Welcome to another issue of Nozzom, where we share with you what has been happening with Giza Systems. It has been an eventful period for the company, and the country as a whole, where we have witnessed a number of major developments. Though Egypt’s economy has faced a rocky period, albeit an expected one, it is anticipated that the economy recovers and strengthens with the shaping of a new future. Giza Systems Relocates to New Cairo

Giza Systems, the leading systems integrator in Egypt and the Middle

East, has relocated its corporate headquarters to the Fifth Settlement

in New Cairo. The new facility, located in Plot No. 176, Second

Sector, City Center, now accommodates the company’s current staff

– previously distributed over two buildings – and enables further

expansion for the company’s future growth.

“As we continue to tap into new markets and expand, we needed to

find the right location for our evolving business. It made sense for

our company to select New Cairo for the location of our new office,”

said Hazem Maharem, Vice President of Finance & Administration and

Member of the Board. “With this strategic location, and a business

district that hosts some of the region’s major players in different

fields and industries, Giza Systems now neighbors prestigious firms,

in an environmentally designed building geared towards efficiency

optimization,” he elaborated.

The new seven-floor building covers a total area of 3,556 square meters

and is expected to house over 600 employees. Construction of the

new building started in January 2009, executed by the construction

company DETAC and the architectural firm MAC Consultants. Both

companies were contracted due to their expertise and competitive

bidding. The total estimated cost of the building is EGP 70 million.

environment conducive to better communication and sharing

among employees. Open space enhances problem solving through

open communication and encourages brainstorming. It improves

productivity, allows for knowledge transfer, and strengthens ties

between the members of the company’s community.

“Moving to a new kind of office dynamic has definitely made it much

easier and more effective to communicate with my colleagues. It

has also allowed me to interact with more people from the various

departments at Giza Systems,” commented Mohamed Zaki, HR

Compensation & Benefits Specialist. “Moreover, the meeting room

facilities available to all employees have effectively combined the

benefits of both open and private space,” he added.

Relying on its expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS),

the company has equipped its own headquarters with cutting-edge

and energy efficient solutions to ensure safety, security, monitoring,

control, and efficiency throughout the building.

“Incorporating BMS in the initial design phase of a building increases

efficiencies in terms of cost and time saving activities for the

establishment. After the operation start-up, systems are integrated

vertically and horizontally to generate data and share it across the

multiple systems,” commented Sherif Omran, Enterprise General

Manager.

The concept behind BMS is not only to benefit from automation and

control, but to obtain data that is shared amongst the different systems

to ensure both efficient use of resources, safety and the security of its

occupants.

“The smart building, essentially, represents a complex integrated

adaptive system that generates data, issues alerts, and responds in

an integrative manner to any changes,” elaborated Mostafa Ashour,

BMS Technical Team Leader.

Capitalizing on its diverse BMS solutions portfolio, Giza Systems’

headquarters is managed through a network of systems, fully

integrated for optimum efficiency. The building management systems

range from electrical systems that include distribution panels, a bus

coupler, transformers and a generator, to emergency systems and fire

fighting systems, as well as security and access systems.

By integrating all these systems, BMS establishes means of

communication amongst the different systems in place such as

heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting management, fire

safety, security and access control, and other systems.

BMS provides alarms for situations like AHU dirt filters, AHU smoke

detection, fan belt breaks, electrical trips, high pipe pressure, high

temperature in any given area, security breaches, etc.

In the case of a fire, for example, the incident would automatically

trigger the fire alarm to communicate with the HVAC system, and

the security and access systems. Detecting a fire or fire threat, the

system would regulate the airflow, water, and pressure in order

to prevent smoke from concentrating or fire from spreading. In

addition, the system would communicate the necessary precautions

to access control points, such as elevators, doors, and parking. In

such situations, BMS generates something similar to an action item

checklist that is used to ensure safety and security.

BMS also performs all the programmed sequences needed in cases

of predefined situations. BMS is capable of starting and stopping

any process, whether manually or based on a predefined schedule.

Moreover, due to the integration and interconnectedness of the

systems, it is possible to generate graphs to monitor simultaneous

factors online, and create trend logs for every value of the system.

The benefits of BMS are essential for operational efficiency and

resource management. The convergence of automated solutions to

smart buildings is extending to the energy and utilities sectors for

efficient energy management and resource utilization. This is only the

beginning of Giza Systems’ leverage to use emerging technologies for

a sustainable future.

القطعة الذي يقع يف الجديد، املبنى الجديدة. بالقاهرة الخامس التجمع الرئييس إىل مقرها

رقم ١٧٦ بالقطاع الثاين، وسط املدينة بالقاهرة الجديدة يستوعب اآلن جميع موظفي الرشكة

والذين كانوا موزعني عىل مبنيني. وكام يسمح باستيعاب املزيد من التوسعات املستقبلية ىف

الرشكة.

