This weekend two important events are happening in the parish. First and foremost, our children are receiving their First Holy Communion! We congratulate them and their families and we pray for them that they may always be as close to Jesus as they are on this day. Second, we celebrate the Feast of The Lord of the Miracles, which is so important to our Peruvian Community. We honor the sacred image of Jesus that has brought about and continues to bring about many miracles. As I am reflecting on these two events, my thoughts went to our Eucharistic theme for this week: the reverence we should show in receiving Jesus in Holy Communion! There is no miracle greater than the change of ordinary bread and wine into the sacred Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Jesus true God and true man is with us under the form of bread. There is no greater miracle and we can witness to it and take part in it every day if we want. The other thought that came to mind: our children are so reverent and mindful of what they are doing on their First Communion day — I was once like them— what happened? How is it that we can receive Jesus so coldly and so casually? How do we prepare to receive the Eucharist? Do we go to confession before Communion if we have a serious sin? How many come to Mass rarely, haven’t been to confession in months or years, sometimes live lives without any regard to the Commandments and then, for one reason or another find themselves at Mass and just go to Communion as if receiving a symbol with little meaning? How many of us come to Communion talking, looking around, chewing gum, giving no attention to the great miracle we are about to take part in? How many of us come to Communion without giving the slightest thought to the hour fast the Church asks us to keep before receiving Jesus? How many of us come to receive taking the Sacred Host in our hands without thinking about what we are doing as if someone is just handing me a cookie or a piece of candy instead of realizing we are holding the Creator of the universe? How many of us try to receive with gloves or even dirty hands? How many come without giving any sign of reverence before receiving or without reverently and thoughtfully placing the Hosts in our mouths? How many of us go back to our seats looking around and/or immediately starting to talk without any recollection? How many of us receive Communion and walk directly out of Church — without a moment of prayer and silence, not even staying for the final blessing at the end of Mass. Is this the way to receive the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, the Lord and Savior of the world? When we receive Communion, the priest says, “Body of Christ” and we respond: AMEN. That AMEN means “I believe!” I believe that Jesus Christ, true God and true man, is truly present in the Eucharist Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. I say I believe that to be true, but does my way of receiving Holy Communion show that belief so that believers and non-believers alike can see that I am participating in the greatest miracle and most sacred action possible for any person? This weekend we celebrate two events, allow our children to teach us once again with what reverence we should receive Jesus and allow the Lord of the Miracles himself, not a painting, to transform us into Himself. From the Desk of Fr. Pat Este fin de semana se están celebrando dos eventos importantes en la parroquia. ¡Ante todo, nuestros hijos están recibiendo su Primera Comunión! Los felicitamos a ellos y a sus familias y oramos por ellos para que siempre estén tan cerca de Jesús como lo están en este día. En segundo lugar, celebramos la Fiesta del Señor de los Milagros, que es tan importante para nuestra Comunidad Peruana. Honramos la imagen sagrada de Jesús que ha hecho y sigue haciendo muchos milagros. Al reflexionar sobre estos dos acontecimientos, mis pensamientos se centraron en nuestro tema eucarístico para esta semana: ¡la reverencia que debemos mostrar al recibir a Jesús en la Santa Comunión! No hay milagro mayor que el cambio de pan y vino ordinarios en el sagrado Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad de Jesucristo. Jesús verdadero Dios y el verdadero hombre está con nosotros bajo la forma de un pan. No hay mayor milagro y podemos presenciarlo y participar en él todos los días si queremos. El otro pensamiento que vino a la mente: es que nuestros hijos son tan reverentes y conscientes de lo que están haciendo en su día de la Primera Comunión —yo fui una vez como ellos— que sucedió? ¿Cómo es que podemos recibir a Jesús con tanta frialdad y tanta casualidad? ¿Cómo nos preparamos para recibir la Eucaristía? ¿Vamos al confesionario antes de la Comunión si tenemos un pecado grave? ¿Cuántos vienen a la Misa de vez en cuando, y no se han confesado en meses o años, a veces viven vidas sin nin-gún respeto a los Mandamientos y luego, por una razón o otra se encuentran en la Misa y simplemente van a la Comunión como si estuviéramos recibiendo un símbolo con poco significado? ¿Cuántos de nosotros venimos a la Comunión hablando, mirando a su alrededor, masticando chicle, sin prestar atención al gran milagro en el que estamos a punto de participar? ¿Cuántos de nosotros llegamos a la Comunión sin pensar en la hora que la Iglesia nos pide que guardemos antes de recibir a Jesús? ¿Cuántos de nosotros venimos a recibir tomando el Sagrado Corazón en nuestras manos sin pensar en lo que estamos haciendo como si alguien me estuviera entregando una galleta o un caramelo en lugar de darnos cuenta de que estamos sosteniendo al Creador del universo? ¿Cuántos de nosotros tratamos de recibir con guantes o incluso manos sucias ¿Cuántos vienen sin dar ninguna señal de reverencia antes de recibir o sin colocar reverente y cuidadosamente a la Hostia en nuestras bocas? ¿Cuántos de nosotros volvemos a nuestros asientos mirando a su alrededor y/o inmediatamente empezamos a hablar sin ningún recuerdo? Cuántos de nosotros recibimos la Comunión y salimos directamente de la Iglesia, sin un momento de oración y silencio, ni siquiera permaneciendo para la bendición final al final de la Misa. ¿Es esta la manera de recibir al Señor de los Señores, el Rey de Reyes, el Señor y Salvador del mundo? Cuando recibimos la Comunión, el sacerdote dice: "Cuerpo de Cristo" y respondemos: AMEN, este AMEN significa "¡Creo!" Creo que Jesucristo, es verdadero Dios y verdadero hombre, está verdaderamente presente en el Cuerpo Eucarístico, La Sangre, el Alma y la Divinidad. Digo que creo que eso es verdad, pero mi manera de recibir la Santa Comunión muestra esa creencia para que los creyentes y los no creyentes por igual puedan ver que estoy participando en el mayor milagro y la acción más sagrada posible para cualquier persona? Este fin de semana celebramos dos acontecimientos, permitimos que nuestros hijos nos enseñen una vez más con la reverencia que debemos recibir a Jesús y permitir que el mismo Señor de los Milagros, no una pintura nos transforme en la Comunión. ¡Que Dios te bendiga!

