Road to Rio” where she hopes to fight for GOLD at the OlympicGames in 2016.

Mandy Bujold, an ambassador for the Pan-American Games 2015 aswell as an Olympic Games 2016 hopeful, says that when she startedboxing, it was so challenging that it motivated her to keep pushing tosee what she could achieve

Her training is about 6-8hrs a day, 6 days a week. “We have a littledowntime in December but otherwise our training is prettyconsistent. The only thing that changes is the focus on who ourcompetitors are. You still have to put all the time and work in nomatter what event you’re training for.”

Bujold recognizes the value of a great team and states, “I have thebest team in the world. My coach Adrian Teodorescu is a worldrenowned trainer who has brought many boxers to win world and/orOlympic titles,”.On religion, she says, “I’ve got my faith with me no matter what I do,and it helps me to stay positive. When I’m at events, I have littleritual things I do. I always bring my Bible. When I’m preparing andtrying to focus I use prayer to help me relax and help me be who Iam. you have to have faith that you’re giving 100% and it’s for Hisglory and not for yours.”

Getting into the Sport:Started boxing at age 16…”My older brother did a bit ofboxing before me and that drew me to it as well. When I firststarted I was not athletic at all, but because it was sochallenging it motivated me to keep pushing..”

Outside Interests:She is a fully certified Level 2 NCCP coach, teaching classes ather local gym and serving as an Athletes Representative ontheir board. She is an in-demand speaker at youth andcommunity events and is currently a student at the Universityof Waterloo.

Bilingual: Speaks fluent French.Charity Work:Mandy has continuous involvement with manylocal charities including the RonaldMcDonald House Toronto.