ويقول األستاذ حازم محارم عضو مجلس اإلدارة ونائب رئيس للشؤون اإلدارية واملالية »شعرنا

بالحاجة إليجاد املوقع املناسب ألعاملنا املتزايدة خصوصا ونحن ندخل أسواقا جديدة ونتوسع

القاهرة الجديدة للمقر الجديد«. بالنسبة لرشكتنا إختيار ىف أنشطتنا. فقد كان من املنطقي

الذي يستضيف عدد من التجاري الحي اإلسرتاتيجي ىف املوقع »أنه خالل هذا قائال وأردف

أهم وأكرب الرشكات املؤثرة ىف مختلف املجاالت والصناعات، تستمتع جيزة سيستمز مبميزات التواجد بالقرب من تلك الرشكات ، يف بيئة مصممة لتعظيم العملية اإلنتاجية ككل.«

ويتكون املبنى الجديد من سبعة طوابق ويغطي مساحة إجاملية قدرها ٣٥٥٦ مرت مربع، ومن

DETAC املتوقع أن يضم أكرث من ٦٠٠ موظف. وقد بدأ تشييده ىف يناير ٢٠٠٩، بتنفيذ رشكة

التعاقد مع الرشكتني عىل حد سواء من الهندسية. وقد تم MAC لإلستشارات للبناء ورشكة

خالل عطاءات تنافسية، ونظرا لخرباتهام العميقة. وقد قدرت التكلفة اإلجاملية للمبنى بحواىل

٧٠ مليون جنيه مرصى.

لتحسني بيئة مواتية املفتوحة لخلق املكاتب وقد تم تصميم كل طابق الستيعاب مساحات

اإلتصال واملشاركة بني املوظفني. وتعد مساحات املكاتب املفتوحة عامال يعزز من حل املشكالت

من خالل اإلتصال السهل وتشجيع تبادل األفكار، كام تؤدي إىل تحسني اإلنتاجية، وتسمح بنقل

املعرفة بني املوظفني، وتقوي الروابط بني أفراد مجتمع الرشكة.

»لقد جعل اإلنتقال اىل املكتب الجديد التواصل مع زماليئ أكرث سهولة وفعالية، كام ساعدىن عىل

التفاعل مع عدد أكرب من الزمالء من مختلف اإلدارات يف جيزة سيستمز«. كان هذا رأي االستاذ

محمد زيك اخصايئ االستحقاقات بإدارة املوارد البرشية، الذى أضاف قائال »وعالوة عىل ذلك،

فإن غرف اإلجتامعات متاحة لجميع املوظفني، مام يجمع بني فوائد املكاتب املفتوحة وفرص

الحصول عىل الخصوصية عند الحاجة«.

الخاص مبناها الرشكة جهزت فقد ،)BMS( املباىن إدارة أنظمة يف خربتها عىل وإعتامدا

الرصد واملراقبة أنظمة السالمة واألمن وتوافر للطاقة لضامن األكرث تطورا واملوفرة باألنظمة

والكفاءة يف جميع أنحاء املبنى.

دمج »إن بقوله املباين إدارة مشاريع خدمات عام مدير عمران املهندس رشيف وقد رصح

خدمات إدارة املباين يف مرحلة التصميم األويل للمبنى تزيد من كفاءة األداء من حيث خفض

التكلفة وتوفري الوقت ىف جميع العمليات القامئة ىف املبنى. وبعد اإلنتهاء من مرحلة البناء، يتم

دمج األنظمة عموديا وأفقيا لتوليد البيانات واإلستفادة منها عىل مستويات األنظمة املتعددة«.

أيضا بل اآلىل، التحكم أنظمة من اإلستفادة عىل فقط املباىن إدارة أنظمة فكرة تعتمد وال

الحصول عىل البيانات التى تتم مشاركتها واإلستفادة منها فيام بني األنظمة املختلفة، لضامن

اإلستخدام األكفأ للموارد وضامن أمن وسالمة املتواجدين باملبنى.

قائال أن املباىن إدارة التقنى لخدمات العمل قائد فريق املهندس مصطفى عاشور وقد علق

»املبنى الذىك هو ىف األساس الذى ميثل مجمع متكامل ذو نظام تكيف يولد البيانات ويصدر

التنبيهات، كام يستجيب بصورة متكاملة إىل كافة التغريات.«

التحكم مببنى جيزة فإن الرشكة، تقدمها التى باملباىن التحكم أنظمة وإعتامدا عىل خدمات

هذه تشمل و املثىل. الكفاءة لتحقيق املتكاملة النظم من شبكة خالل من يتم سيستمز

األنظمة أنظمة كهربائية، ولوحات توزيع، ومحوالت، ومولد كهرباىئ، وأنظمة الطوارئ وأنظمة

مكافحة الحرائق، فضال عن أنظمة األمن والدخول.

