Another Imminent Danger

Bible prophecy says Russia will march-into EUROPE! But at a time, and un­der conditions that no one seems to un­derstand. But Bible prophecy also saysthat the United States today faces animminent danger, other than Russia­of which our people seem totally oblivi­ous! It's time we know the TRUTH!

I went to Europe again to see andreport to you what has actually hap­pened since my last trip in 1947. What1 saw was ASTOUNDING-tOtally unre­alized by the American people-i-xorreported to you by the commercial newscorrespondents and commentators. These shifts and trendsare rapidly setting the stage for cata­strophic world events. Their meaning isrevealed only by GOD ALMIGH1Y, theCreator and the RULER of the universe,IN YOUR BIBLE!

This past summer two of our men,our son Richard D. Armstrong, and

Roderick Carl Meredith, were already inEurope six weeks before Mrs. Arm­strong and I arrived. They accompaniedus home. They are here in the studiowith me now.

And we want to tell you what nonews commentator has revealed-thetrue SIGNIFICANCE and MEANING be­hind the rapidly changing scene in Eu­rope.

I'm going to tell you, now, and in thenext few broadcasts, what prophecy saysRUSSIA will and will not do--and whatIS going to come out of this British­American effort toward a UNITED EU­ROPE.

How Europeans ThinkWe saw, of course, as all observers

see who travel over Europe, a war­devastated heterogeneous mass of dense­ly populared nations now almost whol­ly recovered-thanks to the generosityof United States DOLLARS. But the ex­rent of that recovery in various Europeannations, and where it is leading, is totallyunrealized by the American people. Wesaw an unstable France, still somewhat

listless and discouraged as a result oftwo invasions by the Germans, most ofits people gripped by FEAR-wantingPEACE, but AFRAID of any movement orplan to bring it about. We saw an Italy,sufficiently recovered to be somewhatgay, carrying on in their industrial andcommercial life about "as usual"-but intalking to many of the plain peoplethemselves, we found them longing fora new LEADER-another DICTATOR, likeMussolini. Of course Mussolini becamevery unpopular in defeat. Mussolinicame to a violent and very undignifiedand disgraceful END at the hands of hisown people. But today we find theItalian people longing NOT for democ­racy, as so many Americans gulliblybelieve-but pointing out that "Mus­solini gave us this largest and finest in­door swimming plunge in the worldfor our children"-"Mussolini gave usthis wonderful modern housing district"-Mussolini gave us this-Mussolinigave us that. Americans, schooled in theideas and ideals of the REPUBLICANform of government which we call DE­

MOCRACY, do not realize the altogetherdifferent concept and attitude of Euro­peans and peoples of other parts of theworld, who DO NOT W AN'r DEMOCRACY.In their mind, and their schooling, dic­raters are regarded as BENEFACTORS OFTHE PEOPLE. They do not see in Dic­tatorships what WE see-that they areAGGRESSORS, plotting and fomentingwars, building to ATTACK and to CON­QUER the free nations,

In Spain the people have a Dictator­ship. Some of them don't like it, ofcourse, but EVERYONE goes along withit-there is no other possibility open.And right now, with the United Statesopening up new money-bags of billionsof American dollars for Europe, andSpain now for the first time coming infor her share, the word has been passedalong to the Spanish people to be verynice to American tourists.

We found many little nations in Eu­rope riding on a wave of prosperity­Switzerland, Belgium, Holland. Butthese nations are not large enough todominate in European affairs.

Germany-a GIANT Revived

The SIGNIFICANT and eye-openingrevelation came in GERMANY. The Ger­mans have believed themselves to bethe MASTER RACE. Are they nowCHANGED, beaten down, discouraged,after a SECOND World War defeat?Have they been reduced to a humbled,impotent third-rate people who willnever again rise as a major power or athreat to the world?

In February, 1945-just a few monthsbefore the end of the war-PresidentRoosevelt and Prime Minister Church­ill announced the joint American-Brit-

ish policy on Germany. This was thesolemn policy and warning for the fu­ture. Listen.

Quote: "It is our inflexible purposeto destroy German militarism and Na­zism and to insure Germany will neveragain be able to disturb the peace ofthe world. We are determined to dis­arm and disband all German armedforces; break up for all time the Ger­man General Staff that has repeatedlycontrived the resurgence of Germanmilitarism; remove or destroy all Ger­man military equipment; eliminate orcontrol all German industry that couldbe used for military production . . . Itis not our purpose to destroy the peopleof Germany, but only when Nazism andmilitarism have been extirpated willthere be hope for a decent life for Ger­mans, and a place for them in the com­munity of nations."

And now, a short nine years later, be­hold the spectacle of Washington andLondon making every possible diplo­matic effort, backed by AMERICAN DOL­LARS, to do TWO THINGS: Create aUNITED STATES OF EUROPE, and to RE­ARM GERMANY.

Where is it leading us? WHAT DOESPROPHECY REVEAL-for it's true thatGod Almighty, IN THE BIBLE, revealsexactly what is COMING of all this.

Yes-What DOES It Mean?

If there be a United States of EU­ROPE, are we to suppose that such anARMED United Europe-a NEW UNITEDEMPIRE of two hundred seventy-fivemillions of people-can be entirely con­trolled by Washington and London?WHO WOULD dominate and reallyRULE? There is only ONE NATION thatpossesses the INDUSTRY, the energy, thePURPOSE, and the POWER to provide theleadership within the new EuropeanEmpire, and that is GERMANY. Andonce they rise to leadership within anew united European Empire--once itsgreat, preponderant MILITARY FORCE iscreated and united under GERMAN MILI­TARISM, as it inevitably would be, itwould be the height of folly to supposethat they would accept any further dom­inance from Britain or America.