Informacje od proboszcza Dois eventos importantes acontecem em nossa paroquia nesse fim de semana. O mais importante e que celebramos primeira comunhão de nossas crianças. Parabéns as essas crianças e as suas famílias. Que Deus as conserve sempre com o fervor desse dia. Segundo, e a festa do Senhor dos Milagres, padroeiro dos peruanos. Nos juntamos a eles para celebrar essa festa, marcada por tantos milagres que acontecem. Pensando nesses eventos meus pensamentos se voltaram para a Eucaristia, para a nossa reverencia ao receber a comu-nhão. Não existe milagre maior que o próprio Corpo e Sangue de Cristo. E como e importante poder receber a comunhão com frequência. O que me preocupa e que fazemos a primeira comunhão com tanto fervor e depois vamos nos esfriando com o passar do tempo. Como é possível isso? Como e que nos aproximamos para receber a Eucaristia? Nos confessamos dos pecados mais sérios, com frequência, para estarmos preparados para receber a Jesus ou deixamos passar anos sem confissão? A comunhão não é um símbolo, mas o próprio Jesus vivo, por isso não podemos mastigar chiclete na igreja, conversar, ficar distraídos quando estamos diante de um grande milagre, onde Jesus se torna alimento para nos sustentar. Será que não estamos tratando Jesus como se fosse um mero pãezinhos que partilhamos quando recebemos o Senhor Criador do Universo? Não estamos nos apresentando com as mãos sujas, com luvas, ou recebendo na boca, mas sem a devida reverencia? Quantas vezes retornamos ao banco distraídos e logo começamos a conversar, sem um momento de recolhimento e as vezes até saindo da igreja antes da benção final? Ao receber a comunhão o ministro diz: “o corpo de Cristo!” e nós respondemos AMEM que significa eu acredito que estou recebendo a Jesus em sua completa divindade. Eu respondo que acredito, mas o meu comportamento corresponde ao comportamento de alguém que acredita? Nesse fim de semana nos celebramos esses dois eventos. Que o exemplo das crianças nos ensine como devemos receber a Jesus para que o Senhor possa operar grandes milagres em nossas vidas. Que Deus te abençoe!