األنظمة بني لإلتصال قنوات املباىن إدارة خدمة تخلق األنظمة، تلك كل دمج طريق وعن

الحريق والتحكم باإلضاءة والسالمة ىف حالة كالتدفئة والتكييف والتهوية والتحكم املختلفة

بالدخول والخروج، وأجهزة أخرى...

ويقوم نظام التحكم باملباىن بإنشاء التنبيهات السمعية والبرصية ىف حاالت مثل الكشف عن

الدخان، وإنفصال أحزمة املراوح، وحاالت الخلل الكهربايئ وارتفاع ضغط األنابيب واإلرتفاع يف

درجة الحرارة يف أية منطقة معينة، والخروقات األمنية، الخ.

ففى حاالت الحريق ، وعىل سبيل املثال ، يؤدي الحادث تلقائيا اىل إنذار الحريق والتواصل مع

نظام التكييف واألمن واملداخل واملخارج، فيقوم النظام املتكامل بتنظيم توزيع الهواء والضغط

ملنع إنتشار الدخان واللهب. باإلضافة إىل التواصل مع املداخل وأبواب مواقف السيارات لتسهيل

عملية اإلخالء، وىف هذه الحاالت يقوم نظام التحكم باملبنى بإتخاذ كافة اإلجراءات الالزمة.

كام يقوم نظام التحكم باملبنى بسلسلة من اإلجراءات املربمجة ىف حاالت معينة متت برمجة

املبنى سواء أية عملية داخل ، فالنظام قادر عىل بدء وإنهاء حلول مسبقة ملواقف مشابهة

يدويا أو قائم عىل منوذج محدد سلفا. وبفضل شبكة اإلتصاالت املتكاملة التى توصل جميع

العوامل يف وقت املبنى، فإنه من املمكن الحصول عىل رسوم توضيحية لرصد جميع أنظمة

واحد ، وإنشاء سجالت لإلتجاه العام ىف كل عامل من عوامل النظام.

وتعترب الخدمات التى تقدمها أنظمة التحكم باملباىن عامل أسايس لتحقيق الكفاءة التشغيلية

وإدارة املوارد. كام أن إستغالل األنظمة اآللية للمباين الذكية بدأ ىف اإلنتشار ىف قطاعي الطاقة

إلستغالل بداية سوى ليست فهى املوارد، وإستخدام الطاقة كفاءة إلدارة العامة واملرافق

التكنولوجيات الناشئة من أجل مستقبل أفضل.

Giza Systems is excited to work on The Nile Corniche Project with

Qatari Diar. The project is one of Qatari Diar’s major projects in Egypt.

Located on the banks of Nile River in Cairo, the Nile Corniche is a

high-end hospitality and residential complex featuring two towers and

a retail atrium.

The St. Regis Hotel plans to portray the ultimate contemporary luxury

lifestyle in Cairo and will be an important component of the high-end

hospitality and residential complex. The project, envisioned to be one

of the most luxurious in Cairo, consists of a large-scale, high-rise

building complex located on a prominent site facing the Nile River

along the Corniche.

The approximately 193 thousand square meter building will offer an

assortment of facilities, which include hotel guest rooms and suites,

hotel-serviced apartments, hotel luxury-serviced apartments, offices,

retail spaces, stimulating meeting spaces, a main ballroom of 963

square meters, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a health

center. The four-level basement will include a parking garage that can

accommodate up to 667 vehicles.

Giza Systems was commissioned for this project due to its unique

systems integration capabilities that require the understanding of

the emerging technologies, the various systems’ protocols, and the

apposite techniques and strategies for open building control systems.

To carry out the project, Giza Systems will be responsible for the

development of a solid stable multi-platform system that can ensure

the integration of all systems to allow for communication and sharing

of data.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with Qatari Diar on a

project of this scale. The integration of all these various technologies

and systems is riveting, as we are integrating systems at the physical,

logical and application level,” explained Sherif Omran، Enterprise

General Manager. “Our scope for this project includes specifying,

installing, designing and maintaining the functionality of a BMS, MATV,

IPTV, CCTV, Access Control, Fire Detection & Alarm System, Data &

Video, Audio/Visuals systems created on a network communication

protocol, such as one that is IP based,” he elaborated.

Giza Systems’ portfolio, which encompasses a wide range of offerings

that target solutions for smart buildings, aims to deliver robust and

reliable integrated Automated Building Solutions. Our solutions

leverage our expertise and knowledge in the sector and cover:

• Building Management Systems: computer-based control

القطرية ىف مرص. مبوقعه التى تقوم بها رشكة ديار واملرشوع هو واحد من املشاريع الكربى

املتميز عىل ضفاف نهر النيل، يتميز مرشوع كورنيش النيل بالرقى، فهو مجمع من برجني يضم

وحدات ضيافة ووحدات سكنية، باإلضافة إىل ردهة مخصصة للمعارض واملحالت.