My son, Richard, has been in Europeand in Germany each of the last threeyears-he has seen the RAPID rise backto POWER of the Germans. And now Iwant you to hear from him, and RodMeredith. They have just returned froma three and a half month tour of investi­gation throughout Europe. past three years I have seen a breath­taking growth of the industrial power ofa narion that refuses to stay put down,that will not accept defeat as a perma­nent status. Germany is again one of theleading industrial nations of the world.She is producing roughly twice asmuch now as she was at the prewarpeak! We are faced with the dilemmaof trying to unify Europe and relying onGermany in order to protect ourselvesagainst Russia. But the Germans are nortoo sure that they need our protectionagainst Russia and the foreign offices ofthe United States and Great Britain arenow beginning to fear that Germanyjust might try to make her own pactwith Russia.

"The Germans will not remain a na­tion of soldiers paid by our billions ofdollars to protect US. from Russia. Theyhave at the present time the nucleus ofthe coming army-in the police force.

"Have you ever seen a police forcethat marches in steel helmets and hightopped black boots carrying rifles withbayonets fixed? Marching in militaryfashion? The officer corps that will bethe nucleus of the new German army isalready a fact and a dreadful one to be­hold when you see the feelings stirredin the hearts of the German people bythe sight of Germans marching underarms once again!

"Konrad Adenauer has warned ourgovernments of the risk involved inarming Germany again. It is a 'calculat­ed risk' and what a risk! We could notkeep Germany from rearming now ifwe wanted to!

"It is already a fact that Germany isthe dominant force in Europe! It is nota dream, rather, a reality!

"We did not take the idea of suprem­acy out of the German minds by con­quering them! We beat them. We madetheir land desolate physically-yes, weeven beat them psychologically, for awhile. But we must remember that thisis a thing that cannot be permanent andnationalism is something we did nottake out of their minds, While we aretrying to buy friends with dollars-di­plomacy-thinking that they shouldsurely "love" us because of all the moneywe've sent them, they are hating usmore every day.

"They are going to unite. But whyshould we be gullible enough to thinkrhar the millions of people in Europeare going to do this just to satisfy theUnited States? Most people in thiscountry have no idea of the hatred feltfor the U.S. in most Europeau countries.

"Yes, Europe is scared of Russia; andGermany is propagandizing this scarefor all it's worth-so are other powers inEurope that are working even morefeverishly for European unity. But-the

Yes, THIS is the REVELATION OFJESUS CHRIST, as the very first 5 wordsof the Book of Revelation plainly say.WHY haven't men ever ACCEPTED thatfact? What the SEALS Mean

Jesus Christ revealed to us that thel sr seal represented FALSE religiousleaders, going out in the name of JesusChrist, using the prestige of His NAME,preaching that He is The CHRIST, ex­halting Him, but DECEIVING THEWORLD, by denying HIS MESSAGE OFTHE GOVERNMENT OF GOD.

This deceiving the world about theGOVERNMENT and LAW of God, whichis THE WAY to world peace, prosperity,happiness and ABUNDANT living, ledinevitably to the occurrence of the 2ndseal, WARS, climaxing at this age-end in

WORLD WARS! And THAT'S where weare NOW-in the recess between the2nd and 3rd world wars! Next is to

come universal FAMINE, followed im­mediately by unprecedented epidemicsof disease. And the 5th seal revealed awholesale MARTYRDOM OF TRUE CHRIS­TIANS, of which the previous martyr­dom of centuries ago was merely a typeand forerunner. But GOD ALMIGHTYSHALL CUT THOSE DAYS SHORT!

At precisely this juncture, THP. A 1.1.­

POWERFUL CREATOR SHALL INTER­VENE IN WORLD AFFAIRS! The leadersof MEN in this earth, with minds ofwild animals, wuuld soon use the fright­ful powers of destruction now beinginvented and produced-such as theatomic and hydrogen bombs-to AN­NIHILATE HUMAN LIFE FROM OFF THISPLANET, if Almighty GOD did not stepin with DIVINE power, and TAKE THERULP. OVER THE PEOPLE AWAY FROMBESTIAL TYRANTS who lust for worldconquest!

And so we saw that the opening ofthe 6th seal revealed the awe-inspiringINTERVENTION OF GOD ALMIGHTY!First, God will cause terrifying signs tooccur in the SUN, and in the MOON, andin the STARS!

Human tyrants, aggressors and unjustleaders, and ALL men who have beendefiant of God and His ways of PEACEand of LOVE, will be thrown into starkTERROR! God Almighty has pleadedwith humanity for 6,000 years withLOVE, with kind and patient ADMONI·TION. But MEN have REJECTED God'swarnings-they KILLED the prophetsHe sent, they CRUCIFIED His own Son,rejected His MbSSAGE that would haveltd to world PEACE, they MARTYRED Hisapostles! And now, once again in thisage-END, the forces of EVIL in thisworld will perpetrate the most colossalMARTYRDOM of saints of all time! Sonow, finally, after 6,000 years of preach-

ing that fell on deaf cars, GOD ALMIGHTYWILL SPEAK TO THIS WORLD IN ALANGUAGE IT WILL UNDERSTAND! Hewill PUNISH this world for its evil, asANY loving and UNDERSTANDING par­em will punish his rebellious childrenwho refuse to listen to kind and lovingadmonition! The prophet Jeremiah fore­told this day: "A noise shall come evento the ends of the earth; for the Lordhath a controversy with the nations, hewill plead with all flesh; he will givethem that are wicked to the sword,sairh the Lord" (jer. 25: 31). GOD HELPUS to see and understand the trueMEANING of world events today!

Men CANNOT Interpret

We were very plainly told that NOMAN can understand, or REVEAL themeaning of this prophecy. JESUS CHRISTwas seen standing BEFORE the Father onthe throne, and He ALONE was foundworthy and able to strip off the sealsthat closed the prophecy, and to RE­VEAL it to men.

But as Jesus stripped off the first fewseals, and as John recorded what heSAW, in the vision, the whole thing wasSYMBOLIC! But NO MAN can interpretthis Book of Revelation. JESUS CHRISTis the Revelator. The Apostle John wasnot the Revelator. No modern religiousleader is the revelator. This is the Reve­lation of JESUS CHRIST, and we mustaccept HIS revelation-HIS interpreta­ticn - or fail to understand! THAT'Sthe master key of this mysteriousPROPHECY.

