The Space Shuttle aircraft was used for transporting humans to space for over 30 years. The era began in 1981 and ended in 2011.

The Space Shuttle Era

In the space shuttle era, there were 5 aircrafts. (Atlantis, Discovery, Columbia, Challenger, and Endeavor)

There were over 135 missions to space on space shuttles over the 30 year era.

The shuttles sent to space were used to help construct the International Space Station (ISS)

What you are to do:

oYou are to research the two space shuttles that exploded (Challenger and Columbia) and figure out what happened to make them explode.

oIn your findings, you should also research and learn what was done in result to these aircrafts blowing up.

1. First, you will partner with two other students, and together you will all complete the research for this webquest.

2. You will conduct your research online through the NASA website, as well as any other reliable website you may find.

3. Once you have all gathered research, you will then write a 2 page review paper as a group, discussing your research.

4. Once you have written your review paper, you will then prepare to give an oral presentation of your findings.