ومن املتوقع أن يعكس فندق سانت ريجيس أسلوب الحياة العرصية يف القاهرة، كام سيكون

عنرصا هاما يف مجال الضيافة الراقية.

أما عن الخطط املوضوعة للمرشوع، فهو مصمم ليكون واحدا من أفخم الفنادق يف القاهرة،

وسيقدم املبنى الذى تقدر مساحته بحواىل ١٩٣ ألف مرت مربع مجموعة من الخدمات، والتى

مساحات تجارية و قاعات إجتامعات وقاعة حفالت مبساحة ٩٦٣ مرت مربع، و حاممات سباحة

الطابق السفيل فهو مكون من أربعة مستويات وسيتم خارجية ومغطاة ومنتجع صحى. أما

تخصيصه كموقف للسيارات ليستوعب حتى ٦٦٧ سيارة.

As part of the strategic plans to penetrate the African markets, Giza

Systems has been awarded a Billing and GIS project commissioned by

the Addis Ababa Water and Sanitation Authority (AAWSA). This project

requires the know-how of a leading systems integrator to implement a

Billing System and deploy GIS solutions.

The systems to be implemented will orchestrate the production of

400,000 consumer bills, as well as monitor the distribution network.

The project will essentially enable AAWSA to deploy an automated

flow-through customer management, service order management,

billing and collections.

Giza Systems is responsible for the installation, implementation,

configuration, customization, commissioning and support of an

integrated proven billing solution. The solution implemented includes

customer information management system (CIS), meter work orders

management, charging, billing & payments, and collection management

systems. It incorporates the use of spot billing machines, as well as

the integration between billing systems, GIS, ERP and SBMs.

“The solution utilizes advanced systems with flexible and modular

components and offers enterprise-class scalability, performance and

high-availability,” stated Mohamed Saad, Business Development،

Area Sales Manager. “It also provides comprehensive functionality to

meet the exigent and growing needs of AAWSA and its customers,”

he elaborated.

The new billing system will make it easier for consumers to obtain

their bills from home, in addition to the regular meter readings. It will

also facilitate the process of registration for new meters, and provide

easy access for consumers to view their consumption history at any

given time. The GIS mapping aspect of the project will help decrease

the maintenance time of the distribution network by overcoming water

leakages and solving them on the spot, without affecting delivery.

In a city such as Addis Ababa, studies estimate that 24 percent of

households lack private or communal sanitation facilities, and many of

the existing facilities are below acceptable standards. These staggering

estimates reveal a pressing need for national utilities infrastructure

projects. According to resources, people suffer needlessly without

access to safe water. Such projects will allow the different villages

to have access to clean potable water. Needless to say, this problem

does’t pretain to Ethiopia alone, but rather Africa at large.

“We are thrilled to be awarded this project. Not only does it mark our

beginnings in Africa, but it makes us hope that these technologies and

infrastructure will pave the way for meeting the real needs of the people

of Addis Ababa and ensuring a safer and more reliable environment

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) awarded Giza Systems

the Fiber Network Communications Project for its unique service

capabilities and expertise in the power industry. The project covers

the entire fiber network traversing the whole country along the national

grid, which represents the backbone for the Supervisory Control and

Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

Essentially, the project grants power control centers - integrated in a

SCADA system - the unique capabilities of both monitoring and control

of all the substations. This means that both regional and central control

centers can operate and maintain remote substations within their

transmission network, serving the Electricity Transmission Network.

The project entails working with the most qualified manufacturers and

technology providers in the region.

Some of the power stations to be connected are located in rural areas,

which render monitoring, control, and communication rather difficult.

Connecting the power stations via fiber network creates means for

communication, as well as the requisite elements of monitoring and

control.

“Linking nine power stations with 19 nodes to the power control

center through a fiber network allows for efficient monitoring and

control of those nine sites. Moreover, it ensures the establishment of

nine voice communication channels between the power control center

and maintenance engineers in said stations,” explained Mohamed

Saad, Area Sales Manager. The government of Kenya aims to reduce

technical losses and improve voltage conditions, thereby meeting any

emerging and rising power needs. As part of Giza Systems’ expansion

plans, which began in the Gulf Area, and in concert with state policies

and the desire for closer cooperation with Africa, Giza Systems is

introducing more solutions and projects to Kenya Power.

year, the GSMA took place from the 27th February until the 1st March

and was held in Barcelona, Spain.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is an annual event that hosts and

connects leading market players in the field of mobile technology and

telecommunications.

“We felt extremely proud to represent Egypt at the GSMA for the

second consecutive year. The event was a great opportunity to network

and be informed of the latest trends. Working with ITIDA at these

events is always a rewarding experience as there is a strong sense

Exhibiting at the GSMA Mobile World Congress opens doors

During the event, the team from Giza Systems met with a number

Giza Systems’ sense of responsibility towards society, as well as the

company’s growing corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities,

spurred the idea for Giza Systems Foundation.

