Fire – Friend or Foe?

Fire is a friend to all of us. It keeps us warm, cooks our food, gives us light, and does many other things. Fire can also be our foe when it is not controlled, destroying us and our belongings. One way to keep fire as a friend is to be careful with it and to take steps to keep it under control. With this purpose in mind, make a fire safety check of your home. Some things to look for are listed below.

Frayed wires on appliances Piles of used rags Flammable items near stoves and fireplaces Smoke detectors (fresh batteries?) A fire escape plan that everyone knows Emergency phone numbers easy to find Fire extinguisher in kitchen and near

fireplaces, etc.

Brian came across some very unusual tracks – a main center line with claw marks to the side. Later, he discovered that the animal which made them was a turtle. As Brian became more skilled at looking and understanding, he probably learned to recognize many wild animal tracks near the lake.