SO we found that Jesus Christ DIDreveal the meaning, in PLAIN LAN­GUAGlJ, to His own disciples, in HisOlivet prophecy of Matthew 24, Mark13, and Luke 21.

Under the 6th seal, we saw that Godwill cause such signs to occur in theheavens-in the SUN, the MOON, andthe stars-that men will be filled withconsternation, and they will start to fleein frantic TERROR! Now, at last, theyshall know that God has NOT gone wayoff! Now, at last, men shall know thatthe day of supernatural acts and miraclesis NOT past. "And I beheld when he hadopened the sixth seal, and, lo, there wasa great earthquake; and the sun becameblack as sackcloth of hair, and the moonbecame as blood; And the stars of heav­en fell unto the earth, even as a fig treecasteth her untimely figs, when she isshaken of a mighty wind. And the heav­en departed as a scroll when it is rolledtogether; and every mountain and islandwere moved Out of their places. And thekings of the earth, and the great men,and the rich men, and the chief captains,and the mighty men, and every bond­man, and every free man, hid themselvesin the dens and in the rocks of the moun­tains; And said to the mountains and

rocks, Fall 011 us, and hide us from theface of him that sirterh on the throne,and from the wrath of the Lamb. Forthe great day of his wrath is come;and who shall be able to stand?" (Rev.6:12-17).

You Need NOT Fear!

Oh, if men knew GOD, they would notbe afraid! If you will seek GOD, and findHim and HIS WAY, thru Jesus ChristOur Saviour, no harm nor plague shallcome near you! But mankind must nowbe brought to acknowledge GOD, and theREIGN of God, before humanity blastsitself out of existence with the terrifyingatomic and hydrogen bombs and otherforces of destruction produced by God­defying MAN.

Now, remember, as we read before:"Immediately after the tribulation ofthose days shall the sun be darkened,and the moon shall not give her light,and the stars shall fall from heaven, andthe powers of the heavens shall be shak­en" (Mat. 24: 29). And then, as the in­spired Apostle Peter quoted from Joel'sprophecy, in his Pentecost-day sermon,"The sun shall be turned into dark­ness, and the moon into blood, beforethat great and notable day of the Lordcome" (Acts 2: 20).

And so here we have three successiveevents to come-in a definite one-two­three order. 1) The great Tribulation­or, as the fifth seal pictures it, the greatmartyrdom of saints by the organizedenemies of GOD'S RULE; 2) AFTER theTribulation, the awe-striking signs in theheavens, when God FIRST begins Hissupernatural intervention; then 3), theDAY OF THE LORD. I showed you, in aprevious installment that The DAY OFTHE LORD is the time of God's VENGE­ANCE on the powers of evil on thisearth-His JUDGMENTS, which meansHis absolute JUSTICE-the PLAGUES Heshall send to PUNISH this world for itsevil.

WHY These Plagues?

Notice! For 6,000 years God has sentHis LOVING Messages to mankind. InLOVE God revealed His law-His WAYof life that would lead to everythingGOOD and desirable-to our first parents,Adam and Eve. God has sent all Hisprophets with HIS Message of PEACE,revealing to mankind the WAY to peaceand happiness-but men have REJECT­ED the message, and KILLED the proph­ets. They CRUCIFIED God's SON, whobrought the GOOD NEWS of the KING­DOM OF GOD--which is The WORLD TO­MORROW-they martyred Jesus' APOS­TLES who went out into the world withthe Message of GOD'S WAY OF LIFE, andGOD'S RULE over our lives. And I tellyou, that as God Almighty now once<lgain sends this SAME MESSAGE to all the

world by my voice over the world's mostpowerful radio stations, that if historyrepeats, and unless God supernaturallyprevents, that same fate will come tome!

All these men of God have pleadedwith this rebellious world in LOVE. Theyhave brought a Message of PEACE, ofLOVE, of MERCY and compassion. Thruthem God has pleaded with this stiff­necked and self-willed world for 6,000years. God has WARNlJ{) the world ofwhere its own ways and devices willfinally lead-to the total ANNIHILA­TION of human life from off this plan­et!

In LOVE, and in TENDER MERCY, Godhas given this stubborn misguided hu­man race EVERY CHANCE, for 6,000 longyears, to SAVE ITSELF from a self-im­posed destruction. But men would notheed. THEY WILL NOT HEED TODAY.They continue, even now, to deviseforces of destruction that will result inthe suicide of the human race, UNLESSGod does intervene.

I tell you on the authority of JesusChrist, that God is about to step in andSPEAK to this rebellious and hell-bentworld in the ONLY LANGUAGE THEWORLD WILL HEED--God will nowPUNISH this world for irs evil! As anyloving parent PUNISHES his child whowill not listen to kind and loving ad­monition, so now God is going to PUN­ISH this world with just JUDGMENTS-with PLAGUES so terrible that theworld will at last be FORCED to turnfrom its wicked ways, and to seek Godand HIS WAYS that lead to peace andeverything GOOD. God will PREVENT thesuicide of humanity-He will SAVE thisevil world FROM ITSELF! And THAT isthe period coming, described in morethan 30 different prophecies scatteredthru both Old and New Testaments,as The DAY OF THE LORD, which shalllead directly into the SECOND COMINGOF CHRIST, [0 bring us, at last, WORLDPEACE!

God's Wrath Restrained

But, as we begin the 7th chapter ofThe Book of Revelation, we find thatthe DAY OF THE ETERNAL-the time ofthese terrible PLAGUES God shall send-is to be held up temporarily, until acertain OTHER event of GOD'S doingtakes place.

And now to chapter 7 of this greatestprophecy ever written: "And after thesethings I saw four angels standing onthe four corners of the earth, holdingthe four winds of the earth, that thewind should not blow on the earth, noron the sea, nor on any tree. angels, to whom it was given to hurt theearth and the sea. Saying, Hurt not theearth, neither the sea, nor the trees, tiIIwe have sealed the servants of our Godin their foreheads. I heard the numberof them which were sealed: and therewere scaled an hundred and forty andfour thousand of all the tribes of thechildren of Israel" (Rev. 7: 1-4).

