WE DAY 2015

We Day is something that all Me to We ambassadors look forward to, so waking up early and getting to school by 6:40am was no problem for us. Since you cannot buy tickets and need to earn them, we were quite honoured we were able to attend. Upon our arrival at the ACC, we marveled at our amazing seats then sat down in the third and fourth row in a stadium with twenty thousand other students. Though we had to wait an unbearable amount of time for anyone to get on the stage, we all knew it was going to be a great day when Craig Kielburger walked by and we got to high five him. When the show was opened by a speech from Marc and Craig Kielburger themselves, everyone listened with rapt attention. It was truly amazing that the founders of such a world changing organization that we are proud to be a part of were standing in front of us; thanking us all for the work we`ve done and that we need to continue what we`ve been doing for the greater good.

Their empowering words were followed by a performance by Hedley and a talk from the incredible Spencer West. Midday, one of our teacher ambassadors, Ms. Ferreira, actually had the chance to go on stage. We were all extremely pumped to see her up there, so when Ms. Ferreira wasn’t called up, all her ambassadors were pretty distraught. There was a mistake in the timing which led her to miss her calling, but Ms. Ferreira did eventually get to get up on stage an hour later to be thanked for all the wonderful work she’s done. Throughout the day we got the opportunity to see artists like Hozier, Nick Jonas, and Shaw Mendes (a crowd favourite) perform. We Day wasn’t just a concert, though, but a chance for ambassadors to get together and learn about the cause we believe in; helping others. It was truly great to see young people doing good in the world; like Annaliese Carr, who is the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario, which she did to raise money, or Elliot Miville-Deschènes, who started the Me to we club at his school which is now thriving. The ending of We day was bittersweet, as no one wanted to leave yet but everyone wanted to see Marc and Craig again. Seeing them on stage is something moving, the passionate and dedicated way they speak. The whole day was a memorable experience and we left with knowledge in our hearts and minds. It’s easy to say that you can change the world, but seeing so many thousands of people gathered together who believe, it takes what you say and makes it real. I speak on behalf of my peer ambassadors when I say that together we can really change the world for the good. Pre-order sales of Rafiki Friend Chains $10 each

November 9 - November 20 Due to overwhelming demand, the We Student Council will begin accepting pre-orders for Me 2 We Rafiki Chains. In Swahili, the word for friend is rafiki. Wear this rafiki with pride and join the Me to We movement—a community of people moving from me thinking to we acting. Together, we’re building a better world, where we all have the power to speak out, let our voices be heard and make choices that have a positive impact. Show the world you care about making a difference with every action, both locally and globally! Every Rafiki Chain purchased helps a child in a Free The Children community overseas gain access to education for one year, giving them the tools to succeed in their studies and opening doors for the future. Each Rafiki Chain is made up of light blue/white/black glass beads on a 48” stretch cord and which also has a Me2We charm. You can wear your chain in four ways: as a bracelet, anklet, headband, or necklace.

For one week only, beginning Monday, November 9, Me 2 We Ambassadors will be accepting pre-orders and $10 payment for the Me 2 We Rafiki Chains. During lunch and parent/teacher interviews, the Me 2We ambassadors will have the Me2 We Rafiki chains on display and will also be accepting orders. Remember, all pre-orders must be accompanied with payment. The final day to place an order will be Friday, November 20, so that all the chains can arrive and be delivered before the Christmas Break.
