SLH Dance Academy Terms and Conditions

Reviewed and updated: 01/09/2020

SLH Dance Academy is dedicated in running a professional and safe environment that is open to all and therefore by payment of classes you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Behaviour

1. Bullying, racist, sexist, other offensive language and behaviour is not tolerated, and we reserve the right to terminate membership without notice, the final decision being undertaken by Sophie Huntley.

2. Parents/Pupils must register their details on our customer portal and read/agree to our policies before attending a class with SLH Dance Academy. Safety measures and covid-19 procedures must strictly be adhered to at all times.

Parents

1. It is parents’ responsibility to ensure and be satisfied that their child is fit and healthy to attend classes at SLH Dance Academy each week.

2. Students are to arrive and be collected on time to class. It is important that pupils participate in warm ups and lateness can cause disruption to the rest of the class. SLH Dance Academy must be notified in advance if another adult or older sibling is collecting your child.

3. Parents are responsible for ensuring all contact details and medical information are kept up to date in your customer portal and that SLH Dance Academy are aware of any changes made.

4. Please park considerately when using all of our venues and follow any car park rules for specific venues.

5. SLH Dance Academy does not accept responsibility for students outside their booked class/workshop time and outside the studio premises.

Teachers/Staff

1. Teachers must ensure that each child has left class with an appropriate adult.

2. All staff, including cover teachers (who may be brought in at short notice), are DBS checked and hold relevant qualifications suitable for the classes they will be teaching

New pupils

1. We do not accept “drop ins” for any of our term time classes. All term time classes must be booked in advance and new students are welcome to join classes mid-term depending on availability and authorisation from Sophie Huntley.

2. We do not offer free trials for our classes and therefore all trials will be charged for. We believe this discourages people only attending the once to make use of the free session and therefore taking time away from current pupils at the school.

3. Waiting lists will be made for classes that are at maximum capacity. Members on the waiting list will be contacted in order. If we do not hear back from you within 48 hours then the place will be offered to the next person on the list.

Absences

1. Where possible please email [email protected] if your child will be absent from class.

Payment

1. Invoices and class bookings will be issued on a half termly basis only. There are no reductions or refunds for missed sessions because of sickness or holidays (or any other reason except in exceptional circumstances at SLH Dance Academy’s sole discretion).

2. Invoices will be sent out a few weeks before the start of the new term and will have a payment due date on them. Failure to pay by the due date may mean your child’s space will be offered to a pupil on our waiting list. If more than 1 email reminder is sent for lack of payment by the due date then a £5.00 late payment charge will be added for each email sent chasing.

3. Fees are made to secure your child’s space in the class for the entire term that you have been invoiced for. Therefore if you chose to withdraw your child mid-term then no refund will be given.

4. BACS transfer is the preferred method of payment. You must put your child’s name and surname in the reference so that the payment can be tracked back to you.

5. In exceptional circumstances cash will be accepted but this must be in a sealed envelope with the pupils name and class written clearly on the envelope. No change will be given for any cash payments that are not for the exact amount.

Class Cancellations

1. Occasionally classes may have to be cancelled due to circumstances outside of our control. If we have to cancel a class for reasons outside of our control or a suitable cover teacher cannot be found for occasions such as teacher illness then SLH Dance Academy will postpone the class and will reschedule it to an alternative date and time. If you cannot make the rescheduled date no refunds will be given.

Withdrawal from classes

1. If you wish to withdraw your child from a class then 1 month notice is required. If less than 1 months notice is provided or the notice period runs into a new term , you will be charged for the remaining lessons scheduled within that month.

Pandemics/Lockdowns/COVID-19

1. In the event of a local lockdown or if SLH Dance Academy cannot offer a class due to government guidance or force majeure then classes will take place online via the video conferencing platform "Zoom" as an alternative. No refund for classes that have already been paid for will be offered if you chose not to participate online.

2. If a student cannot attend class due to themselves or a household member being told to self-isolate by NHS Track and Trace (or equivalent) then no refund will be given. In this situation we may be able to offer the student the chance to join in with the class virtually via "zoom" as an alternative. If the student is unwell and cannot take part, then this will be classed as a missed session too and as above no refund will be made. Payment of invoices is to secure a space in the class for the entire length of the half term.

Uniform

1. Students who are fully enrolled to SLH Dance Academy are expected to wear the correct uniform and appropriate dance shoes to all classes. Visit https://slhdanceacademy.com/uniform/for all details. Pupils hair must be neatly groomed where appropriate; in a bun for ballet and neatly tied up in a bun, pony tail, plaits, bunches or similar for modern/tap/jazz/pre-school.

2. No jewellery or piercings to be worn for any classes, performances or examinations.