Now I want you to notice carefully afew important points. First, the preced­ing words show that The judgments ofThe DAY OF THE LORD has come atthis exact junction. But God HOLDS ITBACK. Notice, that just as the DAY OFTHE LORD is about to strike, John seesin his vision four angels, holding backthe four WINDS which are about toBLOW on the earth. You'll see, a littlelater, that these winds blow the 7TRUMPETS which are to follow. These,of course, are SYMBOLS, but they repre­sent things this world will find areVERY REAL. But they are restrained UN­TIL the SERVANTS OF GOD are sealedin their foreheads. First to be sealed arethe 144,000.

WHO Are the 144,oOO?

England and France

It is easy for an American to feel athome in England. Racially, we are basi­cally one people. Our common ties aredeep-rooted and although many of ourcustoms differ to a degree, our philoso­phy and way of life are the same. Amongthe English and American peoples as awhole, the feeling of Anglo-Saxon"brotherhood" remains the same-de­spite open or hidden disagreementsamong our political leaders. And, afterall, who ever heard of two brothers whonever quarrelled?

The English people, by pluck andhard work, have recovered remarkablyfrom the effects of the war. The appear­ance of many of the larger cities haschanged considerably even in the pasttwo years, and it is becoming increasing­ly difficult to discover any of the devas­tation caused by the German bombs.

The sturdy Briton is on his way backto "normal." But the British Empire hassuffered severely since the war, and isby no means the great world power itonce was. Also, the British businessmanis having a hard time currently in theworld trade markets. In South America,the Near East, the Far East-even inCommunist China, British firms arebeing outbid and undersold by none

other than-the West Germans! Ofcourse this will not stop Britain's post­war recovery. In the present situation,hard-working Britain is certain to keepits place among the great nations of theworld.

The French post-war recovery haslagged behind that of England, WestGermany, and other countries. Althoughthe sidewalk cafes are running fullswing again, and everyone appearshappy, France's economic situation isperilous. She is through as a first classcolonial power. The recent Indo-Chinadebacle was a crushing blow to the tot­tering structure of the French ColonialEmpire.

In production, the plain fact is thatthe French workman hasn't even com­pared with his more industrious neigh­bors in Britain, and in West Germany.Communist-inspired Strife, union walk­OUtS, and other factors enter in, but theaverage Frenchman just doesn't over­work himself-and lacks the initiativeand burning desire to achieve which isso conspicuous in the Germans.

Germany: The Key Nation

West Germany's economic comebacksince the war is amazing, From theruins of the Nazi empire, a new Ger­many has emerged which is now begin­ning to take its place among the greatworld powers.

Germany has always been the eco­nomic and industrial heart of Europe.The Allies were quick to realize thisafter the war, and began taking steps toaid in a limited recovery of German in­dustry. The center of German heavy in­dustry is the Ruhr-a rolling, grassy,river-rent area of less than 2000 squaremiles. In 1945, the Ruhr was history'sgreatest junk heap. Hungry, hollow­eyed workmen watched while their ma­chines were masked for removal as warbooty and reparations. Apparently, theAllies planned to make the Ruhr a goatpasture.

But all has changed now. The Ruhris again Europe's workshop. In 1954, itproduced 8.41 per cent of the world'scoal, 6.96 per cent of the world's pigiron, 6.52 per cent of the world's crudesteel, $1.4 billion worth of textiles, $1.1billion of chemicals, and $2 billion ofmachine tools!

This tremendous productive capacityof the Ruhr-and of all Germany­makes it an important factor to be reck-

oned with in European economy andpolitics.

It is almost inevitable that Germanywill once again produce weapons of de­struction. It is significant that this pro­duction will be directed, principally, bythe very industrialists who led Hitler'swar machine and worshipped at theNazi shrine!

Remember Alfred Krupp, the manwhose factories furnished Hitler's le­gions with munitions and militaryequipment with which to conquer theworld' Recent repofts reveal that thehuge Krupp factories in Essen havebeen completely rebuilt and now oper­ate in two shifts around the clock. Abouteighty per cent of the military equip­ment now being turned out is beingsold to the neutrals who, in turn, sellthem to the highest bidder.

Krupp also has contracts for a steelmill in India, another in Pakistan, anda nickel works in Greece. He has evenoffered to build bridges between Italyand Sicily, and across the Bosporus,

Such former Nazi industrial baronsas Alfred Krupp were closely watchedby the Allies immediately after the warand were greatly restricted in their ac­tivities. But now they are beginning torebuild their former industrial empiresand renew production of military items.

But for what war? World War III?And for which side will they work?

The answers to these questions areVITAL! Bur now let us consider for amoment the German psychology andtheir present attitudes.

German Hopes

Most of the German people are sickand tired of war-for the time being atleast. They have lived through two ter­rible defeats within a generation, andthey are fearful lest they become a battle­ground for W odd War III.

But the Germans are by nature a veryaggressive people. They will work dayand night to be, as they phrase it, "ontop." They are a people of great indus­try, initiative, and determination. Toreally understand their almost fanaticdesire to be "on top," you have to ex­perience it. It is not all elusive "feeling,"but a concrete FACT which even thecasual observer cannot help bur notice.

Dick Armstrong and I passed factoryafter factory going full blast late atnight. In the fields we saw principallywomen working-so that the men might

be free to work in heavy industry, rhekind of industry which can be quicklyconverted to military production.

While we were there, the Germanteam won the world's soccer champion­ship in Switzerland. It was an upset vic­tory over a heavily favored Hungarianteam, and was Germany's first majorsports triumph since the war. Youshould have seen the reaction! Thou­sands of people celebrated until late atnight-in the cafes, the beer gardens­everywhere. The large department storesquickly put up pictures of the Germanteam, and the people thronged aroundthe store windows to see the team thathad become national heroes. The aver­age German was thrilled to be "topman" again, and many of them ver­bally expressed this feeling. It was notjust the joy of winning the champion­ship. It was the feeling that Germanywas seperior-s--abooe other nations.