The main idea is to promote the optimal use of Information and

Communication Technology (ICT) in the development of education in

Egyptian society, working hand in hand with NGOs, schools, families

and related parties.

Achieving an advanced form of digital education will help change

the Egyptian society politically, socially, economically, and culturally

on the grounds that quality education is the main driver of change in

marginalized communities.

Why the Educational Foundation?

It is recognized that digital literacy is a driving force in supporting

knowledge and education in today’s fast-paced world. Digital literacy

has now become a fundamental part of human rights in the digital

world, as it enables people in all walks of life to use and create

information effectively. The utilization of information technology aids

individuals in optimizing their personal, social and professional skills.

The Problem

There is a huge gap in computer literacy between marginalized areas

and high-end societies in Egypt, reflecting the state of the current

educational system. The current state emphasizes the fact that utilizing

ICT plays a major role in stimulating economic growth and improving

both the soft skills and cognitive skills of society’s individuals.

There have been a number of initiatives for the employment of ICT

in education in Egypt. Unfortunately, the sheer numbers of teachers,

administrators, students and schools, limits the role and effectiveness

of ICT initiatives to a bare minimum.

What the Foundation Aims At

To guarantee the success of the initiative, several factors have to be

taken into consideration. The Foundation aims to raise awareness of

the concept of ICT and the need to improve education as a whole.

In order for society to benefit, it is imperative to first improve living

conditions for families and their communities. Improving the quality

of the educational processes at community schools will play a role in

motivating students, and this can be achieved through the employment

of ICT.

واإلنتاجية بالتعاون مع العاملية للمعارض واملؤمترات، مؤمتر القمة السنوي الثاىن للطاقة واملياه

يف فندق جراند حياة ىف العاصمة مسقط من السادس وحتى التاسع من مايو ٢٠١٢.

يوجه هذا املؤمتر الحرصى رفيع املستوى نحو مرشوعات البنية التحتية الكربى وفرص اإلستثامر

املياه يف سلطنة عامن، وقد استضاف أكرث من ٣٠٠ من الحضور عىل مدى الطاقة وقطاع يف

أربعة أيام. وبوجود نخبة مختارة من املتحدثني من بينهم مسؤولون حكوميون وخرباء الصناعة،

أصبح املؤمتر لعرض إسرتاتيجيات متطورة، وبناء عالقات بني العنارص الفعالة ىف مجاالت الطاقة

Exhibitions and Conferences (GEC) held the 2nd Annual Oman Power

& Water Summit, which took place at the Grand Hyatt Muscat, Oman.

Giza Systems exhibited and participated at the 2nd Annual Oman

Power & Water Summit 2012 held in Muscat, Oman, on 6-9 May, 2012.

Being an exclusive high-profile event geared towards major

infrastructure projects and investment opportunities in Oman’s power

and water sector, the Summit hosted over 300 attendees throughout

the 4 days. Having an impressive line-up of speakers including

government officials and industry professionals generated a platform

for real-time strategy, alliances and accurate needs assessment.

The 2012 Summit provided an update on power and water projects

in Oman, presenting the latest innovations and strategies available

in the power, water and renewable energy industries. It reviewed

the authorities’ key strategies, objectives and challenges facing the

management and conservation of power and water resources.

Once this is achieved, school curricula will be amended by increasing

digital literacy and equipping youth with economic and technical skills,

thus preparing them for the labor market. This will not exclude students

with special needs or those challenged by learning difficulties.

The introduction of e-Learning provides schools and students with an

up-to-date, cost-effective system that yields motivated, skilled, and

knowledgeable individuals. Through the design and development of

instructional material and technological solutions that will enhance

the educational capacity of schools, both students and teachers will

discover creative and interesting ways to interact.

How the Foundation Plans To Do It

To support the program, the Foundation plans to begin by providing

basic human needs to the program beneficiaries. This will help create

real, tangible change in the lives of individuals, which requires a

partnership with NGO’s and other parties working to provide for the

basic needs of individuals.

Starting with ‘Ezbet Khairallah’ in Cairo and focusing on marginalized

areas, the Foundation plans to invest in projects of least resistance to

change by building on the experiences and successful experiments

of previous initiatives in developed areas to employ technology in

education. Simply, the idea is to equip the students with the requisite

competencies and skills through the incorporation and employment of

ICT in the education system. This plan will maximize the impact of the

educational revolution, through carefully selected community school

models, like ‘Khatawat’ School in ‘Stable Antar.’

Vital to this plan is the utilization of creative individuals in the field of

ICT in education and development. Helping teachers overcome their

own issues regarding information technology will also be integral to

the process. This implementation will further aid students in learning,

practicing and mastering professions that can help them enter the

labor market.

