WHO ARE WE?
“We have been recovering new raw materials from waste
since 1985, managing the complete cycle whilst fully
respecting the environment. Today we can rightfully claim
to be one of the main multi-functional platforms in Europe
for treating and recovering special hazardous and non-
hazardous waste. The Environmental Integrated
Authorisation for 620,000 Tonnes was granted in 2014.”
The origins of RMB are history: a family history that takes
us back to the manual sorting of metallic waste carried out
on the doorstep and stored in the yard. Since then the
growth path has continued and to date has been
unstoppable.
The Company is firmly rooted in the local area in which it
operates and works constantly for its improvement. In fact
it uses the best technologies available to reduce the
environmental impact and contain consumption of energy
and water sources used in relation to the quantities of
waste treated.
By continually revamping plant facilities, RMB ensures a
constant improvement in the quality of its products
marketed throughout the world.

OUR VALUES
RMB’s mission is always better waste processing. To ensure recovery of a
growing quantity of exploitable fractions, which will become alternative
sources to the raw materials extracted naturally, and reduce landfill disposal
to a minimum in accordance with European directives for the sector.
To achieve this objective RMB is engaged in ongoing technological research
and the design of cutting-edge plant. Thanks to a skilled team of technical
staff the company thoroughly analyses regulations for the sector and applies
them to its operations. It carries out research and development on materials
with the primary aim of assuring maximum levels of quality and
environmental protection, whilst at the same time assuring a healthy and
safe working environment.
Bringing added value to the company are the specialist staff and highly
innovative plant facilities which every day carry out recovery and waste-to-
product transformation activities.
The company’s exemplary activity, which has already been embodied in the
Integrated Quality System, is recognised by the award of the most
prestigious certifications and registration in the WHITE LIST.
The well-established focus on improvement is also supported by the
adoption of the Organisation, Management and Control Model pursuant to
D.L. 231/2001 and assured by the constant presence of the Oversight Body.
The Code of Ethics regulates relations, which must be based on
transparency and propriety, between the Company and all parties that
come into contact with it. Customers, Suppliers, Public Administration,
Shareholders and Personnel.

THE PROCESSING CYCLES
URBAN WASTE
COLLECTION
END OF LIFE VEHICLES
METALS
SCRAP VEHICLES
The company has more than thirty years’ know-how in
sorting various qualities of metal by type and size. Screening
and flotation enable separation of the various types of metal
to be sent for reuse.
After end of life vehicles have been thoroughly stripped by
the car breaker, they are sent to crushing plants which
reduce their size and separate the various metallic and
non-metallic fractions.
The treatment of waste-to-energy bottom ash is the final
link in the urban waste chain, a chain that starts with
collection, continues with incineration and ends with
treatment of the residual part known as bottom ash.

THE PRODUCTION PLANTS
Metal recycling represents RMB’s historic core business and so the
company has acquired a number of hi-tech plants that can separate the
different metallic fractions (ferrous and non-ferrous) contained inside
incoming waste.
RECOVERY OF BOTTOM ASH
brochure.indd 10 12/05/15 17:09
Plant to reduce the volume of metals and separate light fractions. The material fed through a loading belt
is conveyed into the crushing unit. The use of recirculating air allows the light fractions to be cleaned by
floating and the different fractions separated using cyclones.
The smaller crushing section is dedicated to shredding waste classifiable as urban waste, the
other, recently started up, to processing motor vehicles. This is fitted with an active carbon filter
to reduce emissions.
SORTING AND SCREENING
CRUSHING MILLS
This is the jewel in the crown of RMB’s production activity: the most modern technology combined with
thirty years experience have produced high recovery standards even for the finest parts. Plants with
trommel separator (drum screen) fitted with magnets, latest technology magnetic separators, machines
with optical selectors, sorting stations for recovering ferrous and non-ferrous metals and plastics.

RECOVERY OF BOTTOM ASH
Complex-technology plant especially designed to recycle bottom ash, fitted with magnets, screens,
magnetic separators, sorting stations and mills for extracting metals of various size and separation from
the inert mineral fragment to be sent for recovery.
Facilities with washing and manual sorting for selecting the different types of metal according to their
specific weight.
In the flotation plant the material is brought into contact with process water that separates materials
having different specific weights, containing solutions with ferrosilicon additives. After being properly
rinsed the light and heavy materials exiting the two opposite sides of the flotation unit are conveyed to a
manual sorting booth for any further separation of specific product fractions.
Washing plants for the final washing of metals leaving the crushing and screening sections, also
used to remove contaminants stuck to the primarily gravelly fraction of minerals contained in the
bottom ash.

THE MATERIALS
RMB’s main objective is to recover all exploitable fractions contained in
waste, particularly metals. The purpose of the processes is to obtain MPS
and/or “end of waste” for sale or waste that is more easily recoverable in
quality terms in third party plants endowed with additional specific
recovery technologies.
The main types of materials treated are:
1. hulks of end of life vehicles and engines;
2. ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials, resulting from
mechanical selection and sorting (e.g. scrap from motorised
vehicles and scrap in general) or other materials containing
metallic fractions;
3. materials containing metals resulting from urban waste sorting
operations;
4. inert material resulting from recovery operations carried out on
excavation earth and rock and on materials produced from the
remediation of contaminated soil or waste containing fractions similar
to sand or stones, inerts, compatible for formulating products in the
building and/or highway field;
5. waste-to-energy bottom ash;
6. other materials, containing exploitable fractions.
The incoming materials are directed to the production sections most
suitable for processing, depending on their product characteristics.
They undergo screening, separation of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
using magnets and/or magnetic belts or induced currents (Foucault
parasite currents), using vibrating belts and manual sorting.
In the main the materials leaving the plant will be as follows:
• ferrous and non-ferrous materials classified as “end of waste” or
secondary raw material in compliance with the applicable regulations;
• ferrous, non-ferrous and mixed metals;
• various types and grain size of inert fractions;
• non recyclable scrap, wood, plastic rubber, glass.