This is only a small example of thetype of race pride and national feelingthe Germans have. It can be used formuch good-IF it is directed into theright channels. Too often this has notbeen the case.

A New German Army

According to present Allied plans,the Germans will soon be manhingagain. Britain and America have wantedto ratify the proposal to integrate Ger­many into the European Deiense Com­munity. But France has procrastinatedalmost to the breaking point, and atthis writing has still failed to act onE.ne.

Now, Britain and the U.S. are threat­ening to rearm Germany outside ofE.D.e.-unless France acts on it quick­ly. In other words, the alternative toE.D.e. is a new German national tlrmy.

Knowing the militaristic tendency inGermany, our diplomats speak of the re­arming of Germany as a CALCULATEDRISK. It is the risky matter of rearm­ing the very legions that twice set outto conquer the world-and almost JUC­ceeded:

The present plan is to stan by put­ting 500,000 Germans back into uni­form. Most of them will be used asground troops. The new soldiers will,in the main, be too young to havefought in Hider's legions. But they nev­ertheless received training during theirformative years in Nazi-controlledscbools teaching Nazi ideologies.

It is necessary that the commissionedand non-commissioned officers have pre­oioes military experience. This meansthat they will have been the formerleaders in Hitler's Nazi war machine.

Already, reports from Germany indi­cate that many of Hitler's former top­flight generals will help direct the newGerman army. It is affirmed that these

former Nazi chiefs have now turned todemocracy and want to co-operate withthe West. An example of this is thenews that Goering's Luftwaffe deputy,the former Field-Marshal Erhard Milch,has been secretly freed on parole fromthe American War Crimes jail at Lands­berg. He was sentenced to 15 years forthe crimes against prisoners of war anddeporting slave labor. Because of "goodconduct" he has been released very earlyand is now reportedly slated for a bigjob in WeJt Germany's coming air force.'Does tbi: make SENSE?

Few people seem to realize it, butthe spirit of Nazism is still very strongin millions of German minds and hearts.Many of our own leaders have affirmedthis truth. But not knowing or trustingin the power of God, they fear Russia,and believe that the power of revivedGerman militarism can be employed toprotect the democracies of Western Eu­rope.

But if history teaches any lesson clear­ly, it shows that a strong Germany al­ways becomes a militant Germany. Itspells DANGER for the peace-loving de­mocracies of the world! In the light ofBible prophecies, which will be revealedmonth by month in these pages, the re­vival of German military might is afrightful omen for our peoples.

Inside Spain

Here in Spain, a new sense of destinyhas arisen. It is because America is nowbeginning to pump millions of dollarsof military and economic assistance intothis nation. Here, tOO, the U.S. hopesto build a "friendly" military power, anda new era is dawning for GeneralissimoFrancisco Franco's armed services.

Let us realize that Franco's regime inSpa in is as militaristic and totalitarian aswere those of Hitler and Mussolini.Wherever Dick Armstrong and I wentin Spain, we found "civil guards" carry­ing rifles and sometimes with fixed bayonets. These are in addition to thepolice and the regular army. They arestationed in public buildings, in parks,on the highways outside of each town.They look quite prepared to preserve"order" in case anyone tried to buck theregime.

Remember that Franco's regime wasdefinitely pro-Nazi before and duringthe last war. Spain was even used as atesting ground for Hitler's Stuka divebombers and other military imple­ments. In fact, the present Spanish airforce is still composed principally ofoutdated German planes-Spanish-builtMesserschmirt 109 fighters, trirnotoredJunkers transports and Heinkel bomb­ers.

A little realized fact is that JUSt be­fore the end of World War II hundredsof Nazi agents infiltrated into Spain and

set up the headquarters of a Nazi Un­derground. Here in a sympathetic coun­try, many die-hard Nazis are planninga return to power. They are the head­quarters of a world-wide Nazi under­ground. To Nazis the world over, theysend out what is known as the MadridCircular Letter-a blueprint for a Nazicomeback.

I asked a number of our governmentofficials about this problem, but most ofthem were afraid to talk although theyknew of its existence. One of them ad­mitted he knew a lot about the sub­ject, but said it was "too hot" an issuefor him to discuss in his official capacity.

I did learn some interesting thingsfrom some of our newspaper corre­spondents in Madrid. One of the mostsignificant facts is that former S.S.Colonel Otto Skorzeny, long known forhis activities in the Nazi undergroundin Spain, had even gone so far as to tryto form a German Legion here of Nazisympathizers. His plan was discouragedbecause of American pressure.

At the present time, the official policyof the Spanish government is to en­cOllfage friendliness to America andAmericans. And Dick Armstrong and Ifound the average Spaniard very cordial-and with a friendly interest and curi­osity about everything American. Butpeople follow their leaders-and Spainis rigidly controlled by a church-statedictatorship which is by its very natureanti-democratic. This factor is destinedto control Spain's future course of ac­tion.

Watch for United Europe

Even as early as last fall, the ministersof six European countries--includingGermany-pledged to work "unerringlyand without hesitation" to weld theirnations into one powerful state. Theycalled for the quick formation of aUnited States of Europe.

It is a well-known fact that Germanyis almost certain to dominate any unionof European nations. She is the indus­trial and economic heart of Europe, and,potentially, is the strongest militarily.And these German people still feel asense of destiny in world affairs. Oneway or the other, they are determinedto be "on top."

The prophesied "Beast" of Revelation17 is destined to rise once more out ofthe bottomless pit. The facts disclosedherein point toward this revival in thel'ery near future!

As the servants of the Living God, itis our job to warn people the world overwhat the future holds, and teach themGod's true way of life so that they mightbe found worthy to escape the terribleevents which lie ahead in the closingdays of this age.

On the other hand, the Scripture doesnot set a definite date for the creationof matter either. Adam and the worldof plants and animals uie are acquaint­ed with were created approximately4000 B.C., but the heavens and earthwere brougb: into existence at an earliertime. They were created first of all-"Inthe beginning" as stated in Gen. 1: 1.