wydarzenia. Przede wszystkim nasze dzieci przystępują do Pierwszej Komunii Świętej! Gratulujemy im i ich rodzinom i modlimy się za nich, aby zawsze byly tak blisko Jezusa, jak w tym dniu. Po drugie, obchodzimy Święto Pana Cudów (Feast of The Lord of the Miracles), które jest tak ważne dla naszej wspólnoty peruwiańskiej. Czcimy święty obraz Jezusa, który spowodował i wciąż powoduje wiele cudów. Kiedy zastanawiam się nad tymi dwoma wydarzeniami, moje myśli skupiły się na naszym temacie eucharystycznym na ten tydzień: Cześć, którą powinniśmy okazywać, przyjmując Jezusa w Komunii Świętej! Nie ma większego cudu niż zmiana zwykłego chleba i wina w święte Ciało, Krew, Duszę i Boskość Jezusa Chrystusa. Jezus, prawdziwy Bóg i prawdziwy człowiek, jest z nami pod postacią chleba i wina. Nie ma większego cudu, a my możemy go doświadczyć i brać w nim udział każdego dnia, jeśli chcemy. Druga rzecz, która przyszła mi na myśl: nasze dzieci są tak pełne szacunku i pamiętają o tym, co robią w dniu Pierwszej Komunii Święte - kiedyś byliśmy takimi jak one - co się stało. Jak to jest, że teraz możemy przystępować do Komunii w taki ‘zimny’ lub w taki ‘swobodny’sposób? Jak przygotowujemy się do przyjęcia Eucharystii? Czy idziemy do spowiedzi przed komunią, jeśli mamy poważny grzech? Ilu ludzi przychodzi na Mszę Świętą rzadko, nie spowiada się od miesięcy lub lat, czasami żyje życiem bez praktykowania Przykazań Bożych, a następnie z tego czy innego powodu znajduje się na Mszy Świętej i po prostu idzie do Komunii, tak jakbyśmy otrzymywali jakiś symbol o małym znaczeniu? Ilu z nas przychodzi do Komunii, rozmawiając, rozglądając się, żując gumę, nie zwracając uwagi na wielki cud, w którym będziemy uczestniczyć? Ilu z nas przychodzi do Komunii bez zastanowienia się nad godzinnym postem o który Kościół prosi nas, abyśmy zachowali przed przyjęciem Jezusa? Ilu z nas przychodzi, aby wziąć Najświętsze Ciało w nasze ręce, nie myśląc o tym, co robimy, jakby ktoś wręczał mi ciastko lub słodycze, zamiast zdawać sobie sprawę z tego, że trzymujemy Stwórcę wszechświata? Ilu z nas próbuje otrzymać Najświętsze Ciało w rękawiczkach lub w brudne ręce? Ilu przychodzi bez okazywania czci przed otrzymaniem lub bez czciwego i przemyślanego umieszczenia Hostii w naszych ustach? Ilu z nas wraca na swoje miejsca, rozglądając się i / lub natychmiast zaczynając rozmawiać bez żadnej refleksji? Ilu z nas przyjmuje Komunię i wychodzi bezpośrednio z Kościoła - bez chwili modlitwy i ciszy, nawet nie pozostając do ostatecznego błogosławieństwa na koniec Mszy Świętej. Czy to jest sposób na przyjęcie Pana Panów, Króla Królów, Pan i Zbawiciel świata? Kiedy przyjmujemy Komunię Świętą, kapłan mówi: „Ciało Chrystusa”, a my odpowiadamy: AMEN, słowo to oznacza „Tak, wierzę!” Wierzę, że Jezus Chrystus, prawdziwy Bóg i prawdziwy człowiek, jest naprawdę obecny w Eucharystii, w swoim Ciele, Krwi, Duszy i Boskości. Mówię, że wierzę, że to prawda, ale czy mój sposób przyjmowania Komunii Świętej pokazuje tę wiarę, aby zarówno wierzący, jak i niewierzący mogli zobaczyć, że uczestniczę w największym cudzie i najświętszym działaniu Boga wobec każdej osoby? Come and Spend Time with the Lord

In the Gospel Jesus helps his followers understand God’s willingness to hear and respond to prayers of petition. Jesus tells a

parable about a widow and an unjust judge. At the time when this Gospel was written, widows were treated unfairly and were severely disadvantaged. The widow in today’s story

uses her voice and her persistence to cry out for justice. She continually comes before the judge asking for fairness. The widow wears down the unjust judge and to keep her from bothering him, he grants her justice. Jesus challenges his

listeners to examine their hearts to see how insistent they are in calling upon God, who is a just judge. The point that Jesus makes in this parable is that if the unjust judge is willing to

grant the widow’s request, how much more willing is God to answer our prayers. Reflection for the week: Do you try not to give up when you ask God for something in prayer? When do you ask God for help? Why do you ask God for

help? God Bless you!

Let us pray. Dear God, you know all our needs even before we bring them to you. Thank you for always

hearing our prayers. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen

En el Evangelio, Jesús ayuda a sus seguidores a comprender la voluntad de Dios de escuchar y responder a las oraciones de petición. Jesús cuenta una parábola sobre una viuda y un
