The Country Advocate
Invite the 900-pound Gorilla to help with your garage sale. You’ll have more customers, sell more stuff and make more money. That means more in your pockets at the end of the day, and less junk to haul off to the dump.
How does it work? Simple. While the paper reaches most families in the town, The Country Advocate goes all over northwest Kasnsas. It reaches 41,860 readers in 11 Kansas counties, plus parts of northeastern Colorado and southwest Nebraska.
That’s why it’s the 900-pound Gorilla of Northwest Kansas Advertising, reaching more homes and more people than any other publication, broadcast station, cable system, Internet page or advertising medium.
Reader after reader has tried The Advocate for their ad-vertising. The results?
Stuff sells. People drive for miles to find a good sale. They don’t want to walk away empty-handed. The Gorilla works.
Your newspaper makes it easy for you to be in The Advo-cate. Just call or stop by and place your ad. You’ll be surprised how easy it is, and how affordable. You’ll be surprised — and happy — when your phone starts to ring or people show up at your door.
But call today. Deadline for The Advocate is noon Friday, ONE WEEK BEFORE a weekend sale. Sure, you can get an ad in the paper later, but it won’t be the same. Call the Gorilla.

INTERNAL PET PARASITES: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IN SHORT!
*Roundworms- Both dogs & cats - (Ingestion of soil, feces and environment.) These can infect humans. *Hookworms-Both dogs & cats - ( 3 common ways to get) 1. Migrate through the skin. 2. Ingestion of soil, feces, etc. 3. A mother’s infected uterus or milk. These can infect humans. *Whips- Both dogs and cats - (Ingestion of Soil, feces.) These are not passed to humans. *Tapeworms-Both dogs & cats - (Ingestion of fleas & mice, lice or other animals.) This parasite needs an intermediate host and uses the mouse or flea (examples) as an incubator before it infects the host (your pet). Tapeworm in humans is a different species. *HEARTWORM-Both dogs & cats -These must carry by a vector (mosquitos), and unlike the above parasites, after several months of developing, the microfilaria travel through the bloodstream to the heart. *Coccidia-both dogs & cats - (Ingestion of soil & feces) More likely in young animals. *Giardia-Both dogs & cats - (Ingestion, inhaling and sniffing of the infected cyst stage through contaminated ground or water) This is not a worm, it is a simple one-celled parasite species. HORSES can also suffer from Internal Parasites such as Roundworm & Bots! For Prevention, testing , treatment or questions about Pet parasites Please Call Colby Animal Clinic 785-460-8621 Next Month “External Parasites”!

Thinking ‘bout retiring.Got some plans, you know.
It could be inspiring. There’s places I could go...
So many things that I could do.so many things to see.I could even figure out
who I want to be!
I could learn a whole new tradeor take an ocean cruise...
Sip on Southern lemonadeand catch up on the news!
Brush up on computer skillsDrive a touring bus
Volunteer my expertiseIf I knew what that was?
Convoy in a motor homebouncing down the roadmotorcycle on my own to lighten up the load!
Get a dog to tag along.Sleep in past the crack of dawn.
Ponder where the years have gone.Write a one hit Country Song!
There’s no end to the grandiose planof my imagination
but wonderin, how to beginNow, that’s the complication!

DAD, you’ve been there for meIn countless situations
And I have watched you earnestlyWith greatest admiration
In simple things that you have doneAnd through life’s deepest painYou have instilled much wisdomAnd through you I have gained
Determination, confi denceCourage and refrain
To challenge every circumstanceAnd never quit “the game”
I thank you for your faithfulness at you are always near
I thank you that you’ve paved the wayTo overcoming fear
But that which I most treasure e love that you have shown
Is that by which I measure e greatest man I’ve known.
