Maryland HSA Coach for Algebra and Data Analysis Fellow students, accept my greetings. I am looking forward to seeing you in the new academic year, and I am so happy to be your teacher and that you are in this class. The following guidelines for my classroom will help ensure that all students are given the opportunity to succeed to their fullest potential.

Each student will:Demonstrate respect, collaboration, tolerance, openness, and understanding and acceptance of individual roles within an assigned group.

Course Goals/Objectives:This course focuses on three areas of the Common Core State Standards for Algebra II: Polynomials, Trigonometric functions, and Exponential functions. The goals and objectives of this course align with the Common Core State Standards for Algebra II. The Content Standards can be found on www.mdk12.org. Reading and writing standards are a part of every course curriculum. In addition to coursework and tests, benchmark assignments will be used to assess student mastery of the standards.

Course Expectations: All Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School teachers expect students to conform to the Mervo Attendance Policy, Student Code of Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities of the School Community, Dress Code, Academic Integrity Policy, and Technology Acceptable Use Policy. These policies can be found in the Parent-Student Handbook. In addition, this course has the following expectations: Course Description:The Algebra II curriculum provides the students with the basic mathematical and technological skills necessary for progress to further levels of mathematical study in secondary and post-secondary schools. The development of concepts based on real-life situations and patterns enables students to use and understand algebra skills in order to solve problems, communicate, connect, and integrate mathematics into their daily lives. The major organizing themes used to help students make

connections and ‘understand the broad scope of the course are functions and relations, language and representation, and mathematical modeling. Students represent situations and solve problems that involve variable quantities with words, graphs, expressions, expressions, equations, and inequalities. With the aid of technology, students explore the language of algebra in verbal, tabular, graphical, and symbolic forms. Problems solving activities and applications engage students in modeling patterns and relationships with variables and functions.