Earth NOT Created in Chaos

When first created, the world was inharmony and order for "God is not theauthor of confusion" (I Cor. 14: 33).The condition described in Gen. 1: 2where the earth "was ( or became)without form (tohu), and void; anddarkness was upon the face of the deep"refers to a later time following a de.struction of that original creation. "He( God) created it not in vain (tohu)."The identical Hebrew word is used herein Isaiah 45: 18 as we found in Gen. 1:2.Since God Himself says the earth wasnot created in vain or chaotic-tabu, inHebrew-then it BECAME that wayafterward.

Thus creation of the original heav­ens and earth may have been millionsof years before Adam; while the creationhe looked upon was fashioned only afew days before him.

The heavens and earth referred to inGen. 1: 3·28 are the atmosphere of thisearth and the continenss. They werebrought from darkness and waste to astate of order in six literal days as wasexplained in a previous article. Thefourth commandment "for in six daysthe Lord made heaven and earth", re­fers to this same "earthly" heavens andearth (continent).

The creation of the heavens contain­ing the sun, moon, stars, and planets(which includes the earth) took placeat a time prior to this second fashioningof the earth. No word is found inScripture giving a definite date for thatoriginal creation.

It is not a matter of great importanceto the Christian way of life just whenthe material heavens and earth werecreated. God's existence goes backeternally; forever into the past. A bil­lion years would not be even a fractionof God's life!

Should a study of the heavens defi­nitely prove creation to be two or threethousand million years ago, it wouldonly add to the glory of God. It would

upon its foundation. How can any clearthinking person claim that only themathematics exists-that its basis doesnot? A house built upon sand maystand a short time, but a house that doesaway with its own foundation has al­ready fallen.

The universe, the material world isno illusion! Mathematics may be usedto describe it because of the orderly ar­rangement, bur the lack of confusiondoes not make the world any less real.

An Eternal Universe?

A universe that had always existedwould require no Creator. That is obvi­ous. Is it possible that the universe haseternally existed? Scripture and Sciencecry out a united, NO! Scripture insiststhat all was created and describes theevents of such a creation. Science isanxiously assigning dates either to eventsassociated with creation or to creationitself.

Our moon, they say, nas slowly movedaway from the earth at the rate of a fewfeet per year. The moon is now 239,000miles away. If time were turned backa thousand million years the moon wouldbe very close to the earth or even joinedwith it. This suggests the possibility thatcreation may have taken place less thana thousand million years ago with themoon being created already some dis­tance from the earth.

Other methods of dating give equallyenormous figures. Uranium and otherradioactive elements disintegrate at aconstant rate. By measuring the quantityof disintegrated material against the orig­inal quantity of the element whichexisted, a date for its creation is as­signed. The age of the earth accordingto this method is estimated to be severalthousand million years-not eternal!

Notice that radioactivity points to cre­ation, and hence to a Creator. There musthave been a time when radioactive mat­ter began to disintegrate.

Meteorites reaching us from ourerspace contain small portions of radio­active elements. The same method ofdating is applied to them. With the aidof these radioactive elements, the me­teorites show about the same age as thatcalculated for the earth.

These measurements prove creationcould not have been earlier than sev­eral thousand million years ago. It couldhave been later. This is important toremember. There was a beginning!

CONSIDER for a moment. CouldGod be anything but eternal? Hereveals Himself as the Creator of

all there is: the material universe, an­gelic beings, light, life.

Now if God created all these, then Hecertainly existed before they did. Histime goes back before all of them.

God continues to exist today. Hepromises to give us eternal life in theworld tomorrow. Could He give ussomething He does not have? CouldGod give man eternal life if He werenot eternal Himself? Would men existforever in the future and God cease toexist?

Of course not. God will exist foreverinto the future-an eternal existence.

But has God always existed? He wasfirst in existence. No one could be HisCreator. The One who was before allelse must necessarily be Eternal.

Consider again a moment. Can some­thing come from nothing of itself? Couldan empty room suddenly become filledwith furniture without a cause? Couldan empty "universe" suddenly be filledwith stars, planets like our earth, plantand animal life, a planned orderly uni­verse where a moment before there hadbeen nothing? No. Then a Creator Godwas before them.

Such an event as creation could nottake place without a cause. No soundmind could entertain such an idea forlong.

The Universe an Illusion?

Ideas have been suggested in an ef­fort to do away with the need of aCreator. Suppose that the universedoesn't really exist-s-that it is but animaginary thing, just an illusion, some­thing that seems to exist but reallydoesn't. Observe where this idea comesfrom. Modern physical science describesthe universe in mathematical terms.From the tiniest particles of matter, tothe motions of the stars-all can be de­scribed by mathematical equations. Soperfectly and orderly has our universebeen constructed that it can be repre­sented by numerical relationships.

But does this lack of confusion in na­ture prove that the material world doesnot exist? Not at all. The mathematicalequations of the scientists are basedIl-pOn the existence of a material uni­verse which the equations describe.

The Seventh Seal Opened

But now we come to chapter 8. Hereis the opening of this 7th seal. AndWHAT IS THIS SEVENTH SEAL? Remem­ber, as each seal was opened, John re­corded what he SAW, in his vision. Inevery case, the things he SAW weresymbols-but these SYMBOLS representACTUAL WORLD EVENTS occurring in adefinite time-order. So notice what JohnSAW, when this seventh seal was opened:"And when he had opened the seventhseal, there was silence in heaven aboutthe space of half an hour. And I sawthe seven angels which stood beforeGod; and to them were given seventrumpets." (Rev. 8:1-2). John SEESthe SEVEN TRUMPETS! Here is the thirdvital key to this Book of Revelation. Theseven TRUMPETS are, of course, SYM­BOLS. They represent real WORLDEVENTS to come. These "trumpets" arenot, as so many have believed, CON­TEMPORANEOUS with the seven SEALS.Neither do they [ollou. the dosing ofthe 7th SEAL. They ARE-they CONSTI­TUTE, the 7th Seal. This seventh sealoccurs, then, in seven successive stages.Each uf these seven ~tages, or PARTS ofthe seventh seal is called a TRUMPET.These TRUMPETS are PLAGUES whichGod shall send in physical PUNISH­MENT of the forces of evil in this world.Notice, at the end of the 6th of theseTRUMPETS, how they are plainly calledPLAGUES: "And the rest of the menwhich were not killed by these plaguesyet repented not of the works of theirhands, that they should not worship dev­ils, and idols of gold, and silver, andbrass, and stone, and of wood: whichneither can see, nor hear, nor walk:"(Rev. 9:20).

