Dear Students, Colleagues and Readers,
Welcome to the NDSU Parking and Transportation Service’s Facts & Figures, the second report issued on the
service programs provided to our valued customers.
As we all know, the learning process never ends, in the parking industry this is an absolute not only for the
customers but also for those of us who work in the industry. We continue to learn about new parking
technologies that we bring to NDSU to make customers’ parking more efficient and less intrusive in their daily
lives. Our aspirations are to provide reasonably priced parking spaces to our paying customers, secure those
spaces for our customers through parking enforcement and modernize NDSU’s parking facilities to have 25
year life spans, at a minimum. In the past 2-years, the NDSU campus has seen many changes to its parking
enterprise and the service it provides, some are noted below. I just started my fourth year at the helm of the
NDSU Parking and Transportation Services office. I’m honored to have worked with key partners and
stakeholders on various campus projects. It has been humbling to learn new processes, in order to
subsequently improve upon them and when required, create new ones in order to generate a more effective &
efficient parking operation.
NDSU parking items of note in academic years 2015-16 and 2016-17:
• Opened the new Transit Center at the A. Glenn Hill facility in January 2016
• Implemented the Passport Mobile Parking App in January 2017
• Reconstructed and/or expanded parking lots in 2015 and 2016; the R-lot, the MU-lot, the WE-lot, the F-
lot, the RF-lot and the PA-lot. We will continue to reconstruct parking facilities as called out in the
NDSU master plan and for our customers.
• Added 7-minute MATBUS service on route 33 to Barry Hall.
• Split up route 32, creating the 32E and 32W MATBUS routes to service customers on Dakota Drive.
Our NDSU business unit strives to:
• Continue building a contemporary, professional and proficient Parking and Transportation unit.
• Encourage transportation alternatives on and around the NDSU campus.
• Provide quality professional services with an emphasis on customer relations for all individuals and
departments; including those with specific needs, unique situations and physical challenges.
• Design, build, maintain and consult with our many partners about campus parking and transportation
systems that are operationally sound, safe, efficient and aesthetically pleasing, while minimizing
conflicts between modes.
• Evaluate and maintain a climate of fiscal integrity. Provide financial integration to support overall
transportation objectives of the University, including pedestrian, bicycle, transit and parking.
Thank you for allowing the Parking and Transportation staff the ability to serve you!
Sincerely,
Mr. Brit D. Stevens NDSU Transportation Manager
