1 Introduction

This section gives the motivation and the contribution the paper will make to the state of the art regarding railway noise and vibration.

This template gives guidelines for the preparation of an extended abstract for IWRN14. Prepare your abstract in PDF format, then submit it via the following link:

https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iwrn14. If you do not have an EasyChair account, you will be asked to create one. The manuscript should be no more than 2 pages and should be written in English. The maximum file size should not exceed 50 Mbytes.

A single column A4 style should be used with page margins equal to 20 mm on all four sides. Do not use headers, footers or page numbers. The main body of the text should be Times New Roman, 12 pt, and single spacing. Indent paragraphs by 5 mm.

The abstract title appears in 16 pt bold Times New Roman type. Capitalize the first word of the title. The title should be centrally justified as shown above. The authors should appear after the title in a comma-delimited list (first name followed by last name). Affiliations should be added in the form Company/Institution, Department, and address. Include corresponding authors' email address following the affiliation.

The sections Introduction, Methodology, Results and Conclusion are auto-numbered and their inclusion is mandatory. The sections Acknowledgements and References are not numbered and are optional. There should be 12 pt lines before and after each heading. The section References contains the bibliography. The references are auto-numbered. References must be complete. For journal papers, provide initials, name, title, journal, volume, number, page numbers, and year. For books provide initials, name, title, edition, publisher, city, country, and year. Example references are [1, 2] and [3].

Equations should be centered and the numbering should be right-justified:

∇2 p+k2 p=0 (1)

Use standard symbols and nomenclature. Quantities should be expressed in SI units. In the text, equations should be referenced as equation (1).

Tables and their captions should be centered, and the caption should by placed above the table. Horizontal lines should be used for the top and bottom part of the table as well as the header. Please left align all items in the table. In the text, tables should be referenced as table 1.

Figures and their captions should also be centered. The caption is placed below the figure. In the text, figures should be referenced as figure 1.

Please follow these paper preparation instructions carefully and make sure that your extended abstract is less than 2 pages in length.

2 Methodology

This section presents the methodology followed.

3 Results

This section gives an overview of the results obtained.

4 Conclusion

This section gives the conclusions and highlights the central message of the paper.
