1. 2 Peter 1:20 … no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

What do you think is the goal for God giving us prophecy?

How can we know the difference between predictive words of man & prophecies from God?

Pastor 4 reasons why Biblical prophecy is relevant to us today: 1) Fulfilled prophecy provides compelling evidence that the Bible is true & from God. 2) It demonstrates God’s faithfulness to keep His Word. 3) It should create in us an urgency to share our faith. 4) It should motivate us to follow Christ, obey His commands & be ready to meet Him.

2. Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”

Psalm 119:89 Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

What does it mean to you when you read that God’s Word is “flawless”? How does this impact your Bible reading habits? Decisions? Lifestyle? Outlook?

3. Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God,   keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

4. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient   with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Luke 9:23-25 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple [follower] must deny themselves [total surrender] and take up their cross daily [everyday death] and follow me.  For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.  What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
