Wonderful MotherBy Patrick O’Reilly

God made a wonderful mother,A mother who never grows old;

He made her smile of the sunshine.And He moulded her heart of pure gold;

In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,In her cheeks fair roses you see;God made a wonderful mother,

And He gave that dear mother to me.

Prayers held at

INTRODUCTORY RITES ENTRANCE MUSIC A Mother’s Love by Jim Brickman Thank you for watching over me All of the sleepless nights you lay awake Thank you for knowing when to hold me close And when to let me go Thank you for every stepping stone And for the path that always leads me home I thank you for the time you took To see the heart inside of me You gave me the roots to start this life And then you gave me wings to fly And I learned to dream Because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth No treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love Thank you for every sunlit day That filled the corners of my memory Thank you for every selfless unsung deed I know you did for me Thank you for giving me the choice To search my soul till I could find my voice And I thank you for teaching me To be strong enough to bend

You gave me the roots to start this life And then you gave me wings to fly And I learned to dream Because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth No treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love I thank God for a mother's love Celebrant – In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of

the Holy Spirit. All – Amen. GREETING C. – The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. A. – And with your spirit. SPRINKLING WITH HOLY WATER Christine Davies C. – In the waters of baptism, Bernadette died with Christ and

rose with Him to new life. May she now share with Him in eternal glory. Amen.

LIGHTING OF THE PASCHAL CANDLE Glenn Loft C. – In baptism Bernadette received the light of Christ. That

light has guided her throughout her life. May she now enjoy the risen life with her risen Lord. Amen.

C. – May almighty God have mercy on all of us, forgive us our

sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. PLACING OF THE PALL Hayden Loft & Olivia Anthony C. – At her baptism Bernadette received the new garment, and

was asked to wear it spotlessly throughout her life. May the Lord not look on any wrong that she may have done during her life, but rather look upon her faithfulness to her God and her love for her family and friends. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER C. – Let us pray. Almighty God, our Father, we firmly believe

that your Son died and rose to life. We pray for our sister, Bernadette who has died in Christ. Raise her at the last day to share the glory of the risen Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. LITURGY OF THE WORD READING Andrew Davies A Reading from the Song of Songs. My beloved spoke, and said to me, “Rise up, my beautiful one, and come away. For, behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. The flower appears on the earth. The time for singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree ripens her green figs. The vines are in blossom. They give out their fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, And come away.” The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (sung) The Lord’s My Shepherd (Crimond) The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want. He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by. My soul He doth restore again; And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, Even for His own Name's sake. Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me; and Thy rod And staff me comfort still. My table Thou hast furnished In presence of my foes; My head Thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows. Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in God's house for evermore My dwelling-place shall be.

ACCLAMATION (sung) GOSPEL C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. A. – Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to His disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said: “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The Gospel of the Lord. A. – Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

HOMILY PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL C. – For our sister Bernadette, let us pray to our Lord Jesus

Christ, who said: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me shall live even in death and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

Nicole Loft (on behalf of Kirsty Hawkins) – For those here today, may the life of our beautiful nana

and mum whom together we loved and admired, remind you all to embrace and cherish your family and friends even when you face adversity. We pray to the Lord.

A. – Lord, hear our prayer. Sam Anthony –

For giving us our Nana with whom we shared many special times together. We pray that the Lord will remember the unconditional love that Nana showed all her grandchildren and family. We pray to the Lord.

A. – Lord, hear our prayer. Annie Davies –

We remember all the fun times we shared with Nana – like putting the soft toys down the laundry chute. May we never forget these treasured memories and forever hold them in our hearts. We pray to the Lord.

A. – Lord, hear our prayer.

Hayden Loft – Lord please watch over our beautiful Nana who is now in

heaven with Pa and her family. Together may they enjoy peace and love in God’s kingdom. We pray to the Lord.

A. – Lord, hear our prayer. Jude Davies – For all of our family, relatives and friends who knew and

loved Nana for her smile, humour and stories. Comfort us in our sorrow and take inspiration from the strength and gentleness she showed throughout her life.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. Joshua Hawkins – Let us pray for those who care for the sick and aged,

especially the wonderful carers, nurses and doctors who looked after Nana during her illness and time at Campbell Place: that they may be rewarded for their gentleness and compassion in this life and the next. We pray to the Lord.

A. – Lord, hear our prayer. C. – God, our shelter and our strength, you listen to the cry of

your people: hear the prayers we offer for our departed brothers and sisters. Cleanse them of their sins and grant them the fullness of redemption. We ask you this through Christ Our Lord.

A. – Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER C. – At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine

teaching, we dare to say: A. – Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

C. – Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously

grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A. – For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

FINAL COMMENDATION C. – Before we go our separate ways, let us take leave of our

sister. May our farewell express our affection for her, may it ease our sadness and strengthen our hope. One day we shall joyfully greet her, when the love of Christ, which conquers all things, destroys even death itself.

SONG OF FAREWELL (sung) PRAYER OF COMMENDATION C. – Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our

sister Bernadette, in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ, she will rise with Him on the last day. Merciful Lord, turn to us and listen to our prayers, open the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with the assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our sister for ever.

A. – Amen. C. – May the angels lead you into paradise, may the martyrs

come to welcome you and take you into the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

A. – Amen. RECESSIONAL MUSIC Mama by Il Divo
