®Kobatek Wear-Resistant Plates

®Abramax

®Kobatek Abramax wear-resistant plates are used mostly in steel and cement industries, mines, quarries, public works, recycling, agriculture, brick works, dredging, thermal power stations and also in glass and MDF manufacturing facilities.

Their dense metallurgical structure offers exceptional ®resistance to abrasive wear. Kobatek range of wear

plates comprise a base plate of construction steel and a wear resistant coating applied by arc welding.

“Wear Plates” is the general name given to a low carbon steel which coated on the surface with high abrasive wear resistance of metallic materials.

Today, in general, three different methods are used for the production of wear plates;

1 - Flux cored wire coating 2 - Flux cored wire with addition of powder coating 3 - Solid wire with addition of powder coating

Advantages and disadvantages of the wear plate production methods used vary according to the expectations of the user.

®Abramax Wear Plates which are classified in 5 groups;

1 - Chromium-carbide wear plates “ABRAMAX-5560”

2 - Wear plates for high-temperature applications “THERMO-5562”

3 - Flexible wear plates with high abrasion resistance “FLEX-4552”

4 - Complex-carbide wear plates for maximum abrasion resistance “PRESTIGE-6065”

5 - Tailor-made wear plates “BOUTIQUE”

® ®Kobatek ABRAMAX wear-resistant plates are developed for applications which need high abrasion resistance together with low or moderate impact.

NOMINAL PLATE DIMENSIONS: 1500 x 3000 mm

5 mm main plate + 3 mm hardfacing layer = 8 mm

6 mm main plate + 4 mm hardfacing layer = 10 mm

8 mm main plate + 4 mm hardfacing layer = 12 mm

8 mm main plate + 6 mm hardfacing layer = 14 mm

10 mm main plate + 5 mm hardfacing layer = 15 mm

10 mm main plate + 6 mm hardfacing layer = 16 mm

®Chemical analysis, microstructure and hardness of Kobatek Abramax wear-plates limit the usage of conventional machining methods.

Plate edges and corners can be machined by grinding, however it can not be cutted by oxy-fuel cutting technic because of high chromium content. Generally, the most preferred cutting method is plasma arc cutting technic. By applying plasma arc cutting, they can be obtained perfect results due to quality and

cleaning. The wear-resistant hardfacing layer can also be removed locally by using air carbon arc technic.

®Kobatek Abramax wear-plates can be welded to each other by Kobatek 352 covered electrodes. During this operation, the welded joint must be located on mild steel base metal surface. On the welded joint, the hardfacing application should be applied by Kobatek 578 covered electrode (Picture-2).

High hardness wear plates naturally and intended to have cracks widthwise. The single long line of these cracks ® ®(as shown in the figure below) may results as break or rupture. On the production of Kobatek Abramax wear

plates these crack kept under control and prevent of creating a single line of crack. In this way the lifetime of the wear plate is longer than the conventional plates. (Picture-3).