‘Khatawat’ School is the pilot project adopted for creating a smart

community school, whereby a holistic integrative approach to the

community as a whole is essential. Its success, sustainability, and

scalability will directly impact the possibility of replicating it throughout

the country and revolutionizing education.

تقديرا لتأثري أنشطة الرشكات عىل املجتمع، إحتفلت جيزة سيستمز ومؤسسة »إنجاز« بجولة

أخرى ناجحة من التعاون مع الرشكات واملدارس املرصية، حيث بلغ التأثري ٦٠,٠٠٠ طالبا يف ١٩

محافظة مختلفة يف مرص.

ويحاىك الربنامج الطالب من املدارس الحكومية والجامعات، ىف سعى إىل متكني الجيل القادم

املهارات. من الطالب عىل عدد من املتطوعني إلرشاد وتدريب ملرص من خالل اإلعتامد عىل

خالل زيادة الوعي حول عدد من املواضوعات مثل اإلدارة املالية وروح املبادرة، والبيئة، والقيادة

والتخطيط للحياة الشخصية، يساعد املتطوعني الطلبة عىل اكتساب دروس الحياة، وكذلك حل

»إنجاز« يوم التواصل مع اآلخرين. أقيم اإلحتفال الذى عقدته مؤسسة املشاكل ومهارات

٣٠ من مايو بهدف تكريم املتطوعني الذين ساهموا ىف منو»إنجاز« و تصدر املؤسسة ىف أنحاء

الجمهورية.

تعمل »إنجاز مرص« مع الطالب من سن ١٢-٢٢ سنة يف املدارس املتوسطة والثانوية والجامعات.

يف كل فصل درايس، يقوم قادة األعامل امللتزمني املسؤولية االجتامعية للرشكات بإرسال موظفني

للقيام املحلية والجامعات امل��دارس إىل

ملدة – املتطوعون يقوم التطوعى. بالعمل

كاملدرب املعلم بدور – أسبوع كل ساعة

املهنية حياتهم يشاركون بحيث للطالب،

العميل التدريب إلعطائهم الشباب، مع

عىل كيفية النجاح يف القطاع الخاص. يتطور

املختلفة »إنجاز« برامج خالل من الطالب

واملتعددة، ليصبحوا جاهزين لسوق العمل،

القادم، ليحصلوا عىل هذه التجربة املثرية التى تساعد يف تحفيز وقيادة الطالب والحصول عىل

مناذج حية يحتذون بها، فتلهمهم ليتقدموا عىل نفس الخطى الناجحة.

In recognition of the impact of corporate activities on the society,

Giza Systems and INJAZ celebrated another successful round of

collaboration with corporate partners and Egyptian schools, reaching

60,000 students in 19 different governorates in Egypt.

The program addresses students from governmental schools and

universities. It strives to empower Egypt’s next generation by relying

on volunteers to mentor and coach the students on a number of topics.

By raising awareness on a number of subjects like finances,

entrepreneurship, leadership, environment and personal life planning,

the volunteers help the students gain life lessons, as well problem-

solving and communication skills.

The event held by INJAZ Egypt on the 30th of May, aimed at celebrating

the volunteers who contributed to the growth and promulgation of

INJAZ across the country.

“We hope to further encourage our colleagues to constantly take

part in volunteering and mentoring at schools and universities,”

stated Ahmed Ossama, Senior Testing Engineer, Consultation and

Integration. “The young generation could always use our experiences,

support and guidance to hone their skills, helping them fulfill their

potential,” he continued.

INJAZ highlighted the importance of the valued corporate partnerships

and commended the volunteers for their time and efforts. It is through

the dedication and commitment of the volunteers that INJAZ is able

to broaden its scope, thus fulfilling its mission of empowering Egypt’s

next generation.

INJAZ Egypt works with students 12-22 years old in middle schools,

high schools and universities. Each semester, business leaders

committed to Corporate Social Responsibility send staff into local

schools and universities. Corporate volunteers become mentors - for

Through the various INJAZ programs, students advance from learning

Giza Systems Holds Blood Drive For the Benefit of Cancer Patients

In support of the World Blood Donor Day and to raise awareness of

corporate social responsibility, Giza Systems organized a blood drive

in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the National Cancer

Institute (AFNCI). The blood drive was held at Giza Systems’ new

headquarters in New Cairo on Tuesday 19th of June, from 11 a.m.

until 4 p.m.

The donations will benefit cancer patients at the National Cancer

Institute (NCI). On average, 8 drives a week need to be organized in

order to ensure a sufficient supply of blood for the patients. One pint

of donated blood helps up to three people, because it is divided into

plasma, platelets and red blood cells.

