Guide to system updates
UPDATES INCLUDE
As part of our continued commitment to further enhance our solution based on feedback received from our
customers, Masternaut are again delighted to announce the addition of some really exciting new system
developments. These developments will enhance your user experience and continue to ensure that Masternaut offers
you Award Winning, 'Best of Breed' solutions to assist you in managing your fleet.
Changes can be summarised as follows:
As part of a phased improvement programme, Masternaut have made the first set of exciting changes to the Locator
screen. These changes aim to improve the usability of the Masternaut system.
• Smart Search – The locator screen now has a built in ‘Smart Search’ . This will allow you to enter a driver name,
vehicle registration number or search for a hierarchy view. Only the relevant vehicle(s) is then shown on the locator
screen.
• Improved Locator Performance – To improve the speed at which the locator screen loads, this screen will now
show a maximum number of vehicles at any one time. The current default will be set to 200 vehicles (although this
number is configurable by Masternaut customer services). You can then use the Smart Search, the Group filters or the
Status filters to expand the search and find the vehicle you require.
Please note, this development is not relevant for all Masternaut customers – only those with over 200 vehicles
• Further Enhancements to the Mapping Modules – These include the following:
• Multiple vehicle group selection on the map
• Map now displays street names in Birds eye view
• Alerts are now displayed as icons on the map
• Route planner: export route as a route Geo-fence to alert if a vehicle goes off route
• Route planner: find contacts along the route
• Journey cost is calculated and displayed in vehicle journey (please set up in GreenerFleet's administration
pages)
• Enhanced Vehicle Attributes – This exciting new feature allows you to create a vehicle type and then assign a
number of attributes against that vehicle type. This can then be used to search for the ‘Nearest Vehicle’ with the
correct attributes ensuring the right vehicle is sent to a site – this will help you reduce operational costs whilst
maintaining crucial productivity and efficiency.
Web Updates
You can now use two methods of filtering or searching for a vehicle.
1. Use the existing filters to view by status, group etc. (There is no change to this functionality)
2. Use the Smart Search box to find a vehicle or driver (This is new functionality and the functionality is described below)
Click on ‘Locator’ you will see a new box titled ‘Search’ (you can only use either the Smart Search or the filters at any
one time).
To start using the Smart Search, simply click on the box – this will now allow you to type a driver name or vehicle
registration in.
SMART SEARCH
Masternaut have developed a ‘Smart Search’ function to enhance the way you use the Masternaut system. This facility is
currently on the Locator screens but will be integrated into the rest of the system in the near future. We will also be
making further enhancements in the future to include multi-selection of results, search by vehicle and driver groups and
other exciting new features.
It has been designed to be very simple to use and will allow you to search for by driver name, vehicle registration
number and also hierarchy group (where applicable).
This can be used on both Locator views.
Start by typing the name (or part of name) you are
looking for. A list of all possible results will then be
displayed, you can then simply click on the vehicle or
driver you wish to view and this will then be displayed
on the Locator screen.
Search by Vehicle, Driver or Hierarchy group
When you click on the Smart Search box, the remainder of the toolbar has a grey overlay, this is to show that the
selections in these areas are not valid in the requested search.
To view all vehicles again, just click anywhere on the Actions / Status / Vehicles toolbar. All vehicles will then be shown
again. The Search box now has a grey overlay. Again, simply click on this to use.
IMPROVED LOCATOR PERFORMACE
Please note, this is not relevant for all Masternaut customers – only those with over 200 vehicles
To improve the speed at which the locator screen loads, this screen will now show a maximum number of vehicles at any
one time. At present this is set by default to 200 vehicles (although this number is configurable by Masternaut customer
services).
If you have less than 200 vehicles on the Masternaut system, this functionality will not be applicable to you.
If you have the maximum number of vehicles on display, a message will be visible to highlight the number of vehicles on
display – in this case there have been 200 results returned.
The Group, Status and Vehicles filters can be used to display more relevant vehicles.
The first 200 vehicles are displayed alphabetically by vehicle name. If you are using the ‘Advanced Locator’ screen, you
may not be able to see all vehicle groups immediately (unless you are viewing the ‘Classic’ Locator screen). Please watch
this space for further improvements to the ‘Smart Search’ facility which will include the ability to search by vehicle
groups.
Whilst the number of vehicles that can be displayed is configurable for each customer, Masternaut strongly recommends
this number is not far in excess of 200 vehicles as this is the optimum level for performance enhancement. If you wish to
discuss this further, please contact your Masternaut customer service representative.

Web Updates
When you have assigned a vehicle type to a vehicle, you will then need to assign the correct attributes to that vehicle.

You can view any attributes assigned to a vehicle, on the
map view simply by right clicking on your chosen vehicle.

Using Nearest Vehicle Search with Attributes
The use of attributes whilst using the ‘Nearest Vehicle’ search will allow you to search for the nearest vehicle with the
correct attributes to complete the required task – this will provide a greater level of management information and
allow you to improve efficiency and reduce costs whilst responding to emergency jobs.
Once you have created the location to which you wish to search for your nearest vehicles (by selecting a point on the
map or through ‘Contacts’, you will be presented with the ‘Search Nearest Vehicle’ screen. You can then select the
vehicle types and attributes you require and search for the nearest vehicle containing the correct vehicle type,
attributes and values.
Web Updates
Use the drop down fields to select a vehicle type and attributes you wish to search for (you can select multiple types).
If you select multiple attributes with group values
assigned (e.g. Colour), then the search will return
with results showing either of the results that are
available (this acts as an ‘or’ relationship)
Any other multiple selections with work as an ‘and’
relationship.
Selecting a variety of group and single attributes
provides a hybrid of ‘and’ and ‘or’ search results.
So, in the example shown above: If the colour is
black or blue and vehicle has an Electronic Tail Lift
then the results will be shown