What Do the Trumpets Symbolize?A trumpet is an instrument into

which one BLOWS. A trumpet SOUNDSby blowing WIND thru it. These sevenTRUMPETS, which COMPOSE the seventhseal, follow immediately after the 6thseal. Now notice carefully. At the timeof the 6th seal, described in the last ofthe 6th chapter of Revelation, it wasannounced that "the GREAT DAY of GOD'SWRATH" was come. These symbolicTRUMPETS portray, then, THE DAY OFTHE LORD-the time, as I've mentionedbefore, which is foretold in more than30 different prophecies scattered thruboth Old and New Testaments in theBible! I quoted some of them to you in

precediug anicles-"The great day ofthe Lord is near, it is near, and hastethgreatly, even the voice of the day of theLord: the mighty man shall cry therebitterly. That day is a day of wrath, aday of trouble and distress, a day ofwasteness and desolation, a day of dark­ness and gloominFss, ;I clay of cloudsand thick darkness. A day of the trumpetand alarm against the fenced cities, andagainst the high towers. And I willbring distress upon men, that theyshall walk like blind men, because theyhave sinned against the Lord: and theirblood shall be poured out as dust, andtheir flesh as the dung" (Zeph. 1: 14­17> .

There it is! The day of GOD'S WRATH!The day God intervenes in world affairsto PUNISH this world for its EVIL­the day God pleads with all flesh in thephysical language it can UNDERSTAND!-and, as verse 16 says, which I JUStread from Zephaniah, "A day of THETRUMPET and alarm against the FENCED-that is, FORTIFIED or defended,cities, and against the "high towers"­that is, military fortifications. The TRUM­PET was always blown as a warning ofWAR, or approaching ARMIES. It signi­fies WAR and destruction. When ISRAELturned a deaf ear to all God's prophets-rejected God's LOVING pleading thrupreaching, God PUNISHED ancient Is­rael by sending the armies of ASSYRIAto conquer them. When Judah dis­obeyed worse than Israel, God Almightyseru the armies of the CHALDEANS toconquer them. So now we see that asGod steps in to punish THE WHOLEWORLD-yes, ALL NATIONS, for theirevil, which is destroying them and bring­ing such suffering and unhappiness onall their peoples, the TRUMPETS, oralarms of WAR, are sounded. Trumpetsare BLOWN, by wind. Now again notice:"And after these things I saw four an­gels standing on the four corners of theearth, holding the four winds of theearth, that the wind should not blow onthe earth, nor on the sea, nor on anytree" (Rev. 7: 1 ) .

God's Children Protected

These WINDS were held back fromBLOWING these seven Trumpets UN­TIL the sealing of the 144,000, whichI described previously and the great in­numerable multitude that came out ofThe GREAT TRTRUT.ATION from ALLnationalities of people. They who re­pent and turn to GOD for protection arefirst brought under the DIVINE PRO­TECTION, so that just as God protectedthe children of ISRAEL when He pouredOut the plagues on ancient Egypt, soshall He protect ALL His children whorely on Him from THESE plagues nowabout to come on the modern BABY­ION! And, incidentally, the plagues

God sent on Egypt in the days of Moseswere a direct TYPE of these plagues thatshall now be poured out on BABYLON.Those protected from those ancientplagues were taken under Moses to thepromised land, Palestine. Those savedfrom THESE plagues will be taken byCHRIST into the KINGDOM OF GOD­to be set up on earth with headquartersin PALESTINE.

The first FOUR of these TRUMPETplagues are described in chapter 8 aswinds that blow on the earth, trees, riv­ers, and seas. You'll read that in verses6 thru 12, chapter 8 of the Book ofRevelation. The last 3 Trumpets arecalled WOES, because of the terribleWOE that shall befall the forces of evilon earth. This is stated in the 13th andlast verse of chapter 8.

The first WOE, which is also the 5thTrumpet, is described in chapter 9,verses 1-11. The power that causes thedestruction, this time to MEN, comes outof the symbolic "bottomless pic" Thisis INTERPRETED in Revelation 17: 8-14.There we learn that the rebirth of theancient ROMAN EMPIRE is the powerwhich emerges out of "the bottomlesspit." Verse 7 shows this FUTURE powerwill be a WAR-making power. It is de­scribed in prophecy as a power to theNORTH-to the NORTH of Palestine, be­cause the prophecies always speak fromthe focal point of PALESTINE-to thenorth, and west. The second WOE, withits symbols of horses and horsemen, isinrerprered by Ezekiel 38:4, 15, and isalso referred to as an event in the DAYOF THE ETERNAL in Joel 2: 4. This re­fers to a tremendous military power­also to the NORTH-due north! Theycome with an army of TWO HUNDREDMILLION! Think of it-an army of TWOHUNDRED MIT.1.l0N' World events arenow moving rapidly to make POSSI­BLE the creation of an army of that un­believable manpower! Yes, it's time toWAKE UP to what's taking place today-the true SIGNIFICANCE of the time inwhich we live, and WHERE IT IS LEAD­ING!

The Two Wirnesses

And, now, before the THIRD WOE­the LAST Trumpet-we find the TWOWITNESSES described. Men have comeforth with every possible interpreta­tion of these witnesses. Notice the TIMEelement. They END their mission (de­scribed in chapter 11) at the time ofthe END of the second WOE. (Verses12-14). Their mission LASTS only 3Y:2years. So, conlrary to erroneous HUMANinterpretations, their mission has not asyet even BEGUN. They are endued withSUPERNATURAL PROTECTION, and theygive out God's LAST WARNING to theevil powers of earth delivered thru HU-

A study of the starscan teach us to be humble; it can bringus closer to the Creator of the universe.