“We appreciate Giza Systems taking the initiative of raising awareness

for the need for safe blood and blood products. We would definitely

like to hold more drives at Giza Systems as we value such cooperation

and enthusiasm. The spirit of the employees coming to donate blood

was amazing. They felt an immediate sense of accomplishment due

to being able to achieve something so great in such a short period of

time,” said Sherif Mamdouh, General Coordinator of the Blood Bank

Team at the Association of Friends of the National Cancer Institute

(AFNCI).

Dr. Doha Tawfeek of the National Cancer Institute also commented,

“When people come to donate, it is a win-win scenario. They receive

a quick check-up and obtain blood work, while doing something

charitable. We managed to collect 62 blood bags today, which will

reach about 170 patients in need.”

The initiative was a huge success thanks to the great employee

turnout. The enthusiasm and positivity at the event was

inspiring and brought to the forefront the need for safe

blood.

Jeddah City Business Unit (JCBU) Project with the National Water

Company (NWC) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Desiring to provide

located in Al-Andalus District – to Giza Systems with confidence

• Supply of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

• Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

The inauguration of Jeddah City Business Unit aims at providing

exceptional service to ensure customer satisfaction in addition to

building a strong infrastructure in the fields of water, wastewater,

and sanitation. The restructured regulatory framework consists of

12 departments, with over 1455 employees working to achieve the

objectives of the company and achieve customer satisfaction.

“The key priorities of this project are to improve the intermittent

water distribution pattern to Jeddah’s population and to reduce

the volume of wasted water,” commented Ashraf Attia, Giza Arabia

General Manager.

The effective implementation of the project will enable the client

to improve work measurements, increase operational efficiency,

expand services provided, enhance water quality and customer

service, improve financial performance and minimize costs.

حصلت رشكة جيزة العربية عىل حق تنفيذ مرشوع معالجة مياه الرصف الصحي بشامل جدة

املياه لصالح رشكة السعودية، العربية باململكة واملقاوالت للتجارة عزيز مع رشكة بالتعاون

الوطنية.

ففي الجهود الرامية نحو حل مشاكل الرصف الصحي املتصاعدة يف املدينة، وضعت وزارة املياه

والكهرباء خطة عىل مستوى عال حيث أنها ستقوم مبعالجة قضية املياه والرصف الصحي عىل

عدة مراحل.

ويتوقع يف املرحلة األوىل ىف محطة معالجة املياه معالجة ما يقدر ب٢٥٠٠٠٠ مرت مكعب من

املعالجة ىف املياه الكمية املحددة والتى تصل إىل ٥٠٠٠٠٠ مرت مكعب من املياه، وصوال إىل

Giza Arabia was awarded the North Jeddah Sewage Treatment Project

(STP) with Aziz Trading & Contracting Co. in the Kingdom of Saudi

Arabia for the benefit of the National Water Company (NWC). In an

effort to solve the escalating sewage problems in the city, the Ministry

of Water and Electricity devised a high-level plan whereby they would

tackle the issue of water and sewage in phases.

The first phase, intended for the water treatment plant, consists of

treating 250,000 cubic meters of water. In the final phase, the goal is

to reach a capacity of 500,000 cubic meters of treated water.

Specializing in the implementation of major utilities projects and

leveraging its know-how in the water industry, Giza Arabia was

commissioned to provide supply, design, engineering, procurement,

supervision on installation, training, testing, commissioning and start-

up for a number of solutions and systems.

“With the global challenge facing the water sector, operational

efficiency is essential. In addition to environmental and economical

considerations, incorporating agile systems and control processes

achieve increased performance and optimization for the water

and wastewater plant,” stated Amr Fathy El Shafey، Senior Project

Manager.

To ensure operational efficiency, Giza Arabia is carrying out the project

by deploying a number of solutions that included Programmable Logic

Controllers (PLCs), Supply of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

(SCADA) systems, Fiber Optic Cables, and Factory Acceptance Test

(FAT).

These solutions provide water plants with means to ensure that a

central monitoring and control system are in place to obtain real-time

process control data about the operations of the plant.

Giza Arabia was awarded a strategic project in the Saudi market by

the Ministry of Agriculture, Hassa Irrigation and Drainage Authority

(HIDA). To carry out the project, Giza Arabia has partnered with Civil

Works Company, which belongs to Al-Rashed Group and is one of the

main contractors in the Saudi water sector.

The project involves upgrading the irrigation network. The scope

of work entails the supply, engineering, supervising installation,

commissioning, and start-up for the operation, as well as the

monitoring and control of 3,090 farmer outlets in Al-Hassa irrigation.

Giza Arabia is implementing a fully automated system that includes the

deployment of SCADA, PLC, communication systems, hydrometers

and instrumentation, control valves, and farmers’ outlet solutions.

This project is part of a massive program undertaken by the Ministry of

Agriculture to revitalize the country’s infrastructure. Al-Hassa Irrigation

and Drainage Authority is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and is in

charge of hydrological studies and data collection to improve the use

of water for irrigation needs.