David was not prejudiced against thestudy of the heavens. He looked up andsaw that "The heavens declare the gloryof God; and the firmament (the ex­panse of the heavens) shewerh his han­dywork. Day unto day uttereth speech,(Each day the heavens will teach us),and night unto night shcwcrh knowl­edge (Each night the starry skies tell usof our Creator)."

A Limited Universe?

Let's look again into the height ofthe heavens to see the glory of God. A

thousand stars perhaps are visible to oureyes. A small telescope brings ten thou­sand fainter ones into view. With eachincrease in power the telescope makesit possible to see farther into space. Dis­tant stars invisible to the unaided eyecome into view.

Uncountable billions of them hewithin the reach of the 200 inch tele­scope atop Mr. Palomar in southernCalifornia. 200,000 billion, billion (thenumber 2 followed by 23 zeros) areestimated to be within range of thishuge machine. How many times morelie beyond its range, no one would dareestimate.

We have been looking at the heavensfrom man's viewpoint. Suppose we wereto see this through the eyes of God.Man struggles to estimate the stars inbur a section of the universe. David wasinspired to write that God "telleth themember of the stars; he calleth them allby their names. Great is our Lord, and ofgreat power: his understanding is in­finite." (Psalms 147:4, 5).

God's understanding is infinite, with­our limit. Our understanding, our abili­ty, can not be compared with it. Thenumber of stars God has created is afinite or countable thing. Numbers goon forever; the stars do not. Yet we cannot count them. All the two thousandmillion people of the earth togethercould count but a small fraction of thestars in their entire lifetime. By con­trast He who made these stars knowsbotb tbem ami us by name. Yes, eventhe hairs of our head He has num­bered (Matt. 10:30).

The estimate given for the numberof stars is not the total number in theentire creation but only the nearer ones.How far our God's creation extends noman knows. God has Jet it in the humanheart to search out all things, but theheight of the heavens and the depth ofthe earth will forever remain mysteriesto the mind of man. "It is the glory ofGod to conceal a thing: but the honourof kings is to search out a matter. Theheaven for height, and the earth fordepth, and the heart of kings is un­searchable" (Proverbs 25: 2, 3).

Retreating Stars

Astronomers have discovered that allthe stars appear to be moving awayfrom our vicinity in the universe. Thosefarthest away appear to be retreatingfastest. Careful calculations as to theirdistance and speed of retreat make itpossible to conclude that they all leftour approximate position an estimatedtwo thousand million years ago.

Did creation take place at that time?All the stars of the universe must havebeen Rathered closely together and sentspeeding out toward their present po­sitions. Thus another measurement of

the heavens appears to point to a remotebut yet definite time in the past-a mo­ment when the universe was born.

The immense distances of starspoint out the age of the universe inanother manner. These distances aremeasured in terms of the length of timeit requires the light from them to reachthe earth. For instance, light from oursun requires about eight and a thirdminutes to make the trip of 93 millionmiles to the earth. Light from the near­est stars requires three and four yearsto reach us. But light from the fartheststars photographed so far is estimatedto have left them over a thousand mil­lion years ago and has only reached ustoday. Thus we can conclude that thesestars were then in existence.

Creation Proves God Eternal

All these figures may be somewhatunfamiliar and confusing. But the con­clusions from them are important. Threedefinite conclusions may be drawn whichin no way conflict with Scripture butrather support it and add to God's glory.

One, that the science of the heavensproves the need of a Creator.

Two, that creation could not havebeen over 4 thousand million years ago.

Three, that creation appears to havebeen at least 1 thousand million yearsago. (Figures will vary on this andwill change as more accurate meansare available for man's search into theheavens.)

Thus it stands proven that the heav­ens are not eternal. No one methodof calculation of its age is safe to de­pend on. Still taken together they dopoint out an ancient universe-an­cient in years, yet created at a definitetime in that remote age. At a definitedate in the past-perhaps between oneand four thousand million years ago ourearth, moon, sun and stars were created.

Compare this with the Inspired Rec­ord, "In the beginning (or first of all)God created the heavens and the earth."No time is stated for this creation butit was a definite event and did takeplace at a definite time. The date is notrevealed but rather hidden for man tosearch out to the glory of his Creator.

How does all of this prove the eterni­ty of God? It becomes very simplewhen we realize that something or some­one has to be eternal. Since the universeis not eternal, a Being apart from itmust be. The universe includes every­thing there is except the God who reoveals Himself as the Creator of it. Hethen must have been existing foreverin the past. No other conclusion is pos­sible.

Who Created God?

We have shown beyond doubt fromScripture and from God's Creation that

this universe of ours is not eternal.It has not always been. It had to havea date of creation and a Creator. Godexisted before it.

But who created God? Someone iscertain to ask. Well, who did createGod? The question is often heard. Itdoes enter our minds. The answer issimple. Those things which have notalways been require a Creator. ButGod is eternal. GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN.Do you need a creator for a Being thathas always been, has always existed? Ofcourse not!

The difficulty in understanding eter­nity lies in our human minds. We dealin finite things, dollars and cents, years,miles, acres, gallons, pounds. We meas­ure, count, and estimate in units alwaysarriving at a definite quantity. Eternityis without beginning. It is without end.Eternity can not be limited to a definitenumber of years. Even as numbers cango on forever so does God's life intoboth the past and the future.

Things which are temporal, whichhave been brought into being, require acreator. But things which have alwaysexisted need no creator. The materialuniverse was created and at a definitetime in the past. Both Science and Scrip­ture are firm on this point. Thereforethe creation is temporal and had a cre­ator. Since all in existence except thisCreator is temporal, HE MUST BE ETER­NAL. He could not have had a begin­ning of days! He ALONE is eternal.