HIDA is also responsible for: conservation of irrigation water; estimation

of crop water requirements; distribution of irrigation water to the

farms; operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage canal

systems in the irrigation

schemes managed by

the Ministry.

الحايل، وإلفادة موظفيها واملجتمع ككل، عقدت جيزة سيستمز سلسلة من دورات السيايس املرصي املشهد يف ظل

التوعية ملوظفيها قبيل دورة اإلنتخابات األوىل، لتوعية موظفيها عن املرشحني للرئاسة املرصية.

وقد القت الدورة إقباال عاليا من املوظفني، وقام بعرض املعلومات ورشحها ممثلون رسميون من حملة كل مرشح عىل

مدى خمسة أيام.

وتعليقا عىل فوائد الدورة، رصحت مرييت زىك، مدير إدارة املوارد البرشية بقولها »كانت هذه الدورات جزءا من خطة

تنمية املوارد البرشية لجيزة سيستمز. فنحن نسعى باستمرار ملساعدة موظفينا لىك يكونوا عىل دراية تامة بكل ما

يدور حولهم ىف حياتهم املهنية وخارجها، عن طريق تعريضهم ملختلف وجهات النظر التى تحفزهم فكريا، ومتكنهم

من اإلختيار ألنفسهم، األمر الذي يؤدي إىل اتخاذ قرارات مستنرية بدون اللجوء إىل وسائل اإلعالم التى قد تكون منحازة ألفكار معينة.«

وقد عرض األعضاء الرسميون لحملة كل مرشح معلومات عن خلفية مرشحهم، وسريته الذاتية، وبرنامجه االنتخايب، فضال

عن خططه املستقبلية ملرص. وشملت الدورة جلسات لتلقى األسئلة من الحضور واإلجابة عليها من قبل ممثىل املرشحني

لفهم حملة كل منهم بشكل أكرث وضوحا.

In light of Egypt’s current political scene, and to benefit its employees and society at large, Giza Systems recently held a series of awareness

sessions for its employees on the Egyptian presidential candidates. The sessions – which received a great turnout – were conducted by official

representatives from every candidate’s campaign over the span of five days.

Commenting on the benefits of the sessions, Mirette Zaki, HR Manager said, “These sessions were part of Giza Systems’ Human Resources

development plan. We are constantly striving to help our employees be aware of their surroundings, inside and outside the professional world.

Exposing them to various points of view stimulates them intellectually, and enables them to choose for themselves, which leads to informed

decision-making without mass media biases.”

Official members of each candidate’s campaign held presentations on the background of their candidate, his election program, as well as

his future plans for Egypt. The sessions included a question and answer period that provided the attendees a clearer understanding of every

candidate’s campaign.

Striving to

enhance innovation, as well as

reinforce communication, Giza Systems’

top management participated in one of the LEGO

Serious Play workshop series in June. The workshop

entitled “LEGO Real Time Strategy” involves a hands-on approach for

the development of tools essential for determining and assessing the

company’s identity, strategy development, and business challenges.

The workshop was given by Hisham El Gammal, owner of Quest

Training. During the 2-day workshop, he acted as the facilitator in order

to have the different teams work together towards the construction of

a tangible and robust vision of the organization.

The methodology of the LEGO Serious Play is one that relies on

the basic premise of understanding the business environment

as a complex system that is in a constant state of adaptation and

dynamism.

The workshop started off with individual exercises using LEGO toys,

which was then followed by team model building. It ended with a type

of negotiation process to innovatively and creatively construct the

shared model representing the company’s identity, including possible

opportunities and threats.

The process entailed

open communication with

an emphasis on listening, sharing,

and negotiating, which engendered many

insights and a number of basic guidelines meant

to serve as tenets for the company in strategy development and

decision-making.

Transforming ideas and concepts into tangible concrete models reveals

a lot about the different participants in terms of their perspectives,

their alignment, and even their vision.

“The workshop was extremely revealing and made us examine the

business, as well as our environment. The different perceptions that

were embodied in each of our LEGO constructs came to life and

said a lot about each team member in terms of how we perceive

our business reality, our identity, our problem solving techniques –

simply, our take on matters,” commented Wessam Ghazy, Director of

Institutional Development. “The cognitive and behavioral dimensions

of this exercise enabled us to tap into our potentialities and build a

shared understanding,” she added.

التى تواجها.

وقد أرشف عىل الورشة هشام الجامل، املستشار ىف اإلدارة ومالك مركز »كويست« للتدريب.

وىف خالل الورشة التى إستمرت ليومني، قام بدور املشجع من أجل حث الفرق املختلفة عىل

العمل معا من أجل بناء رؤية ملموسة وقوية للرشكة.

ويعتمد أسلوب »اللعب بجدية مع LEGO« عىل الفرضية األساسية لفهم بيئة األعامل بكونها

نظاما مركبا ويف حالة مستمرة من التغري والتكيف والديناميكية.
